great food! great margaritas! people waiting to get in
Food wasn’t that great. Not authentic Mexican. I expected more.
Nice restaurant,good food,good service.
Two different songs blaring at once 😬
I had such a good time for my birtbday. Drinks and food are both excellent!
My family and I love coming here. We are never disappointed when we come the waiters are always nice and on point. Maria is the waitress we get normally and she is fantastic. Keep up the amazing work.
Met at Guapo’s for an after work dinner. Great space to do this and the food was good and reasonably priced.
The food is really good (even if the proportion are really big). The ambiance is very friendly, very noisy but if you're looking for good food+having fun+chill I would recommend this place.
We’ve loved the guapos in shirlington, so when we found ourselves in Bethesda, we figured we would try it. Probably the WORST service I’ve received at a restaurant. It seemed they were staffed for a regular Sunday evening, not one where the Monday was a national holiday and it was packed. We were asked if we were ready to order twice before our appetizers arrived. When my main course came out, the rest of my family’s food wasn’t served until a full ten minutes later. There was no recognition of the awful service, or any offer to accommodate us in any way. What an embarrassment for Guapos.
Staff was great and very attentive even though it was a busy evening. The food is always good and my kids love to eat here. It can get a little noisy at times.
Guapo’s claims they don’t take reservations, and the hostesses had never heard of open table. You guys need to talk to each other, or take Guapo’s off your app.
Guano's is a family staple. We have been there too many times to count. The chips and margaritas are good. The taco salad, quesadillas, and enchiladas are favorites. One odd thing about our most recent visit---the restaurant seemed to be in the middle of a renovation. The top half of the walls was re-done. But the bottom half was mostly hardie board. It was odd. I'm not sure I've ever seen a restaurant operating partially finished. But the place was packed--so I guess they made the right move being open the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Overall, I say go to Guapos. Pro-tip: always sit in the front section (closest to Wisconsin Ave.), because the back area is weird and drafty.
Nice mexican resturant but Very Loud hard to have conversation with anyone hearing aid/issue without shouting... Fun for birthday or other celebration... nothing special about food average/good Tex-mexican
Though it was rainy and cold outside, it was worth the travel, I love Guapo's! The food was A-mazing, definitely what my friend I needed that night. And the service was really great for that time of night.
Can’t compare to Cactus Cantina or Rosa Mexicano. It was alright but will not go back! Margaritas were very weak, we ordered 3pitchers of Margaritas but weren’t good. If you are a Mexican restaurant you should know how to make Margarita. Best thing was Guacamole:)
Excellent food, generous portions, good margaritas.
Really hard to hear in the space but excellent food and service with great value
Our first time at this restaurant and it was very very good!
when we come back to DC we will eat here again!
The food had a uniform flavor without layers. I had the crispy shelled beef and chicken tacos, which were under flavored. My friend had the mixed seafood ceviche, and the flavors were bright and delicious. The chips are too thin and broke when dipped in the chili con queso, which, btw, looked like velveeta and rotel. Finally, the damn servers kept coming every few minutes to ask how we were doing. Every. Server. Easy, buddies. Let us actually swallow a bite before you accost us.
Whenever we come to DC from South Carolina to visit our daughter we always go to Guapos and it never disappoints. Food is always delicious and service is great
My Mom's Bday!
Really excellent service. Food was fantastic. Lots of couples and families. Fresh salsa was the best we've had.
We weren't expecting the decibels. Had not been here in decades. Most of our favorite Mexican places are not in Bethesda. The exception is Tia Queta's and we'd been there recently, so decided to try Guapo's. Very loud bar scene on the way in. A tortilla machine in the entry hall was a good sign. We were happy with the food. The chips were light and crispy, the cheese nachos actually arranged -not a hot mess like in some places. Nice touch having the guac/sour cream/pico on a separate plate to add as desired. Our chile rellenos and shrimp Veracruz were nicely done and more refined than you'd expect in this spot. Service was if anything a little slow, which was not a problem. In this setting I'd be more concerned if it were fast. I can see how they've held out here all these years. But in a corner table against a wall we measured 95 dB, dropping only to 80 or so later on. As the head of the American Speech Hearing & Language Assoc. wrote recently in the Post, why must restaurants see extreme noise as a positive sign of so-called liveliness?
We stayed in Bethesda during a weekend stop in the DC area. Guapos was conveniently located to the hotel, and decently priced. We enjoyed a pitcher of margarita with dinner.
Every trip to Guapo's is outstanding! And the pollo criollo brings me back time and time again. I never get tired of it!
My family loves Guapos on Wisconsin Ave. It is our go-to for casual dining. Staff is very friendly and food is great. Best salsa while you wait for your meal. It is a bit loud, but we can still hear one another.
This is a very loud Guapos with stone walls and floors amplifying the noise. If you don't mind it, the food is good and a great value. But it's kind of hard to talk if you want to do that during your meal.
Fast and friendly service. Good food and excellent Margarita ($5) for happy hour.
First time back in over 13 years. Used to eat their Seafood Enchiladas - went back with my (then boyfriend), now husband (& kids) and my meal as well as atmosphere was just as great! Thank you Guapos!
Great food and excellent service. One entree came out wrong, but they were quick to turn around a new, correct dish and were apologetic. It was pricey, but it's also Bethesda.
Please try the Guacamole and the Ceviche.
Everything was great.. but the Guac was amazing!!!!
Unfortunately, the fajitas (chicken and steak) were not as good as the last time ( April 2016). I can't say exactly why, but the fajita seasoning was different --more bland--and the steak was tougher than before. I was very disappointed since Guapo's had a been our favorite go-to place for fajitas.
Four friends get together for dinner at Guapos on a monthly basis, and we're never disappointed. The margaritas are great, and the food is quite good. The menu features both Mexican and Latin American dishes, so there's a lot to choose from. There are usually many birthdays being celebrated at other tables with song, dessert and a large sombrero for the victim.
