Welcome to Il Gusto Restaurant and Wine Bar, Cheshire's newest Italian dining experience, brought to you by restaurateur Gina Baca and Frederico Agraja, the chef and owner of the acclaimed Adriana's Restaurant and Wine Bar in New Haven. Situated at the historic location of the former Waverly Inn at 286 Maple Ave., Il Gusto revives a cherished local landmark, combining the rich heritage of its predecessor with the vibrant flavors of modern Italian cuisine. Il Gusto will feature a menu reminiscent of Adriana's, offering a delectable selection of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes. With seating for over 220 guests and a spacious banquet room, we are the perfect venue for dining, parties, meetings, and special events. Our goal is to preserve the history of the Waverly Inn by showcasing framed photographs of the original establishment, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere for our guests.

The food was good but there was no choice of sides, I would have preferred a baked potato over mashed. The waiter seemed to be a bit short and in a hurry, and the noise level was loud we had to shout at each other to have a conversation. We won’t be going back anytime soon.

We have been here a couple of times and will definitely be coming back. Both of the times we were here, everything was excellent! There is not one thing I can complain about or see them doing better at.

The food was delicious! Service was excellent. It’s just very loud - was difficult for my older parents to hear. But we’ll go back and try different seating :)

The food we ordered was hot, fresh and cooked perfectly. Good drinks and service too and the restaurant is comfortable and visibly appealing.

I would give no star if I could. First, the ambience improves and finally they got rid of the fluorescent sconces. But the place lighting was a bit horrible with two small ceiling chandelier fixtures so tiny that it looks like two nipples almost. Then the service, for health at reason, we ask to substitute potatoes with some thing else. The wait staff two 10 minutes to answer back. And told us there will be a up charge for substitute. Then the food, my pasta dish with sausage smells really bad. Not sure if the sausage is fresh. Then we order ginger ale. The ice is 95% of the drink. And we ask a refill and they charge for the refrill and we had to ask for no ice. with the price they charge and no Salad comes with the meal. This place is not only over price, bad amibience and terrible service. This is the second chance and no more. This will go to the never-visit pile.
