Rio Chama in Santa Fe, New Mexico is located not far from the Santa Fe Plaza, next to the state capitol. Since 2001, the restaurant has developed a reputation for simple, elegant dishes made with high-quality ingredients. You'll find a relaxing atmosphere offering a mix of intimate dining rooms, inviting patios and one of Santa Fe's most popular bars. It is a long standing Santa Fe institution, where Executive Chef Joel Hernandez features modern American cuisine serving the best prime rib, steaks and seafood. We serve the Edible Magazine 2023 People's Choice for best green chile cheeseburger. Excellent food, wine, and spirits with great hospitality and service make Rio Chama perfect for any occasion.

We take reservations for the dining room only. Our bar and Doug Montgomery @ The President’s room is first come first serve basis.

We offer 3 course prefix menus starting at $75 and ending at $115 per person. We also offer multiple buffet menus and assorted appetizers. We can do Vegan and Vegetarian options upon request. We will also change entrees in a event where there are Dietary restrictions or allergies.

Food was over cooked. Order filet medium and there was no pink. Ordered bread that never came. Would not recommend and will not be back.

We had a fantastic time, and came back 3 days later on a recent trip, the food was amazing, as well as the service, and a great atmosphere!!!

In the past my meal came appetizer; relaxing, then salad again relaxed, then entree. This time the salad, entree and ala carte came all at once which crowded the table and made my guests and I feel rushed. Make the service more relaxing, take time between appetizer, salad, and entre!!!

I’ve been here several times, It’s always been exceptional. Tonight it wasn’t busy and service was very slow. The food was great, but I was really looking forward to dessert and then an after dinner drink and it was never once even offered.

Dinner at Rio Chama was disappointing. We ordered an appetizer, a salad and entrees. All three courses came within 5 minutes. We saved our salad for last so that we could have our entrees while they were still warm-ish. The mashed potatoes were terrible in taste and texture. The prime rib was actually the best item we had. The atmosphere was pleasant. I would not return.

We love Rio Chama and have been there several times. On Sept. 13, 2026 we went for dinner with another couple. It was my 80th birthday and it was a small celebration. The food was very good as usual, but the service was less than par. After being seated, we had to wait several minutes for a waiter; water for the table was much later. The meals came fairly fast and were correct. Our biggest problem was getting such things as bread, butter for the baked potatoes and our side of salad dressing. After three or four requests and towards the end of our meal, we finally got the dressing. My wife had asked for vinegar and oil, what she got looked a lot like the food we feed our cat. Again, we do like Rio Chama and understand problems with staffing, but our overall experience this time was disappointing.
