A beautiful, rural, riverside pub-restaurant on the edge of the spectacular New Forest National Park, the New Queen is convenient for Bournemouth, Christchurch and the A31. With a large riverside garden and children's play area the New Queen provides the perfect backdrop for crisp autumnal days.

This was our first visit to The New Queen which is without doubt a very good pub. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff were polite, helpful and happy. In general the food was very good with a good variety of tasty, firm vegetables. We all chose the Sunday Roast menu and the Pork was "excellent" but - oh! dear the Roast Beef! The words "boot" and "leather" spring to mind! However when this was mentioned to our charming waitress the matter was quickly resolved and we very much enjoyed our complimentary puddings! Would we go again?..............most certainly!

We found this beautiful pub by searching online for somewhere near our hotel. We are so glad we picked this. It's quiant but so spacious inside. The service is friendly and so speedy, I was amazed. The food was plentiful and expertly prepared and the mini puds were such a great idea and so tasty. I have already recommended it to others and plan to return soon.

The food was good with plenty of choice and not expensive. The staff were pleasant and friendly and dogs are welcome. If I had minor criticism it would be that it was that service was a little slow but the food was worth waiting.

There was a party of 10, including 2 children booked for 2:45 on a Saturday (the only time we could all get together!) We were slightly early but this didn't matter as table was prepared with a nice message on it. We were given table service throughout - admittedly there weren't many other tables taken, but this was a nice touch. Food was obviously freshly cooked and there was a good selection. Staff popped back several times to check on us. We all enjoyed the food and the children enjoyed the large games outside - even when it started to rain. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Enjoyed a family meal for my mum's 76th birthday. Excellent service from helpful staff. Tasty food served promptly and with a friendly smile. We will be returning!

We went to the New Queen for lunch and were a disappointed initially to discover that it was part of the Hall and Woodhouse chain so we knew the menu very well and been looking for something different. However we were welcomed and asked if we would prefer to sit outside as it was a lovely day. The service was excellent. My husband had a draught beer which he enjoyed. The food was good as we have always found from this chain. You couldn't see the river Avon from the garden but that didn't matter to us as it was a very peaceful setting. Well fenced so safe for young children.

Come to the New Queen but dont have the Sunday Roast. The potatoes were dry and not cooked longenough and tasted like they had been standing around for ages. 1 carrot and cabbage that was so overcooked i couldnt eat it. Also so little gravy it was all so dry and had to wait ages for more. Best thing was the crackling and apple sauce. need to take a leaf out of Toby Carverys book! couldnt complain as wasnt paying.

Overall the food we had was quite good..just a few minor issues such as mushy peas were too dry. The big issue was that of the 4 of us only I could have my first choice for main as they had run out of 3 of our 4 choices...though it was my turn when it came to dessert as they had run out of sticky toffee pudding as well. Also ran out of the rose wine my wife was drinking after 1 glass. On a plus the real ale was very good. Overall, the evening was nowhere near as good as we'd hoped for a Saturday night out with friends. Disappointed. :-(

Food was good and delivered quickly. They ran out of all chocolate puddings and after the third disappointed choice, we were given our deserts for free! Great pub for kids and dogs. Will definitely return.
