Kembara is the latest project from Chef Angelo Sosa that embraces Asian street food cultures, exemplifying the tradition of cherishing time-honored recipes, while also playfully innovating upon familiar flavors and techniques for fresh takes.

The menu is an homage to Chef Sosa’s travels across Asia, with inspiration drawn from countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, China, Singapore and Japan.

Each dish is constructed around Chef Sosa’s concept of a “trinity of flavors”—a balance between sweet, sour and salty elements that culminate in a perfect bite of harmony.

We absolutely loved Kembara! The outdoor seating was so beautiful -only surpassed by the spectacular food. We had edamame, sushi and the Thai jewel tuna which almost looked too beautiful to eat…our server Colter was fantastic. Can’t wait to be back

A complete disaster. The dim sum came 3 to a portion, so a party of 2 has to purchase a third one for a complete order. Up charge . In any event, the pork dumplings and shrimp shu mai were like lead bombs with poor texture and tasteless (unless doused with soy sauce.) The crispy spicy tuna was tasteless and— again— served three to an order for two people. Up charge. Finally, the bang bang shrimp tempura was not crisp and golden , although the portion was plentiful for two. Wine and drinks were the only good things we consumed. The manager did comp the meal because of our dissatisfaction. Service was good and we left a full tip based on what the full bill would have been. The chef needs to eat at Roka Akor to experience truly great tempura and sushi.

Soft lighting cast a golden hue over the space. Almost at once, our server, Colter, arrived, offering delicately scented towels to cleanse our hands. He was friendly and attentive, providing unobtrusive service that enhanced the relaxed, intimate atmosphere. The subtle fragrance of the towels was a small but notable detail, signaling attention to the senses beyond taste. Our journey began with the Joy Luck cocktail. Presented in a low glass over a single, glistening ice cube, the drink was creamy with coconut milk, its aroma warm and tropical. The first sip was smooth, a gentle balance of spirit and sweetness that invited a slow, meditative start to the meal. Next came the sweet and spicy shrimp tempura. The dish arrived sizzling and fragrant, the crispy batter still whispering with heat. Each bite brought a satisfying crunch, quickly followed by a wave of sweet heat reminiscent of bang bang shrimp—but here, elevated, more refined, with a depth of flavor that lingered. For our mains, we ventured to the heartier side of the menu. The grilled New York strip arrived first, its charred edges releasing a smoky perfume, perfectly accompanied by tender baby bok choy with a subtle bitterness that balanced the steak’s richness. Beside it, the pork belly noodles promised comfort and delivered with generosity—the noodles tangled with hearty, tender pork belly that surprised with its substance yet satisfied completely. As the evening drew to a close, dessert appeared like a whimsical encore: coffee donuts. The light-as-cloud beignets were tossed in flavored sugar, releasing a soft, sweet scent that mingled with the bold aroma of the Vietnamese coffee dip. The first bite cracked gently, then melted, the warm dough and coffee indulgence a perfect final note.

Our server Clay was incredible, super knowledgeable on everything on the menu. This was some of the best food I’ve ever had, the fusion flavors were incredible from drinks through dessert. Definitely will be returning!
