Extremely disappointed with the higher prices (raised them significantly again!) and the mezcal pairing with the taco omakase just doesn’t work. Used to leave buzzed and enjoy a variety of pairings—tonight I just sipped 5 tiny pours of mezcal that were great, sure, but not worth frigging $100 for the pairing. Used to get a cocktail, beer, several wines, a dessert drink, and a mezcal. So over the Enrique Olvera hype. This was the last time

Excelente restaurante hasta para ir solo. El omakase te da la oportunidad de compartir en la bata y luego tomar el postre en la terraza que es preciosa. Apasionados de la gastronomía deberían intentarlo.

Second time experiencing the Omakase bar. Great food and service. But disappointed with some changes they have made. First visit the drink paring was a mix of wine, beer and mescal. This visit you had to choose one of the above and that’s what you had for the entire meal.

Biggest disappointment is that they took the mole of the omakase menu. If you are hoping to experience this mind blowing dish you can only get via the tasting menu option and not the omakase bar.

I think this is a huge mistake. And the four people around me, who dining at Pujol for the first time, were extremely disappointed with this unpublished change.

Everything was amazing! All the food was well considered, service was impeccable, and the restaurant is incredibly well designed. Chef Olvera and his team have done well!

All was fabulous- variety and quality of the unique food and drink offerings. Everyone is wonderful and willing to share experiences of tasting and knowledge. The space along with all details are executed with great care and thought. Probably the most expensive meal that we have had but worth it.

I had an incredible meal at Pujol. Each course more delicious than the last. The servers were incredibly helpful and walked us through each course and the beer and mezcal pairings.
It was my first time ever booking a reservation for one, and I highly recommend it. I ended up having a great conversation with the group of 3 next to me. We ended the meal by talking on the patio as we enjoyed coffee and deserts. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Thank you!

Amazing experience!
When first two courses came out, we thought we would end up finding a cheap taco place as we would end up leaving hungry. But that was not the case! We were very stuffed with amazing food! 8 courses with either wine/sake, Mezcal, or beer pairing. They were also very accommodating with any restrictions or requests. Great atmosphere and service!

Quite possibly the best meal I've had anywhere in the world. I've been blessed to have visit other highly rated and well revered restaurants, but am often disappointed in the lack of authenticity to the region's food culture and also lack of spice or flavor (i.e. focused only on technique). The taco omakase menu is a genius idea to eat delicious food from regions all around mexico, demonstrating the unbelievable flavors and food diversity in the most elegant way. Yet, the meal was remarkably approachable and warm and welcoming - I had no shame or discomfort eating everything with our hands even though sitting in one of the world's best restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful for any dietary restrictions and explaining every detail about the food.

Can't wait to visit Mexico city again, to definitely come back to Pujol

Amazing! We flew all the way from San Diego, California to eat here and it was well worth it! We had the chefs menu the night before and the taco tasting the next day! I highly recommend the taco tasting with Mezcal pairings! Delicious and well executed food that is beautiful and delicious!

You will leave feeling embarrassed that you paid $200 for some tacos and a churro.

My wife and I ate at the taco bar several nights ago and we left the restaurant feeling as though we had been misled at best. Not one staff member explained to us how the menu works. The website describes the alcohol pairing menu as included in the price but it is not. We were told that we must choose either Mezcal, white wine or beer to accompany the tacos. During the tasting menu I was given 3 shots of Mezcal and an 85 cent Tecate. My wife had two bottles of artesanal beer and we were both charged $85 USD for the drinks pairing. Did I just pay $30 USD a shot? Yes. Did my wife pay $30 a beer? Yes.

The tacos we're good but all the tacos are good in Mexico City. Not one of the tacos blew me away but they are fine. Obviously they are more sophisticated than street tacos but there is not a huge chasm of quality that the price would suggest. One of the courses isn't even a taco...it is a ladel of two different mole sauces which they serve in the restaurant as well.

In summary the price is so obscenely overboard for the city that we left feeling embarrassed. I do understand that if you compare the restaurant to equivalents in other cities you can attempt to rationalize the price but would you really pay $200 for 7 tacos and three shots of Mezcal anywhere? One is a slice of eggplant and another is just beans. The desert is a churro.

There wasn't a local in the place and perhaps that's the problem.

The whole Omakase Taco Bar experience was incredible, service in the bar area was really incredible, one of the best I've had in the world. The whole tasting menú was a 8 step stairway to heaven tasting some of the most emblematic flavours of Pujol.
I most definitely recommend the tasting menu, on my end I had it with mezcal to really make it Mexican it was worth it. Kudos for this.

Sublime food - Pujol's reputation is deserved and, if anything, the food is better than the rave reviews! The food demonstrated a balanced finesse and a magical blend of art, creativity, presentation and taste. Each dish was perfectly rendered, perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. This is contemporary Mexican food at its peak, with a heart and soul.

