Have been here for both dinner & brunch. The food is very tasty & well portioned. Great variety. Homemade pasta. Creative drink menu. Reasonable prices.
AMAZING VEGETARIAN FOOD! Very friendly staff and anything with mushrooms was fantastic. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Virginia/D.C. area
Wife and I have been to Mia’s a few times and have consistently had good service and meals. The location and ambiance are so great. So fun to sit near the big open windows on a beautiful night at the bottom of King Street and watch the night come alive. Good highlights for us are the zucchini fries, egg yolk raviolo, rigatoni calabrese, buchatini, cannolis, and budini. Can’t wait to come back!
We loved it. The only thing missing was some really good garlic bread or focaccia bread. Every Italian restaurant needs that!
Food was great. Excellent service
Delicious food and beautiful restaurant. Cannoli and tiramisu heaven!
Good food. Loved the brunch choices. Great service!
We were excited to try this new Italian restaurant in old town Alexandria. Our first impression was very good. The host staff was very welcoming and accommodating and we felt very good about it. Our waitress was very kind and professional. Good start of our experience. But when it comes to food they have a lot to work on. We tried a few different appetizers and two pizzas and unfortunately nothing was to our taste.
Everything was great, food was delicious and drinks as well. Love the location and interior
This restaurant is cute but it is really loud. They seated us near an open door at first with huge vents blowing (to keep bugs out?). Even when we were seated in another table it was loud. The service was pretty slow and our waiter stood so far away we couldn't hear him over the noise. I had the pork ragu pasta, it was tasty but over priced at $21 for a lunch plate. My husband had a sandwich which was ok and his house made potato chips were stale and salty. Not sure we would go here again. It was pretty expensive for a mediocre meal where we couldn't even hear each other.
Bad service. No quality name liquors. Too noisy. Not a place for a special event like our 58th
anniversary. Very disappointing experience.
This place never disappoints. Old Town needs to name a holiday for Scott Shaw and the impact he has had on our dining scene. I met clients for Sunday Bunch and it was fabulous. Tons of food. Very interesting variety. We ate like there was no tomorrow and surprised how inexpensive it was.
The foods was great but the service was unacceptable. Had to ask four times for small plates for the appetizers; wrong food was brought to our table three times; never asked if we wanted additional cocktails; noise level was high.
Brunch was fantastic and delicious! Can’t wait to go back.
We were there for their Sunday brunch, which is very innovative and delicious. The only frustrating part was that we had to ask multiple times for them to turn down the air-conditioning, which was frankly blowing so hard directly on us that we were all uncomfortably cold. They finally got that right, but it took way too long.
I loved Mia's kitchen! I am a pasta lover but don't eat it all that often. Mia's kitchen delivered on what I was hoping for. I didn't realize that it was half price wine night (Wednesday), which was an added bonus! The kids' food was great as well - the portions were really perfect for kids (not enormous, but definitely enough) - and delicious. The noise level was nice and vibrant but never too loud. I felt like my kids' noise level was drowned out but I didn't have any trouble hearing the people at my table. When I was eating my dinner all I could think about was when I can go back and try the rest of the pastas! Great location, too.
The salads were very good. All enjoyed them. The minestrone soup, too, was very good.
Amazing food and amazing service! Light, fresh and delicious Italian fare in Old Town - finally! This is how Italians eat, and we're already planning our next visit. The pizza, pasta pomodoro, and meat/cheese were all superb. Large portions - we took the pasta home - and all VERY reasonably priced. A prime piece of Alexandria retail real estate finally has a worthy occupant!
Anyone that said this place has excellent food does not know good food. Very Disappointing. Ordered three starters and one entree for me and my husband. Said we would share one of the three starters. The first thing to come out was his entree and none of the starters came yet. Finally once he was done his entree the starters came. Obviously this makes no sense for the "starters" to come last. Food was just average to below average. I ordered the caprese salad and there were tiny penny sized (no exaggeration) pieces of tomato on the mozzarella. Tomato so tiny it didn't need to be cut. The whole thing was drenched in a pool of olive oil. It was disgusting. All you could taste was olive oil. Not good. My husband doesn't like anything spicy. We specifically asked waitress about his entree and if it was going to be spicy or peppery. She said no but when it came out it definitely had a kick. Three different waiters came to our table to attempt to deliver food to us that was not ours. This place is very unorganized and staff is not trained. Not going back.
