We went for Sunday brunch. My friends and I had an 11am reservation. The food was great for me, however one of our group has food allergies and started to feel sick after a few bites of her meal. Not a severe reaction, fortunately, but definitely some cross contamination occurred. At 12:13 we were finished with our meal but still chatting, having coffee when our server asked if we could wrap it up since there were other reservations. All said and done we had our table for an hour and 15 minutes……a little rushed, even by American standards.

It’s a laid back cafe style restaurant, the food was really good which is what was important and the overall service was great. Asides from the little challenge to find parking the overall experience was good

Really just a great place to eat. Every time I go here, I get great service, great coffee, and great food. I kept changing my mind on a few things, and my sweet waiter was so happy to accommodate me. I really recommend that you make a reservation if you have a party larger than about four people. They were happy to accommodate everything that I needed with a party of seven. Great value for the money, and great food. I strongly recommend coming here again.

Breakfast with my grandson and his girlfriend was a special event dining at Layered. Our food was delicious. Service was great. It’s always a fun place to go.

The food was amazing. Such a cute brunch place. It’s is a little loud, but my group is loud so we felt comfortable having a good time. We didn’t realize it closed at 2pm on Sunday, our reservation was at 1:30, but they could not seat us till 1:45 and then they stopped serving mimosas at 2. Other than wishing they were opened later, it was a great place to eat.

Had a reservation set and arrived on time. They were busy, but told us that they’ll seat us soon. Me and my party were just standing in an open floor area close to others who were already seated because there wasn’t a waiting area. After maybe 10 minutes, one host told me that as soon as they cleared the next table we would be seated. However, that wasn’t true. Instead he seated a larger group of people and never returned to tell us why. My friend went to the bar area to sit and wait, and while she was there she addressed this matter with another gentleman, who may have been the manager or owner. He wouldn’t give her eye contact and only replied in a short tone “those people have been waiting for 45 minutes.” Believe me I completely understand that especially since they didn’t have reservations, but they chose to stand there and wait versus coming back closer to the estimated time they were given and what’s the point of having a reservation if you’re not going to accommodate you? After waiting about 10 more minutes, we were finally seated. Our server was super sweet and very apologetic. She made a few good recommendations. The food was nothing spectacular, it was just okay.

We all loved their food and the service was fabulous! I had the omelet and it was delicious! They even had some gluten free and dairy free options for my friend and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the options. And I love that they take reservations!

Had a 12:00 reservation for three. They rushed us the whole time, taking plates before we had cleared only to be told by the waitress then the manager that there was a party there with a 1:30 reservation and they would need us to leave. This was Saturday brunch. Who has a time limit at brunch? They do! If you want some place to enjoy an afternoon brunch with friends then skip the place and go to Ellen's.

Nice decor, and a distinctive menu, while still paying homage to traditional dishes. They do a good job of mixing breakfast and lunch, without the purely breakfast feel like IHop and the breakfast places. Waitstaff has always been friendly and just attentive enough.

We LOVE Layered for weekend brunch! Chicken and waffles are the best! Everyone is super friendly and service was awesome. So happy we can make a reservation on OpenTable...it gets crowded on the weekends.

Staff is very attentive and very polite. The meal was exceptional. Delicious and good value. It honestly stands out among almost all other restaurants we have visited. My wife and I agree that Layard is one of our top 3 restaurants in downtown McKinney.

I wish I grabbed my servers name I know she told us but it slipped our minds. She was absolutely a blessing and so kind and made sure we had our meal served correctly and even you made sure we didn’t feel rushed as I’m sure we got there close to their brunch ending. We loved it. Will be back. 10/10.

Quinoa salad had way too much of the stalk part of the lettuce so that was disappointing. I should have added a protein for more flavor. Hummus was good but nothing spectacular. We both found the new robot delivering food and running back and forth past us distracting. I have eaten here before and always loved it so I will be back but won’t sit in a high traffic area and won’t get the quinoa salad again.
