Maddox Tavern is a restored vintage classic, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Our menus revere tradition, while capturing the eclectic joy of modern British cuisine.

Offering a convivial space to meet, revel and enjoy the best of the seasons, our restaurant was tailor-made for Mayfair.

Maddox Tavern can host events ranging from intimate meetings to grander celebrations. Larger events can be hosted throughout The Tavern and The Dining Rooms, with a maximum capacity of 120 seated or 200 standing. Small groups can hire one of our four discrete dining spaces, once the original fitting rooms of William Cooling’s tailor shop.

Really enjoyed our meal. It was beautifully presented and very tasty. - It was such a beautiful building. Our waitress was Roberta. She made our visit extra special. She was attentive, and knowledgeable about the history of the building. As it was a quiet time in the afternoon she treated us to a mini tour of the restaurant. She explained that the premises was once tailors, and Sir Winston Churchill was a regular client.

Luisa the Maitre'd was very welcoming, and found us a quieter table as we were both sightly hard of hearing. We had the Burrata and smoked salmon as starters. Both were good. We shared the Hereford rib eye, and found the cut a tad slightly tendinous.

Quite formal for a tavern/pub very smart interior old school business gents club type decor dark wood nicely set tables,nice linen slightly formal atmosphere. very popular for business lunches excellent service food ok not wow but good value for money, had a voucher which was great super cocktails ,nice ambience for a lunch time.Extensive wine list . Can't really fault it if you like that kind of thing very civilised!

Nice vibes, however staff that had just finished working were being loud and inconsiderate. Wine and cocktails were nice, however the cheese board was substandard.

We went here for our anniversary yesterday. We tried the three-course menu, the presentation of the food was very disappointing. Vegetarian options were limited and the sauce used on my partner's main and mine was the same. the restaurant atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, but other than that, I wouldn't recommend it.

Absolutely terrible experience. We had a pre-set NYE menu, the restaurant was not crowded, and it took over an hour to get our Starters. It took about 45 minutes between each course. The total meal took over 3 hours. Food was fine, but the experience was completely ruined by how absurd the time was to get our food. We saw multiple tables arrive and depart, with the same menu and party size, while we sat and waited.

The service was poor. We waited over an hour before any food arrived. Several things were off the menu but the waiter did not tell us when we were given the menu. There were no dauphinoise potatoes only chips which seem d poor given that it was quite early in the evening. The food was very mediocre and overpriced for what it was.. My venison was overcooked and my wife's chicken dish looked very unappetizing. I would not go there again.

The food was excellent, but service was slow. There was us and one other table in there at the time, and it still took 45 minutes to get the starters. we ordered main courses that we were advised would take a bit longer to cook, which was fine, but that was served and almost all eaten before the 5th person received their food

Lovely restaurant, very good food but little limited mains choices. Although wait staff are professional and very friendly there was a long delays in getting service. More time spent chatting & resetting tables when our plates weren't cleared & drinks empty. Also I think that when initially seating guests, please provide the menus - saves staff a trip back & us waiting full 5minutes with nothing to do.

The menu and environment look very appealing but the reality is simply that Maddox Tavern is a well located, good looking restaurant, at first glance. In the end, the cuisine, vibe and service are just middle-of-the-road. Probably fun for after work drinks.

This beautiful restaurant really needs to invest in some staff training and improve their service levels. Despite many floor & bar staff and multiple managers, we were not greeted and it took 3 different people to find the i-pad holding the reservations & show us to a table. Then getting a menu and drinks order took more requests, only to be told we had missed the deadline for ordering the 'early menu'. After extensive discussions, the waiter agreed after checking with the kitchen. Was this because they perhaps wanted to sell the more expensive a la carte ... we just preferred the dishes on the fixe prix. The food was very average, it took multiple requests to get butter & basic condiments for our table of 6, and the only cocktail on the table came with the wrong (sorry, no) garnish. For a classy "tavern" I would have at least expected good quality bread and superior service to match the lovely interior decor. Yes, this was a busy Friday prior to Christmas, but the restaurant was not full when we arrived and now I know why it was the only place I could get a last minute reservation!

It was really busy with Christmas parties but overall food and service were good until we waited ages for desserts

Terrible service. No host to greet us for ages. Food was served warm and not hot, and now not feeling great today because of it! Forgot our drinks several times. Aware it was a special occasion - but made no difference whatsoever towards this.

The Maddox Tavern, was definitely a great place to meet friends and associates, it had the friendliest staff and we had a fabulous time. The food was delightful and atmosphere moderately loud with a live Jazz band on the Mezzanine above us. My only small critique was there was not a lot of wine to choose from on the menu.

This was our 2nd visit to Maddox Tavern, Restaurant was much busier this time with a large & noisy drinks reception taking place at the rear of the restaurant. The service was clunky at best, our waiter forgot part of our drinks order & when the food and when the main course finally arrived it was luke warm. I ordered the 'Young Chicken' described as a grilled chicken dish, the sauce has started to congeal & was the most meagre portion of chicken ever seen. one chicken wing & the top end of chicken breast. We complained about the meal, it looked like it had sat on the pass for a while & had been forgotten about we asked for the meal to be removed from our bill which the manager arranged. In all a very disappointing experience & we are unlikely to return.

Beautiful venue. However food was hideously over priced for something I could have had from tesco metro. Sorry to be harsh but the portions were ridiculously small - not even haute cuisine standard - and while Maurer d was v nice staff not well trained. Extremely over priced. Will not go back.

The food is very good. The prices are totally reasonable. The service was great and the staff are nice and super helpful. It’s also far enough of Regent or Oxford that it’s not packed with the Lads out for a jolly.

Despite the best efforts of the waiting staff, our lunch at the Maddox Tavern was a bit of a disaster! First of all, we had to wait an hour and a quarter for our starters. When they finally arrived, the venison ragu with gnocchi turned out to be with macaroni instead; the poached egg with the endive salad was stone cold (and the second one they brought was warm but over-cooked and hard!). The mackerel tartare was good though. We didn’t have to wait too long for our main courses. The chicken was passable. The beef, which had sounded as if it was served with potatoes and root vegetables, turned out to be more like a smallish cottage pie with no veg in sight. Very disappointing. The best thing turned out to be the cold rice pudding for dessert. The waiting staff were very apologetic and did give us some free wine, but this didn’t make up for the poor quality of the meal. Apparently it was the first day of a new set menu, but there were so many errors, it felt as if the basics in the kitchen need seriously looking at.

Quite a sad experience. This should be a lovely busy venue, formerly a branch of Browns. On my visit it was largely empty and sad looking. The food is quite good, but the service extremely slow. How they would cope if there were more diners, I cannot imagine.

Super meal in the stunning dining room - shocked at the cost of a G&T £20 for the gin with extra charge of £2.50 for the tonic! Correct price should be quoted in the menu.

Really good experience. My client and I will be back again. The food was excellent, the waiters and staff were super friendly. We both really enjoyed the mean, and for Mayfair, this was excellent value.

What an amazing building, beautifully refurbished but retaining many of the original features. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. Good menu choices, we had the sausages and fish pie which were both beautifully cooked and delicious. Would definitely return.
