Although I had booked a reservation the restaurant was shutting when we arrived. The man said they were closing so we had had a wasted journey and needed to find another restaurant suitable for me and my daughter. Very disappointing.

A reservation wasn’t necessary since it was half empty when we arrived. My tea was one bag in a pot. My poached eggs were hard and the pickles on the side was odd. The restroom had no toilet paper. Wouldn’t recommend with so many better options in town.

Excellent breakfast! The wait staff and service was very responsive. The food was very good and offered a variety of choices. Just seconds to walk to the bistro from High street. Highly recommend.

Mary’s is a Lovely cafe. We went for breakfast and had a very nice server. Scotland is not tip driven, so the service you receive is genuine good or bad. We had fantastic service and the breakfast was really good. We didn’t have dinner plans, so back we went. Same server was still there, but we had a different one. Food was on point. We will definitely go back.

Mary’s Café has both great food and also great people. We were there for breakfast and it was bustling, fun, friendly, the service was still speedy and the food was excellent. Come for the traditional Scottish breakfast - stay for the service, cute and casual bistro ambiance, as well as the great location. Many thanks to the team - they made everyone feel welcome.

I love this place. Friendly atmosphere and great variety on the menu. A lovely escape from the chaos of the Royal Mile!

Happy, friendly staff, food was tasty, my husband had the all breakfast and I had the steak pie. We ate every bit. Relaxed atmosphere, small cafe but lovely seating outside the the warmer weather.
