Great time all around!
Delicious food and cocktails. Love the decor and theme - BUT, they seem to clash that "roaring 20s" theme with a big-screen sports bar and a large crowd of loud patrons. Kinda kills the classy vibe and makes it hard to talk.
Went to Gatsby with some friends to grab a Happy Hour drink - they have THE BEST happy hour in Navy Yard. The service was impeccable - the drinks were amazing. The indoor decor is so cute - definitely nailed the 20s vibe. It got a bit loud but I think it was due to the Nats fans avoiding the rain. Overall a great experience and will surely be back!
We had a great meal sitting at the bar. Shannon was a funny and attentive server/bartender.
Great service and food. Placed a little close to other patrons making it difficult to hear conversation, but overall very satisfied with the experience.
Our waiter was absolutely horrible!
Very dismissive, not attentive, not respectful, not helpful nor was he polite. He came to our table once without being called and when confronted about his bad customer service, he was unapologetic and nonchalant!
The manager took over our table and allowed us the opportunity to end our night on a good note. Thanks Management!
We sat for about 25 minutes until a server made a visit to our table. As soon as service began it was very great and we had no other issues. Thank you for the nice dining experience.
Great brunch! We live right around the corner and are happy to have a new go-to for Sunday brunch!
Food and drinks were amazing! our server was a bit rude and standoffish, but everything else was wonderful.
Food was just ok. The serving size of the salmon was really small. However, we did like their hot&sour wings.
Kind of dark outside.
Great drinks but date didn’t go well. But will be back!
The calamari was not crispy at all. The vegetables that came with the calamari was more crispy then the calamari. We planned to eat dinner but after the calamari we ended up going somewhere else.
Table was up 4 flights of steps. Okay but waiters had to walk steps to the bar so drink service was slow. Wife’s initial Vodka and tonic came as a gin and tonic. They cheerfully replaced it. I would have ordered another drink if I didn’t think it would take long to get.
Food was excellent. Calamari was lightly breaded with a tasty flavor. The order included pickles and potato chips? They were a nice addition along with seasoned nuts.
I had the Monte Cristo and it’s was very well prepared with marmalade on the side. My wife had the 1/2 chicken and we split an order of fries/onion rings. The onion rings had delicious breading.
Overall the service was good. Several workers participated in greeting us, serving water, bringing food and clearing dishes. In total (counting the floor manager) we had 6-8 different people stop at our table during the course of our dinner.
Amazing food (choose daily specials), perfect ambiance and friendly staff!
I made a reservation and was sat quickly when I arrived. The server was efficient and the food and drinks were delicious.
I’d give this 5 stars if it were not for the service. The hostesses were awesome and friendly but the server was aloof, wore his mask below his nose? and was generally inattentive. The food was delicious though and the cocktails were on point.
The Gatsby has a great vibe - and we had an awesome view of Nats Park! The waiter and waiter in training were both fantastic, attentive and great personalities. The food was delicious - the poutine fries were to die for! Only issue is we went during game time so parking was expensive - 30$. Would go again at different time for sure.
The food was not very tasty and was loaded with salt. The waitress was not efficient but I’m sure it’s because they include a 20% tip in your bill and so they don’t have to work to hard for tips.
Went there as my first indoor meal after fully vaccinated. It’s been over a year! Picked this place because I love the book/the movie/style. The decor is lovely. Not a large menu and unfortunately our dishes (pastrami and lasagne) were too salty. Fries were great though. I would still recommend for the decor.
Great ambiance and excellent service! Can’t beat the location especially with a baseball game going on.
Service was great and decor is attractive. Food was "okay". Home fries with crab Benedict were definitely "yesterday's leftover" and industrial. They were dry inside and had the taste of being reheated rather than hand cut and cook at order. Disappointing because restaurant has in house bakery/pastry shop. All elements of each dish should be from scratch.
Had a great birthday dinner for my boyfriend! While it was a little loud (which is expected on a Friday night!) the food and service was fantastic. Our server Henry was very kind and had great food recommendations. The dessert menu is one of the best in the city. Can’t wait to go back!
The cocktails are terrific, the chicken pot pie is to die for, and the service was very attentive without intruding. From our table, we were able to see Nats Park filling up before the game.
This was good “retro diner style” food but the price point is way too high for the cuisine. While portions are generous, the wait staff were very slow and generally inattentive. The restaurant is very loud- likely amplified because everything is tile so the sound just bounces everywhere. There are so many delicious places in Navy Yard I don’t think we’ll be back here anytime soon.
Womderful! Sat upstairs,
This was our first restaurant meal since Covid began, so we were happy!
We were seated outside with plenty of shade. Very professional and courteous staff. Attentive without being invasive.
Cocktails were superb (we bought a pitcher) and beautifully presented. Fresh and pretty.
I had a wonderful Thai steak salad and the Mr had pastrami hash. Everything was fresh and nicely plated and prepared. Flavors were well-balanced. We were so glad we picked this restaurant for our post-vaccination return to real life. It was a pleasure all around.
Looking forward to coming back soon and propping ourselves at the bar for a happy hour/breakfast.
Great brunch! Delicious food, nice atmosphere and great service. I am so glad to have another great place in the neighborhood!
Great experience for a new opening. We will definitely be back.
First visit exceeded expectations for brunch! So close to Nats Park and the food was awesome!
My 2nd experience at Gatsby was much better! I ordered the Greek Omelette and my friend ordered the All American Breakfast. The food was delicious and still warm once it was bought outside to the patio. Lola, our server was also very good!
The kitchen was having issues with their timing. Our entrées were OK, they made it up to us by comping our appetizer. I would give it a while so they can work out the kinks.
It’s always a great experience when we go there. We seem to end up with the same waiter and they do a great job each time. I’ve tried several menu options and they all taste like they are made with great ingredients. The spaghetti and meatballs and the stuffed bacon/egg croissant are two of my favorite dishes. Also, the Greta’s Punch is delicious and refreshing.
Good drinks but only fair food. Everything is over salted.
I found this place online and was immediately attracted to it because of the decor on the inside. This place definitely has mellow vibes and was a lovely dining experience.
The quality of the entrees varied greatly - my husband loved his country fried steak; another friend found the steak salad way too salty (likely from the salad dressing). High points were the cocktails, service, and desserts. Don't miss the watergate cake - yum. And sit outside if you can, way too loud inside.
Except for the noise/loudnesz level, we had a wonderful experience! Our waitress was lovely!
First time at this restaurant. The staff were courteous, friendly, and professional. The restaurant looks nice on the outside and inside. Their second floor has seating with a beautiful view of the Washington, DC Nationals Stadium. The variety of food selections was good and wide variety of wine and cocktail selections. The only change I would suggest is offering a brownie with their vanilla ice cream and fudge dessert item. Other than that this establishment is definitely worth a try and can see myself visiting again. Be sure to make a reservation in advance for better and faster seating.
I really wanted to enjoy this place. I live in the neighborhood and looked forward to it opening. Although the server really tried, the experience was fair/poor. It was my birthday. We walked to enjoy a birthday dinner. I received cold coffee, ended up ordering only soup. Soup comes with no rolls and I had to ask for crackers. People were pleasant but it did not live up to my expectations.
Good food and neat concept but service could have been better.
Food and presentation was good. A little noisy.
