Great food and service. Half-priced bottle wine day was nice surprise. Good wine selection
Slow, inattentive service even though it wasn’t very crowded. Food was average. Nice that they are accommodating to kids
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner. The food was amazing. He ordered the duck breast over mushroom risotto and I ordered the lamb shank over risotto. Both melt in your mouth delicious. Service was outstanding. There was even live music! It was good music too!!! We will definitely return.
Loved this place! Felt like such a family restaurant. The service was amazing, the noise level was great, and EVERYONE, even the ones dining in, were so so friendly. It's a bit pricey, and we didn't eat dinner. We came for wine and dessert. PLEASE get dessert, both the chocolate cake and german cake were AMAZING!
I ordered the egg battered flounder with sautéed vegetables. The entree had a wonderful cream sauce. The flounder was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the Lemon Pepper Tilapia over a bed of sautéed spinach. She loved her meal. Idylwood Grill continues to serve consistently outstanding food at reasonable prices.
This is always a favorite for our large work groups throughout the year. Favorite dishes include the shrimp ajo, branzino, crab cakes, avocado salad, banana cream pie, and basically every thing on the menu is always superb. Great wine list. Impeccable service. Truly a hidden gem!
This is a little secret wine bar around the corner from the main plaza. The food is excellent and they have a great selection of wines. We really enjoyed ourselves and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed.
Great small business with amazing food and wine. Atmosphere is welcoming, great for date night but still very family friendly. Never been disappointed by the service or the food!
Fabulous food and wonderful service! One of our favorites.
Everything was delicious, as usual. The service was excellent, and it was a relatively quiet environment, unlike many other modern places which are designed to be as noisy as possible. Overall an outstanding restaurant.
The vegetables here were exquisite! I also enjoyed the flounder and I don't normally order fish while out. Nice ambiance. Nice owner who came round and made it feel like home. Will definitely go back. :)
Food and service are good, with the food being a bit more expensive than we expected. The thing we didn't like about the place was the lounge singer who sang from behind his keyboard. Not very good and kind of "sang" a strange Happy Birthday to a different customer. Having a singer added nothing to the experience but did detract from it. I do recommend the place, with these caveats.
Always a pleasurable experience when visiting Idylwood. Staff is always courteous and the food is always excellent. It always feels like the meals are priced about $3 - $5 over my expectancy... However, We have eaten there about 7 or 8 times, so it must not be too bad! :-)
No one else prepares a meal like Idylwood Grill! It's our family favorite for special occasions, and Mother's Day did not disappoint. Everything they make is flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service is attentive without feeling overwhelming.
We enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day brunch at Idylwood Grill. The menu choices were are delicious, and the seafood was exquisitely prepared and presented. The ambiance is simultaneously classy and casual. Roses were handed out to moms for Mother's Day. The service was quick and very professional.
Even the kids' menu was extensive and our picky eater found something to eat and enjoy.
Looking forward to going again!
Outstanding service from the moment we walked in. Recognized us as returning customers. Full attention of the staff. Nice smooth jazz BACKGROUND MUSIC. Food is always great!
Our go-to place when we want a nice meal with plenty of fish, pasta, and meat dishes. Mediterranean- American- French cuisine. All are good, and they are able to make almost the entire menu gluten-free. They recently shortened their menu quite a bit, but the only thing that I thought they could offer more of were appetizer salads.
Our wedding anniversary
Good Food, Good service, Great neighborhood restaurant
We have eaten here for a decade or more and always like the food. It is a neighborhood place with very good food and ambiance. This time it was A bit noisy with a table for 12 with six small kids clustered on one end of the table.
Had nice live jazz music too. Lovely place. Great food.
Steak was served in brown gravy
This is a hidden neighborhood gem, a warm elegantly casual setting that reminds one of being in Europe. Their mussels marinere, filet mignon au poivre frites, rack of lamb, lobster ravioli and flounder francaise are just a few of their delicious offerings. Be sure to save room for a dessert such as mango sorbet, chocolate mousse cake or Irish coffee. Their half-priced bottles of wine on Sundays are a great value.
As always, we had a wonderful meal on April 6 at Idylwood Grill. Tasty food, good service, reasonable prices, and no corkage fee for the wine we brought. You can also have a conversation without shouting, a rarity these days. They could vary the menu a bit more but there is adequate choice.
The Idylwood Grill is a little gem hidden from view from Rt 7. The food is very good and the prices are very reasonable. I asked for something off-menu (it had been on the menu previously) and they accommodated me. We will go again.
Excellent food and service. There were many choices at reasonable prices.
Good food! Portions a little small. A little overpriced.
First time, and we'll be back. The restaurant got good reviews, and we enjoyed it very much. Food was excellent, and the quietness meant we could have a great conversation
Prices were excellent too.
A wonderful inviting restaurant! A great place to meet friends for a comfortable casual delicious lunch.
This was our best meal at Idylwood Grill that would stand up anywhere. Veal piccata and Bronzino were our entrees with a Napa Cellars Chardonnay. Crepe brûlée was delicious with espressos. Recommend it! Great service!
Great place to have a quiet dinner with friends.
Hard to find a spot I think he area as quiet and with fantastic food!
Convivial place for a 7PM Friday date-night. Overall a pretty OK l’il neighborhood upish-scale joint. Live keyboardist helped mellow-out the jangly noise level. Cocktails well-prepared- not quite generous, but decent. We each went for the 3-course prix-fixe menu. My mussels marinière were very good, but my sweetie’s shrimp ajo were way undersized relative to the “jumbo” description. Servers were brusque, and tried to snatch away our plates before we were done sopping up the savory sauces with our bread... Whoops! The entrees - boeuf bourguignon and salmon saffron - were well seasoned, balanced, with good not great flavor, but came out tepid rather than hot, and didn’t knock our socks off. Wine pairings worked perfectly. Desserts were workmanlike rather than stellar. We finished up with coffee, and enjoying a wee buzz from the wine, admired the funky artwork while listening to the keyboardist noodle around with some classic French café numbers. “Hey”, we said, “Dude’s got decent musical chops.” And off we went...
Tried restaurant during Falls Church Restaurant Week and was very impressed. Will return soon. Nice piano music.
Loved my sea bass, but my husband wasn't wild about his crab cake. Restaurant week really contributed to value for the price.
We went to Idylwild Grill for restaurant week. They had a good number of special entrees available. I had rack of lamb with gnocchi which was both substantial and tasty. My wife had lobster ravioli which were also good. The chocolate mousse cake was also great.
A great neighborhood gem! Excellent food, nice ambiance, great service, and handy location. It's our "dining room away from home" when we have guests, but can't do a meal at home. Even when busy, you can still hold a comfortable conversation.
The service at Idylwood Grill was excellent and the food was delicious, timely served and just the right temperature. I explained my allergies and menu adaptation needs and there was no resistance whatsoever with accepting and working with them. I had grilled salmon (no butter, no seasoning of any kind) on caesar salad (no croutons, dressing on the side). It was a large salmon filet, perfectly grilled (crisp on outside, flakey moist on the inside). And the bread and rolls were served right out of the oven - with choice of olive oil or butter. My dinner companion - who mistakenly had not asked for low sodium - found the veal picatta sauce a little salty and even though it was not the server's fault, he provided a lovely complimentary desert. The menu was varied and I look forward to returning. The only negative was the time it took to park as the shared lot was quite full when I arrived.
Food was great! Server wasn’t that great. Would go back though! Great prices and delicious food with a great selection.
Very good neighborhood restaurant. Food was very good. Busy for a Sunday night.
