Excellent food, great service decently priced. A great experience overall.
Disappointed in the entres. Appizer good. Desserts good. Overall not up to expectations from friends who had been there before. Half price wine bottles were a plus.
My husband and I have had delicious meals at Idylwood Grill for the last 3+ years. We drive 30 minutes to Idylwood Grill and it is one of our Top Two favorite restaurants. Although, this past experience was disappointing. We were a table of 4 and two of us ordered Filet Mignon 'Medium'. My friend's filet was 'well-done' and my filet was 'very medium well'. We both sent back our filets. My friend's second filet was done 'medium' as she requested, but my second filet was done 'medium rare' not 'medium. I did not send this one back. I always order filet mignon at Idylwood and in the past has been cooked perfectly. It's possible there is a new chef. To me, Chef 101 is being able to cook steak accurately. I was disappointed but since this was the only negative experience out of many, I will go back again. If I have a second negative experience, I will likely stop patronizing this restaurant.
The food is exceptional for a local restaurant. Perfectly prepared Cesar and avocado salads. Excellent veal and scallops main courses. Reasonably priced wines by the glass. End it will a nice Irish coffee and you'll have a very enjoyable dinner. It can be noisy when full, but it's a comfortable, friendly noise. We'll go again.
This a fantastic place great food, wonderful low key atmosphere. A great experience overall.
This is a neighborhood gem tucked away in a strip center. The menu was very good with some unusual specials, and good, reasonably priced wine. Make a reservation, because Friday night was quite full. We had calamari, Caesar salads, beef with noodles and lobster tortellini—all were very good. There was also live music playing, which was surprisingly good as well. It’s a definite repeat!
Fantastic! I love their mussels & I order that every chance I get. My daughter was truly stuffed with the lobster ravioli & we shared an avocado salad as well. Although my hubby was sick, it didn’t deter us from having a fabulous post Valentine’s Day dinner.
Lucky to have such a fine restaurant in our neighborhood. Food is always first rate, the ambience and service, fine and a wide selection on the menu. We highly recommend it.
We first came here in 2017 for Valentine's Day. We decided to come back in 2019 for the same occasion and the dinner was fantastic. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. We plan to be back!
The Idylwood Grill has never let us down but their fixed price special menu for Valentines Day deserves special mention. First we were impressed by the great variety of selections for each of the three courses. When, after great difficulty, we made our selections, we could not have been happier. Hopefully, some of these special offerings will make an appearance on the regular menu when next we return.
Great local restaurant. High end but moderately priced v
A neighborhood gem that was wonderful. So glad we found it.
Overall, I really like this place. It does not loo like much from the parking lot but there is a nice atmosphere inside and the food and wine are very good. No exception on the meal that I and 3 dining mates had on Saturday. The beef and lamb was cooked and seasoned well. Steak was requested medium rare and it was right on target. My only complaint about the food is the bread is so so mediocre and almost flavorless. Adding the provided olive oil really doesn't improve it. I know that we don't come for the bread, but I think a different choice (or choices) would really elevate the meal. Service is usually very good and very personal but this night was maybe busier than usual and, although we took our time (since I was meeting with friends we had not seen for a long time and ones who I thought would enjoy their first visit to Idylwood Grill), service felt rushed and almost brusque. Again, going to chalk it up to a busy night for the restaurant which, honestly, I was happy to see! This is a very good dining option that I am hoping is around for many more years.
As always, great food and service.
A hidden gem...this was our second visit and it was as good as the first time!
Always terrific!! Everything is excellent ...the food, service, etc. etc.
If food is more important than friendliness of service staff, this is a great place. Food is fantastic. Some of the staff were friendly - others couldn't crack a smile.
The restaurant was not very busy. My food was delicious but all three of us stated that everything was too salty. The corn soup, the sauce on the fish & the mushroom ravioli & the chicken. So, although we had a great experience previously, this visit was not wonderful. Also wondered why the bread was toasted and no butter to accompany it.
My poor mother-in-law could hardly eat a thing due to the over salting.
As always, a GREAT meal. It’s my “go to” place and absolutely one of my VERY favorite places to dine.
