Kaz Sushi Bistro
Dinner: Monday – Saturday: 5:30pm – 10:00pm
Katz is always outstanding. The fish is always fresh, the Sushi , Sashimi & cooked appetizers & entres are authentic & the service is always great. I love the new menu which has many new additions including a large choice tasting menu & lots of new dishes. Love love this Sushi Restaurant.
The best sushi restaurant in Washington. (And I’ve been to them all.)
Everything was outstanding, from the food to the decor to the service! The veggie sushi is great -- especially the roasted tomato nigiri which is delicious and quite clever because it looks like tuna. I would love to see even more veggie sushi options (for example, roasted sweet potato or avocado with honey roasted peanuts). The desserts are complex and nicely balanced; our favorites are the run raisin molten chocolate cake and the green tea tiramisu. The white breeze is a nice mocktail.
Wonderful, fresh Sushi but the service could have been quicker and more attentive.
Food is reliably delicious, creative, well prepared; having dined here occasionally for 15 years. The ambiance is respectful, comfortable and sophisticated without being stuffy. Our server and host were very considerate when we notified them that cold air was blowing on our table, offering to relocate us but instead were willing to adjust the air vent direction which solved the problem.
The food and service were excellent!! A must try is the roasted brussel sprouts with sweet potatoes (delicious). This is my new go to sushi spot in DC!!
Was a nice place and the service was good but I have had better sushi at other places in DC
Kaz never fails. If you want delicious, creative, and skillfully made sushi, served in a classy but not too pretentious environment, look no further. We go here all the time, and we are never disappointed! Highly recommended.
Fantastic food and service. The seared salmon belly nigiri in particular is the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life.
We were in DC for a little get away and found Kaz through Open Table. Food was scrumptious! Sushi fresh and delicious. One of thee best servers ever!! Attentive but didn’t hover, friendly but not intrusive, over all a perfect dinner!
Good, simple and fresh dishes A little pricey when compared with other area sushi places
My favorite place! The most unique sushi, melts in your mouth!
Thumbs up to the fresh fish that they use but the shiso leaf that they used on almost all the sashimi and rolls gave a bitter and describable taste to the food. Also, the sashimi and roll pieces are small.
Kaz is an old favorite for a reason! The freshest seafood, creative offerings alongside more familiar fare, and extras like your choice of several green teas, fresh wasabi if you want it, and three different versions of miso soup depending on your preference. These are clearly traditional and yet go beyond your everyday sushi house. The ambiance may be slightly underwhelming, but that's not why you go to Kaz. Eat up and enjoy!
Impeccable from start to finish! High quality ingredients, delicious flavor combinations, attentive service, and classy ambience. The tomato nigiri is amazing and unique! Desserts and cocktails are also refreshingly different yet yummy.
Kaz is a fine sushi restaurant in the sushi desert that is Washington DC. The sushi is fresh and there is a lot to choose from. The only sour note in our meal was the $22 Bird's Nest, which was a slimy quail egg on top of slimy calamari on top of slimy truffle oil. It just wasn't tasty and yes, it was just slimy. The signature sushi and the sake were both very good. The service was generally good, except they forgot the Bird's Nest, which I now wish I hadn't reminded them of.
One of several restaurants we visited while in the US and, I have to say, this place was the absolute best. Food was fabulous - like nothing we have ever eaten before, we tried several small dishes which meant we could sample lots of different flavours, whilst it also catered well for my vegetarian daughter. When we next return to Washington DC (which we fully intend to), this is definitely on my list to eat at again.
Excellent sushi and great service. One of the best I have had.
Food was OK but very expensive for what they serve. Very loud drinking scene which is fun for those who go here to drink, but if you want to enjoy good food in a nice atmosphere, don’t go here. We were very disappointed.
Nice restaurant. The only drawback is the rolls are small and don’t have a lot of fish. So if you order a tuna tartare roll, you get a “touch” of tuna!
Kaz is phenomenal! The food is exquisite (presentation and taste).
Excellent, creative sushi with wonderful service. Highly recommend
Kaz never disappoints. Bright flavors, clearly fresh ingredients, creative food-- simply delicious. It can be hard to find sushi that is reliably high quality, but Kaz is a sure bet. And great options for those of us who tend to lean in a vegetarian direction. Highly recommended.
Started off with seaweed salad which I st6and the miscellaneous sushi and especially the Walu was all very fresh and overall excellent. Strongly recommend to all who appreciate fresh sushi.
Dine for Birthday but nothing was done or said. Sushi was ok for US standard, I wasn’t expecting true Japanese sushi anyways... Good enough for DC restaurant week menu and price.
Kaz should be on every list of the best restaurants in Washington DC. Whether you want meticulously crafted traditional negiri, maki and sashimi or delicious and inventive combinations, this is the place. It ain’t cheap, but it is so worth it.
It was amazing sushi. Very authentic, the sake is also quite tasty. Beautiful atmosphere wonderful service.
We came for dinner and enjoyed the restaurant week menu. Great deal for a big pile of excellent sushi. Will definitely come back!
Love this place! Great food and friendly service, always.
New favorite sushi spot. The salmon belly will change your life. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and did not rush our meal service. He also brought us a small shot at the end of the meal that was light, crisp, and a refreshing end to an overall memorable experience. Do not skip desserts. Recommend the adult green tea and tequila ice cream.
Excellent sushi. Our waiter, a woman, was so wonderful and friendly and made us feel very welcome.
The Best Sushi bar in DC; always a great dining experience and a wonderful atmosphere, great service as well.
Fantastic food, nice buzz, family friendly and great value
Absolutely delicious. This is not your average trendy sushi place. This is sushi the way is is supposed to be. Authentic. Freshest quality and flavors. Made with care for each order. Attention to presentation. We tried several appetizers and especially loved the brussel sprouts and the hamachi crudo. all of our sushi was delicious but we were really impressed with the seared salmon, which we had not ever seen before in this preparation. the sauce was delectable and the salmon was warm and practically melted in our mouths. we will go back. Yaz please to more Kaz!!!!
The food was delicious and the restaurant is quiet enough to have a conversation in a low voice
Consistently the best sushi in DC. Superior fish, as well as excellent nigiri rice (something that is usually overlooked, even at some of the best sushi bars in town.)
We arrived and were seated in the corner of the restaurant. The miso soup was exceptional and probably the best part of the meal. The sake mojito was delicious but weak. The sushi was small but the rice was excellent, I'm just not sure it was worth the price. They were out of a lot of ingredients. Overall, would likely try another spot before returning unless someone else was paying.
This mainstay for DC sushi doesn't disappoint. Try their Sushi Tasting 0011 for a really great experience of flavors. The fish was fresh, the rice perfect and the temperature of both was perfect which is something that seems to elude most sushi places.
The food was alright.
