Mangiamo 444-BYOB is a new food concept developed by Joe The Boss well known in the South Philly and Center City areas where his culinary talents have used only the finest ingredients including extra virgin olive oil, fresh Parmigiano, Reggiano cheese grated before your eyes and premiere brand Bell & Evans chicken. We had a reservation for a table of 6 for 8:30 pm (the restaurant closes at 9). When we arrived, the waitress rushed us to order, rushed to take our food away, then automatically added a 25% GRATUITY TO OUR BILL. She was extremely rude and I have never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant. Food was ok though, so I guess they have that going for them. I will not be returning to this establishment

Very quiet restaurant, actually it was empty on a Saturday night. I forgot it was a BYO restaurant, but they were nice enough to provide a complimentary drink. Great, friendly service and very nice, clean environment. It has the look I like for an Italian restaurant: low lighting, Italian scenery, etc. The food was just OK, which was disappointing because I love Italian food and the place definitely has an authentic Italian feel. But the food was nothing special. Probably the biggest drawback overall was the parking situation. I didn't realize when I made the reservation that the restaurant is attached to a residential building, and the parking lot is for residents only. There are no pay lots nearby so we had to park on Spring Garden and walk a few blocks. I think there might be street parking normally but there is currently construction so that was not an option. Not that big a deal but the weather was cold and rainy. Overall it was fine but there are definitely better options for Italian.

The food was mediocre, the waitress was not good and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. If I had used the restroom before ordering my food, I would have left. I have never been to a restaurant or bar that had such dirty bathrooms. I would not recommend this place to anyone or ever go back.

Great food! Would eat there again! Portions were perfect size and felt like I was in someone's home eating their best dish for dinner. yummy!

Eight of us went to the restaurant prior to going to the theater. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We started with the Sausage and Cauliflower as well as the grilled vegetable appetizers. In addition the chef sent us a plate of fried eggplant on the house. All were fresh and prepared perfectly. For entrees half of us chose the veal parmesan with homemade gnocci. The homemade mozzarella and red gravy were very good, the veal tender and lightly breaded. The gnocci light and fluffy. The other half chose the Boss Pasta. Sauteed shrimp and crab in white sauce over linguini. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Plenty of shrimp and crab. We could not decide on a dessert so the waitress suggested a sampler plate of their homemade desserts. All were great.. Also this is a BYOB. The only negative to this restaurant is that it sits back off the street and is a bit difficult to see. However there is plenty of parking. All agreed we will return.

We had a large party of 17 here for a surprise engagement celebration. The food was pretty good, decently priced and our waitress was helpful and great for such a large party. It’s a small little restaurant and BYOB. Can’t complain!

We had a family-meet-up so a group of 7, one an infant. Service was friendly and efficient. Good basic Italian and pasta fare. Some interesting appetizers and a nice complimentary and Paleo friendly Anti Pasti was brought to the table of cheeses and salami, as well as bread with oil and butter for the non Paleo members of the group! We would go again. BYOB is also always nice, you get to pick what you like and not pay for the establishments liquor liability insurance nor inventory carrying costs. A great Philly tradition the BYOB!
