This seems to be a restaurant in decline. Dinner for 2 cost $160 and we went to the pub after and ate chips. The Burrata and tomato appetizer was okay, though the tomatoes were not ripe. For mains we got the crab-ricotta ravioli, and of the 7, 2 of them had no filling. The haddock was small, dry and sitting in an asparagus soup, which was suppose to be a purée along with a few muscles. It was a pretty bare plate for $40+. The server did her best but i had the feeling that the kitchen staff just didn’t care what came out. At these prices, they should care. This place needs a shake up.

The food was fine, not earth shatteringly awesome, but competent. The service was a bit spotty. Ambience was great.

Our dinner the 4 of us experienced was a big disappointment. A friend had recommended this place but she obviously had a different experience at a different time. The restaurant was, in a word, "tired." We should have taken our clue when we were only one of 2 parties in the room. Everyone else was dining at Braxtons. The main complaint is that that the food (we were told we could only order the tasting menu) was poor. The appetizer of foie gras --- while it tasted ok -- seemed to have been prepared and stored and a refrigerator for several days. The main course of lobster was small and quite tough/over-cooked. The wine we asked for (a Canadian we wanted to try) was unavailable, and the 2nd, a French, as well. The third bottle chosen -- for $30-40 more was available! The deserts -- from the chef pastry cart -- were old as well. About halfway through our lobster dinner, we complained to the server (who was trying his best) that it was a disappointment. His manager came by and said we could order something off the menu (who know) but by then we just wanted to leave. The waiter said he would take 20% off the bill, but that didn't appear to happen. I would have thought the manager would have comped the entire bill or maybe half. I DO NOT recommend the Passamaquoddy Vernada for dinner -- and probably the hotel (nice setting) as well. All probably great in years past but this place needs an overhaul. Again, staff were good (including front desk) but product not...

No ambiance (only 6 guests in entire restaurant). Food was below average: overcooked pasta, liver mousse was liquid... They pretend it’s a high end culinary experience. It’s not even close to it.

They should use better bread (it’s basically sandwich bread at fine dining). Focus on small details like also a vegetarian friendly amous. Lastly, pacing between courses was painfully long.

Excellent food and stellar service. We had the place nearly to ourselves. More people should take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

What a special place! We love high-end restaurants, thousand dollar tasting meals, etc. This was one of the best meals we have had in all our travels! Don’t miss it! The service was excellent and the dining room was quiet. I can’t say enough about the Algonquin!