Great seat inside but with doors open, felt like outside. Place seemed very busy and a little overwhelmed so things were a little slow—-but great experience overall
I took my parents here. My food was fine, but my mom's calamari was raw on one part of the plate and over cooked on the other part. Overall the food was fine. Nothing amazing.
Though our server was not as attentive as we expect there were others, including managers who were always coming by an responsive.
They need to go back to basics on service here. It was a Friday and it was Restaurant week, but the things that went wrong were fundamentals. No one cleared any of out plates before other items came out. Servers and Front of the house managers looked at our table and just walked by as we sat there with empty plates. Then food runners would come with our next course and we would have to squeeze everything on our tiny table and inevitably have to ask the food runner to clear the table or get us the proper utensil for the meal. I've been to 3 different restaurants in the the 100 King St space and I'm not sure how long this one will last unless they can get back to some basic expectations for service.
Service was awful. Made a reservation multiple days in advance for 6:15pm. Due to parking we checked in at 6:17pm where we were rudely told "I just canceled your table and gave it away." I understand we were late but by two minutes, really? The hostess then sat us at a table after we agreed to be gone by 7:30pm since she needed to seat that table by then. Why was our table given away if you had a table available? I also noticed the table next to us that was not seated until 7:15, two tables available but yet ours was given away two minutes after our reservation. The service from the hostess and waiter was awful. Our appetizers came out with our meal. When our checks came, we were a group of two couples, our bills were not only messed up but when our checks were returned he ran the wrong card for the bills. How does this happen when the checks come in a sealed wooden box? The main entree was great, can't say much for the appetizers since we ate our entrees while they were hot. They bit off more than they could chew during restaurant week.
Had such a nice mom's night out here. Sat outside and it was perfect. Food was amazing, service was wonderful. Really happy to see this beautiful building stay in the Italian food theme because it was some of the best I've had in awhile!
Excellent addition to Old Town dining. Go hungry as the food is delish and large portions.
This Italian gem has fabulous food. Even the prosciutto pizza was one of the best I've had.
And the Putanesca Sauce over the Branzino was outstanding. A real find in Old Town Alexandria.
Food was disappointing. But location, customer service, location and atmosphere was great
Great food and service!
Waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed. Food good and served quickly. A bit
Loud but enjoyable.
100 King may finally have a place that will last! Casual but festive and fun. Good food. Good service. Went with two couples one night and the family another - both equally enjoyable.
Will definitely visit again. Service, food and attention to detail was excellent.
Food was GREAT again! Our server, Sarah, was friendly and knowledgeable. I asked for "quiet as possible" because of a hearing problem...staff remembered that and seated us outside which was terrific.
I have been to Mia’s Kitchen 2xnow and have had the same problem. The small salads are swimming in dressing. Like they are made up beforehand because this causes a soggy salad. One of our group send theirs back. We all should have. The pasta was excellent as was our appetizer. But the salad brought the meal down.
Mia's is in a great old building in the heart of Old Town with a nice atmosphere and a good buzz, but on this our third visit it still fails to impress. The food is mediocre, particularly at its price point and while I want it to be successful, if I'm craving Italian I will now always opt for Landini's across the street where the food is consistently excellent.
Second visit. Food disappointing. Bread loaf ‘starter’ was awesome.
Branzini was not nearly as good this time.
Nice atmosphere and good location. Waiter very attentive and friendly. Food was pricey for what you get. We ordered eggplant Parmesan and pizza with side salad. Pizza came out 10 minutes after the eggplant. Would like to see place succeed where others have failed, but seems to be more of a tourist place than a local favorite.
Great new restaurant. So many have failed in the same location. Upbeat. Fabulous home-cooked family-style Italian food - the likes of which is rare in Alexandria. The Sunday brunch was over-the-top value for the money. The chicken polenta was great. The Sunday Italian gravy dish fabulous. I will go again and again. Reservations a must. I am told walk ins to the two bars is available.
Great variety to choose from on the family style brunch menu. The special brunch libations were also very good.
Restaurant could not seat us until 15 minutes after our reservation.
