McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Crystal City
Went there for complimentary Veteran's Day Meal. Had the McCormick & Schmick's Cheese Burger. Tasted like...FREEDOM! Fresh beef and rich melted cheddar on an excellent bun!
We made a reservation and didn’t get seated until 15 minutes late. We had a question and the waiter disappeared for 15 min to go get the manager before we even ordered. The manager failed to address any of our issues or take any level of responsibility for the poor service. Two meals came out wrong and then one that got corrected got messed up again. Nobody seems to care about how terrible the service was including the manager.
We went to dinner to take advantage of M&S's wonderful veteran's day benefit. The place was packed and it took 20-plus minutes to be seated. But the wait staff handled the crush well and the food, as always, was very good. However, I miss the M&S at Tysons/McLean, which was our favorite.
Great food and friendly service. The wait was not too long with the reservation I made online.
The service was extremely slow on the night we went and four meals out of six were not cooked according correctly or were missing items. Unfortunately it took over 56 mins for our order to come to our table. We spoke with the manager and he said the chef initially overcooked two meals and had to redo those meals. In re-firing two meals, the other four came out incorrect. Oh well. While the young lady that waited on us tried to do her best, I believe she was overwhelmed by the amount of tables she was supporting.
Veterans Day meal was fabulous
Our visit to this location was made outstanding due to our server, Chanel. She was amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and had a wonderful can do attitude. She anticipated our every need. My husband was very much impressed how she honored and respected him as a veteran. We went on Veteran’s Day.
Good service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food!
Place was nice but white tablecloth was dirty, fork wrapped in napkin wasn’t washed and metal basket the server brought the bread in was plastered with jelly. Would go back for drinks but probably won’t order food due to feeling of uncleanliness.
Excellent Shrimp Scampi presentation and taste. The music was a bit loud for us.
Our server Cleveland was great and made our dining experience excellent.
M&S had a wonderful offering for Veterans on Veterans Day, offering a free meal to any Veteran. We went for lunch. One meal offered was the blackened chicken pasta which was "loved". The cedar plank salmon was not up to M&S standards. Lobster bisque was a big hit. I enjoy the mixed green salad and shrimp kisses. The restaurant was busy and the service was slower than expected but it did give us time to converse with family. Free parking across the street on evenings and weekends.
Had a very nice lunch w/ my wife. A bit too noisy for this hearing impaired person. Will come back again!
Great food and service...very much appreciated the “Happy Birthday” on the menu and dessert for my friend’s birthday!
We were very disappointed with our experience. My husband and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and decided to go to McCormick & Schmick's for a "special evening" out. Unfortunately, it was nothing special. Our waitress was very friendly but new, so she kept forgetting things and service was slow, even though the dining room was not crowded. She was very sweet and even provided excellent suggestions for our wine choice and dessert. We sat next to a large, loud party of eight, which made it difficult for us to hear one another. A toddler cried at another table nearby adding to the noise. We were hoping to have a nice, quiet romantic dinner out which is why we selected a restaurant with $$. It was very unusual not to have a dessert on the house for a special occasion which only added to our disappointment. I wish I could say it was worth the price but it wasn't.
Met my sister from out of town. Great atmosphere, great food and excellent service! Michael, our server was very friendly, (said he was new) and he did an outstanding job serving us!!!!
Mixed review: arrival/checkin were strange. We were a bit early for reservation (5:50 for 6:15 pm). While entry wasn't busy, hostess seemed flummoxed by computer she needed to use to admit us. Plus she'd been occupied for a while with her back towards us. When we finally attracted her attention and were finally seated, we had a long wait before being noticed and had to ask if anyone served our table. Then it turned out we hadn't been given separate daily specials menu so if I hadn't requested a dish I'd seen online I'd have missed out on a favorite meal.
Fortunately, things improved. Server was great and very attentive -- and sensitive to our having nearby theater tickets. Drinks and food were excellent. So it was a mostly rewarding meal, but M&S process needs work.
It was expensive and just average. Nothing special.
The hostess seated us promptly at a booth for our reservation for 2 but she had read the screen wrong and brought 3 menus. She wanted to know when our 3rd person was coming and at what seat she should put their menu. When we told her it was only a reservation for 2. She did a little "harumphf" like she did not believe our reservation was originally only for 2 and she walked away.
My steak was rare when I had ordered it medium rare. When I requested it a bit more cooked, it came back on a plate that looked like the entire plate had simply been put under a broiler - mashed potatoes were now dry and only the edges of the steak were now medium rare.
