Matteo's Ristorante Italiano is the product of a long-standing friendship between Ferdinandi and Chef Angelo Auriana. Ferdinandi and Auriana share the vision of imparting their Italian roots and memories through food and hospitality. The restaurant's soul is purely Italian! The original trattoria, The Factory Kitchen serving traditional Italian recipes, opened its doors October 2013, in The Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles.

In the kitchen, Chef Auriana prepares dishes using fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The approachable menu at Matteo's highlights the simplicity of traditional local recipes. These recipes have been passed down from generation to generation within Italian families.

Beverage Director and Sommelier Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi has created a wine list which reflects the essence of their distinctive regions.

Everything that Robert suggested for us was right on target. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and each item on the menu. We started with an Oregon Pino noir that was light and fruity. It was excellent with each course of We shared a salad that was served with a variety of breads. Then we shared the basil pasta that was so light and silky. We’ve never tasted anything like it before. The next course was lamb chops that Robert suggested be served medium rare. The lamb was full of flavor and very tender. We finished dinner with a delicious chocolate mousse. Robert took great care of us at each step and we enjoyed the restaurant and meal.

Had reservations. Waited about 5 min to be seated. Smaller sized restaurant, kind of feels like you’re dining with your neighbors. Pretty loud. Service a bit slow at first, but picked up. Food was outstanding. Crudo for appetizer, I had beef short rib stuffed pasta, my husband had salmon/shrimp stuffed ravioli. Affogato for dessert. Excellent meal and I’d love to return.

We are local and met a friend for dinner the night before the conference. What a pleasant surprise. This place is a hidden gem. I’m sure everything is wonderful, however, the homemade pasta is what should be your go to. After all, you don’t go to a diner to eat pasta, right?

Our server was amazing. Unfortunately, I can’t recall his name, but he made it a point to see that we were satisfied with our meal. One of our party didn’t love his drink; it was decent. Our server said he wanted us to be completely happy, so he swapped it out for something else without hesitation. Sometimes, when a drink isn’t loved, you get a hint of annoyance from the server - this wasn’t our case.

Held a business lunch there for 11 people during CES. They won't seat you until your entire party is present, which is a bit awkward. Food is very good. Their kale salad got me to like kale! Service was very good, espeically considering how large a party we had.

Out of all the restaurants I had booked for our Vegas trip I was very excited to try MATTEO's. Sadly, it ended up not being that great. We started off being seated at a weird little 2-person table so we felt very squished the entire meal. The salad we ordered was the Misticanza... it had lots of bitter lettuce, very little dressing and I never found any apples in it. My husband ordered some spaghettini dish that was so spicy he almost choked twice. It had red thai chili peppers sliced throughout.I could never share with him because it was too crazy spicy for me. The description never mentioned this. We should have sent it back, but what a waist of time. I ordered the signature dish Mandilli. It was very delicious, but just too much of it. It becomes over-whelming after a while. It needs a second accompaniment and half that pasta. Our dessert was the holiday bread pudding. I think it was made with Panetone bread. Just alot going on with that dessert. Hard to focus on it being a bread pudding. Our service was fair. We had alot of energetic waiters throughout our stay and she was soooo low key. Never recommended anything, etc. Lastly, I will mention that their pasta maker is in full view and was right where I could watch them. The machine brook down half-way through dinner. I got to watch them working on the machine the rest of my meal. I think they should have just waited until the end of the evening to fix it.

A delicious, and satisfying Italian meal. The wine selection was extensive, albeit with few options in an under $100 a bottle price point. I had 2 starters for a lighter meal. The kale salad was absolutely seasoned perfectly and felt like a delicious bottomless bowl. The prosciutto di Parma with stracciatella was a perfect balance of salty and sweet creamy cheese. The fried bread at the bottom was fried a tad cold and quite oil logged and chewy. Others in our party had a different pasta dish each which definitely satisfied! Overall, it's a bit of a pricey meal but worth the experience for inspired Italian fare that differs from the selection at other Italian restaurants on the strip.

This use to be our favorite night out place but we are going to look for somewhere else. Matteo’s use to be unique and we could count on their waiters (best around), sommelier with knowledge, magnificent food and an adult clientele. This time we got a Mimi’s waitress, screaming kids, a sommelier that said 3 words, and great food. If you don’t care about anything else but the food, this is the place. Fresh ingredients, over & above flavor. If you want a nice night out and you care about the whole experience…. Then find some place else. Such a bummer …,

Very disappointing encounter this time. Our first time was wonderful and we expected the same experience in bringing our family with us. Total opposite. The restaurant was severely overcrowded to the point that as I sat with my back to the aisle I was less than 1 foot from the person behind me. I was run into by every other person throughout my meal. The volume of noise was more like a night club with live heavy metal music than a relaxing fine dining experience. Then the food, of the 6 of us two of us received a palatable meal (maybe even tasty). The othe 4 could not finish their meal because of the taste. The mussels ordered for an appetizer were tasteless, the worst I have ever had. The broth should have a seasoning. Instead it was simply warm water. I tried but we left more than half of the mussels an d the calamari (equally tasteless). I will not be going back to Matteos any time soon! Seriously bad experience that cost over $800!

My experience was poor, I had a party of 8 for a business dinner, you seated us 25 mins after our reservation, you didn't offer non-Acholic beer and the food was okay, but the prices were high for the quality of food, plus it was so loud that we could not carry-on normal conversations. Overall, I was not pleased.

The servers were prompt and very attentive. The grilled calamari was excellent…. the best I ever had. We had the lamb and Mediterranean sea bass and both were delicious and beautifully prepared. I am recommending this restaurant.