The exceptional: the mezcal made for Pujol, the fish taco with charred avocado, the taste of mole madre.

The so-so: the amount of food and beverage felt like it was overwhelming by design, which didn't make me feel good for a number of reasons. The first few courses were under-seasoned, though they did make salt available for these dishes so I wonder if it was for some reason, intentional? One of our bartenders had a somewhat whatever attitude but service was overall attentive and seamless.

Dinner lasted 3 hours but it went by quickly—copious amounts of alcohol can be a great social lubricant and everyone at the bar was chatting with their neighbors by the end of the meal. The pacing of the food was good, the pacing of the alcohol was a little aggressive for me since there was almost a drink for every dish.

At ±$300 for two people (plus tip), the cost is easily 5x what you would pay at another upscale restaurant in Mexico City, but great value if you compare it to what a check would be in most other major cities for a comparable 'omakase' experience.

Atmosphere, food, service, and pairings at Barra Tacos were overall wonderful. It was definitely a worthwhile experience but not necessarily my favorite meal in Mexico City (nothing can really beat the street tacos). If you're on the fence like we were though, I'd say you should just see for yourself.

Even better than the “regular” lunch or dinner menu. The taco experience is the best! Including having desert in the garden! And you of course get a taste of the mole madre! For me, that is Olvera at his best! A must do when in CDMX/DF

We couldn’t get reservations at Pujol so did the taco bar instead. It was well worth it! My only regret is that my stomach was not big enough to eat everything.

We all had to do the drink pairing, which I would recommend anyway. Dessert was served on the patio.

GREAT experience. I sat at the Bar with friends and had the tasting menu with several juice and liquor pairings. It was awesome. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere is perfectly contemporary. It took awhile to get a reservation but is is totally worth the wait. GO NOW!

I was rushed through dinner. I was dining with a friend for his birthday and enjoying great conversation. I did not appreciate being rushed to get through our plates and drinks when I am spending that kind of money and trying to enjoy the world renowned food. Dining is an experience and mine was not great. I will not dine there again because Pujol’s business focus does not value this experience. Truly unfortunate.

We give Pujol very high marks all around...the approach to food and dining, the friendliness and skill of the staff and the tastes...all great to experience.

Strangely enough, the minor suggestion has to do with the set taco menu. It was very filling, maybe even too much food. (And that surprised us!) The pairings were great (even the non-alcoholic ones) as were the triple deserts. But a little more variety (soup/salad/pasta/fish) and a few less tacos might be even better.

Thanks for a great experience...and desert in the garden was a lovely touch.

I was really excited to go to Pujol, but I was a little disappointed. We did the taco bar and it was good, but it wasn't great. Overall none of the dishes had very strong flavours, and I think they were dulled further by being wrapped in tortillas. Just lacking pizazz. The atmosphere is great and the service was top notch, but I wish the dishes were a bit more exciting. I also found the drink pairings a bit stingy.

When booked thru opentable I didn't realize I had to commit to the Taco Omakase menu at the bar. It's prix fix tacos plus mandatory drink pairings. Came out to $320 usd for 2, which I feel was too much. I would have preferred regular table seating and choosing my own entrees. However service was pretty good. They were accommodating to us since we didn't want anything spicy. Nice touch that they serve the last course (dessert) outside. It was a delicious churro.

The service, ambience, and indoor/outdoor environment were certainly excellent. The welcome and farewell were courteous and polite as expected. I sat at the taco bar for the 10-course taco tasting menu. The experience is structured in a delightfully unique way: each set of 2 courses is paired with a beverage (usually wine); after the trio amuse bouche, and the main courses, there is an interlude where they take you to the kitchen for a brief tour; then, they walk you to the outdoor garden where they describe some of the plants which are used in the kitchen; finally, they sit you in this beautiful, lush garden for the final part of the menu, the set of desserts.

While the pacing is perfect, I did start to get a little full at dish #7, and could only have a few bites of the remaining main courses. But, this may not be a problem for others.

I was generally pleased with all the courses and their presentations. I specially loved the duck al pastor with pineapple, onions, and chili, and this was nicely paired with an Argentine Cabernet blend. The chili stuffed with Oaxaca cheese and Wagyu beef was rich and well balanced. Other dishes, however, lacked a complexity I was hoping for. For example, the eggplant tortilla with black and red mole was rather bland, despite the fact the black mole is a special preserve (a nearly 4-yr process). But! interestingly, the mezcal pairing completely changed the whole thing, bringing out details of the dish into sharper notes that I didn’t taste before. It was very nice.

Some things, I thought, didn’t really fit in the meal: specifically, two of the amuse bouche pieces, the puff with a shave black truffle atop, and the one topped with caviar, felt rather contrived in context of everything else.

But, the third of the amuse bouche set, the carrot on a stick with spices and coffee was delectable. And, the outstanding spiced coffee at the end was a delicious throwback to that carrot, and therefore a great closure to a wonderful meal.
