Rising Sun Workshop
Was told about this place by friends, was well worth the trip. different than your standard breaky spot.
Great place for a drink or meal - food is really unique and delicious
Great atmosphere with workshop downstairs
Love Rising Sun. Food is always winderfyl and the staff are very friendly.
It's an excellent cafe inside a converted warehouse. If you want the quintessential Inner West / Newtown experience, you could do a lot worse than the Rising Sun Workshop.
Definitely recommend. Good food. Good service - though was a bit slow, but due to busy day.
The Chef’s Menu was delicious & a great way to try quite a few things without thinking too hard about what to order. Staff were lovely
Great people and beverages, Ramen was a little salty compared to others in Sydney.
Beautiful food with complex levels of flavour. A simple menu that satisfies many preferences and celebrates fresh ingredients. Awesome atmosphere to eat in, especially if motorbikes are an interest!
Every time I come here I have an amazing time. The food is always complex and delicious, if you're not sure what to get trust the staff, they have tried everything and they want you to have the best experience - same goes for the wines/beers, Bec always makes sure I love the wine I am drinking (total novice here, so impressed she gives me what I want based on very poor descriptions). Service is always on point, everything comes just before you realize you wanted it, and the space is beautiful. It can be loud if there are big groups, but there's always spots downstairs or at the bar if you want to have a quiet conversation and watch the kitchen do their thing. Every time of day this place hits the nail on the head, but if you want something special, the dinner menu is always above and beyond. Take someone you want to impress - or spoil.
Food never disappoints. Always fresh, creative, great size portions for sharing and trying a few dishes. Wine list varied and unique with new experiences all the time.
Highly recommend this spot! We visited for dinner last week, and were completely blown away by the whole experience. The menu is exciting, the staff are wonderful and the grapes are the genuine article...
Will be returning 100%
The service was great. Staff really friendly. Food was fantastic, great flavour.
The atmosphere was super cool.
The best ramen this side of Japan (or anywhere else that makes amazing ramen)
We went for brekky and the food was seriously delicious! Cool room / surroundings too. A hidden gem to some extent. Will definitely return.
Rising Sun was the perfect place for me & my colleagues to work, enjoy the food & coffee's & the great service in a great location. Will be there again, many times
Something different in Newtown...a challenging task, but met by the team at Rising Sun. Will definitely visit again.
Car park near by made it easy to drive there. Burger was nice with a hint of wasabi. Gyoza was nice and soft and yummy..
I was very pleased with the overall experience, although both visits were very short. I look forward to an opportunity to return for a meal.
The place is nice but would have expected a bite more things around bikes to decorate the place. Overall the food is ok (size a bit small for the price though) and the service was not great. We were 5 and we had to ask several times to get our beer/coffee as they seemed to have forgotten our orders. Same for the additional toasts we asked for we had to ask 3 or 4 times to get it. The waiting time was pretty long as well between the order and the food being served. They offered us the beer and coffee at the end which was a nice gesture.
Came to RSW with my family for a birthday celebration. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was delicious and the vibe was great. Would highly recommend!
Great service the staff were friendly and quick to respond, but also provided silent service too!! The ramen that I had was one of the best ever! so great work on the chef/cook department. Its all open table so if you want something more personal you might not find that here, but its still a great place overall!
Excellent food and service in an industrial/communal type setting.
The darkness ramen was delicious. As was the chai. And the cakes! Everything tasted fantastic, bit slow on service but it was a rainy busy Sunday. The staff were very nice helping my friend with the pram 😀
Loved this place, the wait for food was a little long but the atmosphere was awesome, food super tasty and love that they have gluten free noodles with the Ramen. I would come here again for sure!
Customer service was great but food was tasteless. After the food was hyped up, was expecting great things but no. Had the octopus, san choi bau and mackerel. The san choi bau was served with radish which overpowered everything. Would not recommend.
Love this place...the Bloody Mary is insanely good, they were super busy so service was a little slow but nothing drastic. Can’t wait to go back and try the lunch and dinner menus.
Amazing, attentive service and a fantastically flavoursome lunch of Darkness ramen & sticky pork. We were recommended a bottle of rose which was absolutely sublime.
Perfect Sunday lunch, couldn't fault the venue or staff, thanks so much xx
Staff were welcoming, food was good, good concept. I liked it.
What a find! Down a cul-de-sac and easy to miss. This local gem has seating downstairs if you are keen to watch the activity in the bike workshop or upstairs there’s a range of seating options - lounges, share tables etc. It does get warm upstairs but it’s all about the ramen - seriously delicious!!
Went on a Sunday, Rising Sun Workshop was awesome!
I really don't want to leave a 5 star review because I'm worried this place will get too busy 😥 They're just so great though; 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Always happy with their creative Asian fusion menu, and cool, casual vibe. Plus great local craft beers.
Great food, top crew. Love this place.
We had dinner on a Saturday night in the spacious area over the workshop. Was easy to get a booking. Food was excellent.
Lovely interior! The service was extremely good also - our waiter was very friendly and approachable, made us feel very comfortable too :) Will need an investment on air conditioner for a hot day!
Food and service great. Hit with 11% of extra charges at the end for service and card payment fees for any card. Pretty weak for an Australian restaurant. Especially weak given no notice of this was given in advance.
Food was sensational! Just a little hot with temperature outside reaching 35 and no air conditioning inside. We will definitely be back as the overall experience was great and restaurant team super welcoming.
Waitress was not helpful with explaining the size of meals or how much we would need to satisfy our table of hungry friends. We left hungry . Food tasted great thou.
RSW is tucked away from frenetic King Street in an uncluttered warehouse space. The long wooden dinning table are spaced well apart and I feel very comfortable in the space.
I have eaten here on a number of occasions and have always been impressed with their innovative approach to food, be it breakfast (best ever), lunch or dinner.
The service is usually exceptional. The staff are friendly, helpful and low key.
I'd go as far to say as this is my favorite Newtown dinning experience.
This is a funky place which is a working motorcycle shop at the same time with the restaurant with communal tables upstairs. Very good food too.
Friendly staff and wonderful food. Great vibe and feel to the place. Minor cons, it was a bit hot the day we went and the table was low for me being a tall person.
