Hank's Pasta Bar
Great experience. Food was tasty & service attentive. We’ll be back 😊
Glad Chef Shannon is back in the area!!
A neighborhood gem with plenty of seasonal cocktails and delicious surprises.
Food is always amazing here. There are always new specials but their classics are great too. I've enjoyed every it's I've tried - octopus and crostini appetisers are great! As is the malfade, gnocci, Bolognese, and ravoili. It's a bit pricey if you have some appetizers, drinks, dinner, and dessert, but I would say very worth it.
Fresh pasta and seafood in a casual setting. Excellent service.
The Food and Server was EXCELLENT !!!
Noise level was to high as it was difficult for our party of 4 to carry on a conversation.
They should install some acoustical tiles !
We choose to sit outside, on a very pleasant evening, we had the area to ourselves, making it very quiet, additional our server paid attention to us regularly.
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was just the right pace - we never felt rushed and never had to wait. We ordered a crostini sampler and it was great, and easy to share. The pasta was delicious. I would definitely return!
I sat outside which was quite pleasant. Although I was disappointed that they did not have the double melon soup advertised on the website menu, I found solace in the grilled octopus. It was the best i've had in the States -- and I eat it a lot! The meatballs were good. Spaghetti primavera could have used a little more asparagus and fewer tomatoes and DEFINITELY LESS GARLIC. My plate was rimmed with garlic slices I picked out of the dish. It overwhelmed the dish. Key Lime Pie was delicious. My server, Lisa, was attentive (except at the end) and did comp the meatballs due to the over-abundance of garlic in the pasta dish. So good customer service there. I'll go back for sure -- if for nothing else, to try that melon soup!!
Hank’s Pasta Bar is a hidden gem in North Old Town. Always a great time with excellent service and wonderful menu. Highly recommended.
Everything was delicious! Loved my spaghetti and meatballs. Had lots of vegetables in the sauce which have it a nice sweetness. The meatballs were very tender. My friend had the vegetable risotto and it was creamy and well seasoned. We also shared a fennel salad which was very refreshing. A great quite spot to catch up with friends.
We LOVE your pasta, but bring back the family menu!!!!
All four of us enjoyed our meal. I had the linguine with clams which was delicious. Service is always great. Music was a little loud for a Sunday evening.
This small local delight offers up the freshest and most delicious meals in old town! Ask for Lisa as your server she’s the best!
We always have a delectable meal at Hank’s pasta bar. One of us had the bolognese fettuccine and the other mushroom soup (heavenly) and burratta salad. Beautiful atmosphere, exquisite service—it was a trip to Italy!.
Great place and food. Server was just a little too attentive and kept trying to up sell us additional drinks.
Went there to celebrate a birthday and really had a delicious meal with great service. I have been to Hanks many times and have never been disappointed.
Avoid making a 2:45 reservation. The kitchen closes at 3PM and they will rush you through ordering process and the entire meal in general. Not an enjoyable experience
I would come back, however the music was louder than I would expect for a restaurant
The food and the service were excellent as always. It is always a pleasure to go to this restaurant
Delicious food and drink. Great service ask for Lisa!
Food is wonderful! We are looking forward to our next visit.
I knew it was great for dinner, but it was unexpectedly great for brunch. A very diverse and delicious menu. It was also not over crowded and, as with their dinner experience, great for kids. The innovative brunch cocktail menu was a perfect kicker!
Great food! The octopus is the best!
It was a Friday evening and the place was pretty packed, so it was definitely worth making a reservation in advance. The location is not in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, but in a calmer area on the northern end, with easy parking on the street, which made it more relaxing than one might perhaps expect. The food: yum! My husband enjoyed the shrimp linguini, and my beef lasagna with pecorino was scrumptious. My picky-eater tweens loved the Bucatini Cacio E Pepe (pasta with parmesean, pepper, & cream sauce), and exclaimed in shock that they even liked the spinach dish on the side (OMG!). One of my favorite things was the fact that they have wonderful pear-flavored drinks: a cocktail for me, and sodas for the girls, where they could decide their own proportions of flavored syrup to bubbly water. It was a little on the noisy side, but not too bad. Friendly and pleasant staff too. This was my second time at Hank's Pasta Bar, and hopefully not my last!
Great food and great service!
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant. While we enjoyed the fresh pasta, good service, and delicious gelato.
Great food, exceptional service, can’t wait to go back!
A well kept secret tucked away on the fringes of Old Town. I found it by chance on "Open Table" and I am glad I did. Decor is plain, food was excellently prepared and the service was exemplary. If you're in the mood for pasta, as I was, don't pass this place by.
Came here with a group for brunch after a race. The waitress was very accommodating and attentive, even as the place filled up.
As we were a large group, she brought out all the food together- even though this did lead to some plates not being as warm. We had the Ricotta appetizer, Mafalde, Burger, French Toast, omelette, panini and meatball sub. We also ordered a side of bacon- which was expensive for 3 slices! Everything was pretty good, albeit a tad on the pricey side. The drinks were also a little weak. All in all, we will return as it’s close and the service is great!
Excellent food and excellent service. We will definitely return.
It’s become my Friday night ritual! Super staff and delicious food! Deserts are killers too. Must try!
Planned a birthday celebration here and it was perfect. Great staff, great food, great fun!
Three of us dined at Hank's on Saturday night and the meal was outstanding! My only complaint was that there were only four shrimp in the entree diavolo shrimp dish, which was a surprise given the price. But the lasagna was to die for and that's what I'll be ordering from now on. Spaghetti with meatballs was also delish.
I can't recommend this gem enough! The pasta was perfection, and the service was great. We went with a large party for dinner the night before Easter. The menu had changed from winter to spring that week, meaning that my Mom's favorite dish, Pasta Carbonara, had rotated off the menu. She was bummed, so imagine her delight when our waiter returned to say the chef had agreed to make the dish just for her! The chef also came out to greet us after the meals were delivered.
Food was absolutely wonderful. The owner and chef visited each table. Our server was very attentive. Overall pleasant experience. Will def return.
Good food, good people, good location. The only thing missing was the complimentary dark chocolates that they give away after dinner at Hank's Oyster Bar.
Great service, great food and comfortable seating. We will definitely be returning.
The food is amazing! A Light but filling meal!
