Oxford isn't blesses with many good restaurants, especially at the more traditional end. No1, however, was a great find and shoots to the top of my Oxford restaurant list.

Tucked just off the main shopping street, this cosy brasserie will prove a relief to anyone looking to unwind. It's not too small, so as to be on top of each other, nor is it so large that it lacks intimacy or character. The staff are all very friendly and will certainly make you feel welcome.

We tucked into oysters as a starter, which I followed with the Devilled Kidneys, before gorging ourselves on the ample surf&turk (Lobster, bone marrow, steak, chips). Every part of the food was well flavoured and cooked brilliantly. The cocktails were pleasantly surprising (I tried Black Velvet).

We'd certainly return to No1, though may eat less next time. The portions are not stingy. I can't think of somewhere in Oxford that has this higher-end feel to it, whilst also delivering good food. Many seem to compromise.

This is such a wonderful restaurant. Every single thing we ate was delicious. The place was a lovely setting and the service perfect. It was such a calming oasis in the craziness of the pandemic. It is a must visit.

A perfect 1 year anniversary celebration. From the moment we entered the restaurant (Dec 21) everyone was very nice to us and created the perfect environment for our big celebration. Had delicious food :oysters, scallops, French onion soup, steak and lobster! Complementary sparkling wine as well. All staff very gracious and professional. Best restaurant in the UK.

From appetisers onwards, every dish looked and tasteful delicious. We all sampled each other's and agreed that the flavours were excellent. The mains portions were not skimpy, as in some finer restaurants, and we thought the bill reflected the quality of the food.
We did have difficulty chatting though - it was echoey and other diners conversations drowned us out.

This was on my list of places to visit for a year now and as soon as I could I jumped at the chance to experience One Ship Street. Even with Covid happening the restaurant staff looked after us, thanks. The food was amazing. Nothing beats a good night out with friends, in a great location and this was perfect.

Wonderful ambience and brilliant service in this lovely little restaurant. I had the turkey dinner, which was succulent and included lots of delicious bits. My partner was equally impressed with his pie. The set menu is incredible value too! The service was faultless. We had a wonderful date night at No1 Ship Street and we'll definitely be returning.

I went for the set menu the soup was amazing to start ,then had the chicken stew it wasn’t great ,dry dumpings plastic like, very bland chicken stew ,I was so disappointed, I’d told my friend how fantastic your set menu was ,but this particular day I left feeling very disappointed
