The food was poorly seasoned, and the staff struggled to explain the dishes properly. The restaurant seemed to be aiming for a high-end, luxury Korean BBQ experience, but the service felt more like that of a cheap neighborhood BBQ joint. As soon as the restaurant got busy, not only the servers but even the manager seemed completely overwhelmed and unable to handle the situation. Overall, the service fell far short of the upscale dining experience they were trying to deliver.

Very new & beautiful interiors, good for a special occasion. Got the butcher's set and for a moderate appetite, it's definitely way more than enough. They offer a variety of banchan. Sujin (Adele) was professional & attentive.

Had some high expectations given the social media buzz (and being Korean and wanted to judge for myself). The interior was really nice and incorporated alot of Korean culture. We started with drinks- I got the jasmine sook and was kinda disappointed. First, it didn’t look like a cocktail (no garnish like the menu picture). Second, there was no mugwort or alcohol taste! I thought I was having tea. My friend got the Bae Grapefruit and said it was good. At least this drink was decorated to look special. We got the butcher set, which was a good value for the variety and amount. I was quite impressed with the authenticity of the side dishes. The kimchi, spicy squid, lotus root and Korean jello were very good. Japchae wasn’t too special but was tasty enough. The gujulpan was a surprise, since you rarely find this dish at Korean restaurants. The meat cuts were very good and for the value, a generous amount. My issue is with the service - our waiter seemed really shy and didn’t sound too confident when explaining the dishes. He also cooked each cut of meat without giving us time to eat in between so pieces of cooked meat were piling up on a side dish getting cold. They should expect diners to pace themselves and check to see if they are ready for the next cut. OR keep the meat on a warm plate or grill on low heat to keep pieces warm. After he cooked our meat, he never came back! We were seated in front of the kitchen and no one came by to asked how we doing or offer additional side dishes. We also ordered the mushroom pot rice to have with our meat but it didn’t come! I asked a random waiter and gave us bowls of white rice, which we didn’t order. It was an additional 10 minutes before we got what we ordered. Also, we had to ask for our dessert. However, they knew it was my friend’s birthday and gave us a cake slice which was special. I understand it is still their opening so I don’t want to be too critical, just service was inconsistent (and it wasn’t that busy).

It was our first time dining at Hwaro Korean Restaurant, and it was extra special because we came here as BTS fans! 💜 We were so happy to get a spot at the restaurant and experience a place that made our visit even more memorable. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the overall experience was wonderful. As ARMY, being here made us feel even more connected to our love for BTS! Thank you, Hwaro, for making our first visit so special. We would love to come back again! 💜💜💜

This is my 2nd time at HWARO since it opened about a month ago and has become my new fave K-BBQ spot - sooo worth the trip to Toronto! The culinary experience is top-notch and even rivals NYC's Michelin ⭐️ COTE. Hwaro's meat was high-quality and their generous spread of banchans was impressive, fresh and well-balanced. Ingrid, our server, was attentive, engaging and elevated our experience. She was the BEST! Cheers to Ingrid and HWARO! See you soon!