The sauteed mushrooms were not a do-over. They were over seasoned (almost "salty" in taste), with dry herbs that polked at the insides of ones' mouth and did not go with the texture of the mushrooms. Additionally, the mushroom dish contained a large piece of garlic that was half raw when I bit into it - not a pleasant taste, I must say. I never would have believed that someone could ruin sauteed mushrooms, but they did.
The waiter was wonderful when it came to us splitting dessert, as he pre-split it for us and brought it on 2 separate plates - very thoughtful!
Both my wife & I had so-so meals, about what I expected. I ordered a Manhattan straight up prior to dinner, it came on the rocks. Again, about what I expect from M&S.
The restaurant needs a deep clean. The lighting around the booth had a few centimeters of dust. The server did not know the wine list. The first two wine selections we made were not available. The steak was undercooked on the inside, and some the asparagus spears were old. The truffle frites were good!
I was concerned by recent reviews of significantly sub-standard service here, but it was across the street from the hotel, and M&S have been good elsewhere, so forewarned we took a chance. It paid off. There was a brief wait from seating until the server first arrived, but after that the server was attentive and engaging, the food arrived as requested and in prompt order, and the recommended dessert was excellent. Commendable service, and my daughter said the steak was the best she's had. This was a uniformly positive experience.
Went to McCormick the server couldn't have cared less about us and was not good when he did notice us; the first course (soup) arrived lukewarm; the main course was prepared well but had obviously been under a heat lamp for a while. Finally, I had to literally flag down a waiter with my napkin to get a check.
Our first and last visit to McCormick & Schmicks. Lobster Bisque and Calamari were very good, I will say that. The steak, green beans and mashed potatoes were just ok. My daughter said the mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box. We ordered a Carmel Apple Walnut dessert to take home but once we got home and opened it there were no walnuts and no Carmel. My fault for not checking it I guess. $10 for a piece of mediocre apple pie and a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. Not worth it and disappointing.
For what you are getting, this restaurant is extremely overpriced. The hostess and server were very nice which is why I gave my review more stars. Based on food alone I would not give it more than 1-2.
Close to Marriott where we stayed. Easy walk, great food and service. Would go again!!!
Our server was inattentive at best from the start. I think that also affected our food quality, as it felt like everything sat in a window for a while before we got to eat it. Water was evidently at a premium as you couldn’t buy a refill! I am used to seeing expediters, managers or even hostesses helping make sure tables were taken care of and that was definitely not the case here as well.
I am not eating at this location again for sure
Service was extremely slow... had a reservation and was seated 20min after reserved time. Maybe understaffed but was obvious that they were struggling. Food good as always, thank you!
Great place to dine and enjoy with that special person
I've been to other McCormick restaurants and they had a higher standard. Some things that happened were understandable, like coming back because they ran out of a certain fish, but the food came out subpar and we ordered asparagus that never came out of the kitchen.
Great place to eat, service this time was very very very slow. I had had better experience with a different waiter before.
We were a party of 8 people and one person meal a filet was not cooked correctly & he ended up getting his dinner while the rest of us were eating dessert! In addition 2 soups were brought with peoples dinner and a side dish arrived after dinner. Very disappointing for the price.
We arrived on time and were told that reservation only got us on waiting list and that there would be a hour wait. Never heard of such a polity. We've eaten their before and weren't impressed but one person wanted to try this place. Never again.
My only criticism is that the bench seating in the booths is not comfortable -- needs more padding.
Tuna was excellent
Waiter was not responsive to us. Manager came over to intervene based on waiter’s confusion on what we communicated to him. It was embarrassing. We felt treated as if we were difficult customers. Finally the manager understood what we were asking about and it worked out but we felt humiliated.
Middling review and low ambiance score reflects the fact that the noise level was not "energetic" , it was too loud to carry on a conversation at our table.
The crab cake was amazing. The steak I ordered was supposed to be well done but came out medium rare and pink. I asked them to re-cook it in which they proudly did, but it took 30 extra minutes. My husband had finished his food meanwhile I was still waiting. When the waiter brought over my next plate, it was also the wrong steak and was rare. Then 5 min later I received the correct steak that was made the way I wanted it. Service was ok but for the bill to be $180, it should’ve been made right the first time.
I loved it!!!!!
My waiter Carlos did a great job however the other restaurant hostesses were not that welcoming or friendly. Food portions were rather small but tasty.
Service extremely slow-had to send 1st plate back topping burned. 2nd plate undercooked. Other diner had plate served barely warm. Have been there in the past when everything was good. Somebody was having a very bad day and it showed. On a Sat nite, you would think they would be on their toes. Rest. Was not that crowded