Amazing! The food was ridiculously good. It was so delicious that my boyfriend and I barely talked because we were so focused on our food. The owner gave us a complimentary German chocolate cake which was so delicious and rich. I recommend Idylwood Grill to everyone! 10/10
We had not been in a couple years and went twice in the last month. It is really hard now to find individually owned restaurants in the Tyson’s area. This one is so special. The specials offered change frequently. The chef does an amazing job and the food is surprisingly gourmet! The lamb chops were very meaty and perfectly cooked. The Branzino, also cooked to perfection. Very fresh seafood. Nice background lounge music but great place to have a conservation! Make a request for your favorite tune. The musician is very talented and has a great personality. Excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere. Nice to feel your business is appreciated!
The staff went out of their way to accommodate my restless children. My kids are two and three years old. The staff brought them a box of toys to keep them occupied. They also prepared food that wasn't on the menu to suit our party's dietary needs. It was a wonderful experience.
Although all the party found their food to be delicious, it took just over an hour for it to be served.
The choice of ambient music was to our liking, but two of us left the restaurant with our ears ringing it was so loud - especially towards the end of the evening.
The service was reasonable except it was odd to see the service staff all dressed to go home 15 minutes before closing time.
Certainly not cutting edge, but very solid/reliable "old fashion" bistro-ish place.
Idylwood Grill offers casual dining with a very warm and friendly atmosphere. The seared scallops over risotto was very well prepared. The food was a little pricey compared to similar restaurants in the area. Dessert and wine very good as well.
This place is definitely a hidden gem. Would never know it existed if not for a friend. It’s in a very nondescript location. Went for a birthday dinner with my husband. The food was delicious and the wait staff was fabulous. Two negative marks for me- they had the huge tv on (no sound) and the bathroom isn’t very nice. Not one person in the restaurant was there to watch tv, so it’s odd that they leave it on. Oh well... despite the two negatives, I’d still go back.
Saturday evening with piano dinner music snd friends — perfect to enjoy an excellent meal and good conversation. The Grill has a varied menu with a Mediterranean flavor. Our table had Bronzino, trout, and veal dishes, all perfectly prepared and presented. Service was good with wine recommendations that were right on the mark. This is not just another strip mall cafe, but a fine restaurant with a dressed down touch. This is our go-to place!
A real gem. The cooking is flavorful and French. We go there when we we want real and delicious food. They will help you pair with wine from their excellent collection.
You will feel welcome there. Don’t miss dessert either!
A real gem-outstanding food and service-this restaurant is right up there with the best in the Metropolitan area.
The food is great, the service as well. my favorite place
New Year’s Eve dinner was fantastic! Group of 6 everyone loved their meals.
Had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner with the family at this local gem! We will definitely be back. Thx Hedi and team for a wonderful evening.
This is a marvelous neighborhood restaurant with exceptional food and wine. It's the kind of place 'chic' restaurants aspire to, but don't manage. This place feels real. The owner is there, people care.
Excellent as always. Glad we found this place a few years ago. Had the stuffed salmon for the first time and it was superb. My wife had the crab cake on ravioli and it had no filler, just crab. Looking forward to more meals here next year.
Never disappointed. Best neighborhood restaurant in Falls Church
I’ve been to Idylwood several times in the past few years. I’ve never had a bad experience before. There was no excuse for what happened on Christmas Eve. Our waiter was surly and inattentive. The waiter took the drink order which took a while. We had to ask several times for bread. Waiter took the order. He brought the appetizers. The calamari was put on the bread plate, which usually comes on a dinner plate. One of the orders was a rack of lamb. It was served cold and brought it to the attention of the waiter. Brought a second one and it was lukewarm, I took one bite and put it to the side of the table. The waiter didn’t pay any attention or bother to ask me,”Is there something wrong with your dinner”. I did not want to make a scene, since It was Christmas Eve. I live 20 minutes from the restaurant. From the time I left my house to the time I got back it was a little over two hours. I do not consider this dining.
This place has a nice homey local ambiance that is always welcoming.
Everybody enjoyed their meals: steak, branzino, rack of lamb, lamb shank. My husband declared that the lamb shank was the best he had ever eaten .
All of our entrees were great—filet mignon, chicken piccata and crab cake with spinach ravioli. And half price wine on Sunday was a great bonus 👍
