   They should not take 12:30 reservations if they are going to harass you on the fact that they close at 1pm for brunch. My friend and I had a horrible experience there yesterday. The wait staff were in earshot talking bad about us because they were ready to go. One server said, “I told her when she came in that we closed at 1!” My friend who sat opposite of me saw the cook rolling their eyes when the food order was placed. There was also a long strand of blonde hair on the silverware. They started drawing the blinds closed as we were still sitting there eating. And to top it all off, my chicken was cooked in old grease and my waffles were half done. Word to the wise: if you want to be in a profession where you absolutely have to get off on time, consider a different one OR work for an establishment with different policies as to when they stop allowing patrons to be seated. 0/5 stars.

   Food was good except my table had yellow tail and chicken that was slightly undercooked. Cocktails were great. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The ambiance was really nice and there was even live music. However this is a hotel restaurant so some guests are coming down from their rooms quite casually dressed. Valet parking was a little hectic as cars were piled up around the lobby doors.

   Great service. Beautiful place. Food was good- devilled eggs were fantastic. The yellowtail was a little bland and needed some sort of better seasoning or a crust on top. The chicken wings were wonderful. Dessert seasonal creme brûlée fantastic even though warm. Overall a great meal.

   It’s my anniversary with my wife of 24 years and we wanted a special quite place for dinner. The location is great. Free parking and the food was ok but it could have been better. I looking forward to doing brunch soon.

   We went for Brunch today. Guess what ? The menu on line is not what they offer in the restaurant. The scrimp and grits are not on the brunch menu. I struggled to find something on the menu that would be agreeable to my stomach. Please add the scrimp and grits back to the menu. I didn’t enjoy the food today.

    We went as a part of Queen Fest to try out a new Restaurant. I was surprise that it was in. Hotel. The Food and service was great. The price was still over $.100.00 with wine. $$$$.

    Tried it during Restaurant Week in Charlotte. For a hotel restaurant it was surprisingly good. Our server Sarah was great and the food was scrumptious. Only downside was the noise level. Open kitchen plus hard surfaces and live music made it quite loud.

    I went to the Golden Owl Tavern for a restaurant week. I chose the squash soup and the short ribs. I did not care for the squash soup at all. It was not creamy and kind of sour. The short ribs were good. But my service wasn’t very good. I sat at the bar and there were two bartenders, most of the time I was the only one there and they didn’t even ask if I wanted a second glass of wine so I didn’t have one. I also had to pay seven dollars to park. The parking garage sign said to bring your ticket in for validation, but when I asked, they said they only validate valet.

    First time at Golden Owl, won't be the last. Everything from wait (had reservations) to food to service was top notch. Uptown fine dining with much easier access.

    Save yourself time, money, and headache. The waitstaff don't even know their own menu and tried to charge me $34 for a piece of fish that said $10 when added to a salad. The margaritas were great but TERRIBLE service.

    Food that we received was outstanding, especially the desserts. I’d go back just for desserts. We had one of each and they were awesome. Our problem was we had a non meat eater and they had no fish in (I know supply is an issue but that was not acceptable) Even Shrimp and Grits had a meat sauce. So overall good (Great Desserts) just need to have Vegan options.

    Absolutely love their food. The meatloaf is extraordinary - even if it’s luke warm. I’m also not a fan of their “one check per table” policy. But hey, if it’s just you and one other person, you should be ok…LoL. Otherwise, expect delays, determine who’ll cover the check (and their CashApp) prior to arrival!

    Was very disappointed with my last visit as I invited a colleague here for a lunch meeting and spoke highly of the restaurant. The staff was pulled for a training so the response time was slow, the devilled eggs that are pictured are not served during lunch (my reason for selecting this restaurant) and the lunch menu is extremely limited. I asked for balsamic dressing and I had to wait for the chef to make it - isn't that a common item that should always be on hand? The restaurant was pretty empty so I suspect others are choosing to go elsewhere as well. Beautiful restaurant, good food but please add to your menu and focus on customer service.

    Dinner: Everything I tried to order they didn't have. Then I took the waitress suggestion and she came back and said they did not have that either. So I took what I could get, the food was ok. I ordered wine and they did not have the first three that I asked for (type of wine, not a specific name request). Breakfast: Buffet only on Sunday morning. Everything that was supposed to be hot was cold. $22 for a cold and unappetizing buffet.

    My main issue with the Golden Own Tavern was that it was not what it was advertised to be. It was not the chef run cozy restaurant that appears on social media and their website. It's a hotel restaurant. We made reservations (no mention anywhere that is inside a hotel) due to their REALLY GOOD looking brunch menu. We arrived early, and had a car complimentary valet parked. I was a bit surprised that it was in a hotel, but I've had great meals in hotels before, and it was 1115 on a Sunday morning. We arrived to the "tavern" and saw two very harried and hurried servers busting their butts. One greeted us and told us as long as we had a reservation we were ok. We did, they seated us at 1129 (our reservation was 1130). They then proceeded to tell us it was a breakfast buffet. Ok....not what we were expecting or really wanting, but now we are hungry. Food was ok. "higher class" restaurant buffet- eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, etc The fruit was fresh. The coffee was good, but not $4 good, and we never got a refill. Overall, call before you go and make sure they are actually serving the menu they are advertising

    We were in Charlotte for a Rod Stewart concert with friends from home. The restaurant is located inside a very nice Marriott Hotel we were staying in. We were surprised to find a restaurant with this quality inside a hotel. We hope to be back one day.

    The food was just okay. The grilled meatloaf was covered in BBQ sauce that took away from the charred taste. The Hoppin’John dish was too brown- it needed some green and red vegetables to cut the sameness. It would be a good shareable side. The service was quick and friendly.

    We went because it took reservations for brunch and then it still took two hours between waiting for a table, then waiting for a server, then waiting for the food. The food was okay, but $100 for breakfast food should be something special, not just okay.

    The ambiance was nice. Located in the Marriott on UNC Charlotte's campus. The food descriptions on the menu looked appealing. We were told what items were not available first thing. The best item was the corn bread appetizer. The wait for food and drinks was a bit long. The waiter told us that a specific craft cocktail drink we ordered. Could not be ordered again. The bartender reported that he couldn't make it again. The Food presentation was nice. Unfortunately our fried entrées were overcooked. The collard greens were yummy. Overall we were disappointed.
