    Lugar bonito. Los entrantes y postres un poco pequeños pero sabrosos. Las paellas impresionantes. De precio, ni barato ni extremadamente caro. Lo único que echamos en falta fue una cortesía de la casa al final tipo chupito. En general nos gustó bastante la comida y seguramente volveremos.

    Típico restaurante para turistas,comida mediocre y fría,servicio muy lento. Te cobran hasta el pan,no quiero decir que no te lo cobren pero que por lo menos te pregunten si lo quieres,no que te lo dejen en la mesa sin más. Es una lastima que locales con la solera de los caracoles estén en manos de gente que no le pone cariño a lo que hace.

    The flavours were lacking in both the fish soup and paella mixta. It was either primarily salty or fishy. No other flavours came out of the food

    I was expecting a higher end experience so I’ll be kind The place was very casual— paper napkins , scruffy tables. I wanted pasta … it was ok, nothing special, bland. I was hungry. Don’t worked. My husband ordered seafood paella which he said was good but not spectacular. We had a bottle wine which was ok. Price was 68 euros for all so …. Overall. Average for us who are fairly used to fine dining but ok if you just want to grab a bite.

    We visited this restaurant over 10 years ago and were worried about visiting again after so many years but it proved to be everything that we remembered. Food is fabulous, service extraordinary and a try must visit when you are in Barcelona.

    We booked a reservation via open table. We had the worst table in the restaurant next to the waiter’s station. After waiting 30 minutes to have anyone speak to us, and after having been told we had to wait our turn, the bottle of wine we ordered sat at the waiter’s station. Next, a wine bucket was placed on the table. Eventually, the wine was placed in the bucket, unopened. . After 30 minutes of staring at the unopened bottle, we left! Horrible service! And I swear that when I book with Open Table, I am always seated at the worst table in the restaurant.

    A very nice dining experience in a totally unique setting. Busy but friendly staff serving a nice varied local menu. Yes we will be back next time we visit the city.

    Strange path to the dining area, but awesome place inside. Waiter dropped a bottle of red wine, shattered and splashed 2 tables and barely made an effort to apologize. Odd. I would go back, no wine next time.

    The ambience contributed much to the enjoyment of this restaurant. Every room, including the toilets, was a piece of history. The food was representative of the Catalan region. We liked the roasted suckling pig. Service was slow but tolerable. I recommend this restaurant for a “local experience”

    Everyone was very nice and the wine they suggested was great and a good value as well. Lobster Paella was not as good as we hoped. We've had better lobster. Nice to see this place for history but don't get your hopes too high on the paella. Maybe other dishes will meet higher expectations.

    2 hours later and we still had no food. Our reservation was for 7:30 guaranteed with a credit card, we got there and there was no reservation! It was 11:30 when we finally finished eating.

    Well worth a visit. Service and the food were excellent. The ambiance is brilliant. However, it’s easy to walk past the entrance, it looks small when you first walk in but expands out into a wonderful maze of rooms.

    2nd visit in our 2 weeks in Barcelona. Recommended by friends for the paella. The first visit was extremely disappointing. The snails were very difficult to extract using toothpicks. The lobster paella was filled with shells and little else. We were determined to return since our friends highly recommended the restaurant. Next visit was wonderful. Husband had rotisserie chicken and I had the suckling pig. Outstanding!!!

    What a special evening. First you walk through the kitchen to your table. Request to sit in that area if you are a foodie or upstairs -caution hard narrow stairs- and overlook the kitchen. Definitely make reservation this fills up. Everything was delicious. Staff friendly food wonderful and I loved the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and waiters. Highly recommended for a great fun experience while in Barcelona

    Great location with a super atmosphere. We got off to a slow start and waited at our table for 10 minutes before being able to order a drink which we badly needed as we had rushed from the airport after a very late flight arrival. Once we ordered everything was slick. The food superb. The oysters were plump and tasty, the croquettes really excellent.

    This is the oldest restaurant in Madrid. I strongly encourage you to share. The portions are big. One order of snails has close to 40 snails. They have a unique preparation traditional for that area. The sauce was tasty but heavy. The paella was good but also used a different type of sauce. I’ve had paella in many different places. It was good but not great. The inside of the restaurant dates back to 1835 and it is a unique experience. You walk through the kitchen to get to your table. It is very clean and the waiters are efficient.

    Absolute disaster sat for 20 min till we were waited on for drinks. Order gets taken then told 15 minutes later the don’t have drinks. Ordered dinner 1.5 later tell us they are out of the chicken dish we ordered oh by the way they tell us while plating out paella. This restaurant isn’t worth the time of day. Sad we were in town for a day

    Terrible wait service, average food. After being seated for several minutes, our waiter came to the table with the pen and paper and looked at us to order; not a word of welcome, an offer to help with any questions. My husband ordered a drink from the first page of the drinks menu and the waiter said “no. No cocktails.” The implication was that we were too late to order them, tho it was 9pm on a Friday. They wanted to close the kitchen that early? I spoke to him in (admittedly broken) Spanish but he acted like he couldn’t understand a word and stood there basically tapping his foot with annoyance while we ordered. If you’re going to work in a restaurant in the largest tourist spot in the city, you have to expect to serve tourists. Bland food. The bouillabaisse had no flavor and was a congealed lump within minutes of being served. No idea how this has stayed on the menu for 150 years. Lovely old space but it’s just not worth it.
