JOI Asian Bistro, located at Domain NORTHSIDE, is the newest concept from Alberto Lombardi and his family run restaurant group, Lombardi Family Concepts. The concept of JOI was born from the idea of bringing popular Southeastern Asian street cuisine for all generations to enjoy and share. Through our menu, consisting of approachable dishes like ramen and chicken katsu and a diverse sushi selection with fish from around the world, our guests are encouraged to embrace the customary Asian approach of shared dishes. The food and drinks were good, but the service could definitely be improved. We were one of the three tables there during lunchtime and the server somehow kept forgetting to check on us. We had to flag him down multiple times. Also, what’s the point of asking whether it was a special occasion when I made a reservation if no one acknowledged that we celebrating two birthdays? I have to admit, we were a little disappointed.

This was not my first time at Joi, I have come here several times over the last five years. Yesterday was an interesting experience, not only did not all of our food come out. We were served incorrect things. The salmon was still raw in the center even after we specified that we wanted it cooked well the quality of the sushi was so poor. I can’t believe somebody would let it even come out of the kitchen. I ordered a Philadelphia roll and four pieces of the roll didn’t even have the other ingredients besides the salmon in it. The service was okay, The guy was really nice, but they were understaffed so all of his tables suffered because of that. The manager kept walking by, but failed to acknowledge our table multiple times. I don’t see me going back here anytime soon. Our server was nice enough to give us an explanation and said that I did go back to corporate and then wanting to cut corners. Apparently they don’t even have a red wine list. I don’t wanna pay a chef properly and our cutting corners on ingredients as well.

It was our first and last time there. The food is just meh. Sushi roll was ‘boring’ and had no sauce on it. We both said that HEB has better sushi rolls. Edamame is just okay. Small amount of edamame for cost. Unagi was fatty and not very good. Brussels sprouts were very good. Service was excellent.

seems like it annoyed them that we came the time we did. got seated and then no one came back to our table for 30 minutes so we walked out. manager was just sitting at the bar, servers were chit chatting. done go here if you want good service or any service at all!

The food was fine. We really enjoyed the shrimp dish. However the waitress was terrible. I am gluten free and was just double checking the gluten free menu items with her and she seemed really annoyed. I asked if the Korean fried chicken was gluten free and she said it says in the menu. Very dismissive and rude. We won’t be coming back. I have enough problems finding gluten free food at restaurants and I was excited to find an Asian place that I could try. So I’m very disappointed

Food good...service wasnt. Food delivery was staggered. Drinks came after appetizers....entrees didnt come out all at once. No clean up during meal.
