We were returning from salmon fishing in Canada and stopped in Portsmouth for the night. Found Rudi’s on OT. Downtown Portsmouth was mobbed with tourists on Saturday night, so Rudi’s parking lot was a welcome sight. We arrived well before our reservation time, and the staff was very accommodating. They found us a good table. Very pleasant room with an outstanding pianist providing live music. The tables were full. The waitress was attentive. The caprese salad with local heirloom tomatoes was fine, but the lobster risotto was a major disappointment, gooey and tasteless. My friend’s haddock was crisp, but also generally lacked flavor. We skipped dessert. Perhaps we got them on a bad night.

Food and service was really good. Restaurant was quite noisy, however, making conversation difficult. I would return for the food though. 😊

It was our first visit. I had the largest lamb chops I had ever seen and they were wonderful. All of our food was well prepared and enjoyable.

Have dined at Rudi's a half dozen times. Service is always excellent, and food is above average. Nice atmosphere and jazz brunch is especially enjoyable.

A quiet Wednesday evening with a friend. Very pleasant, friendly staff. Fine local fare. We had clam chowder and little neck clam appetizers. The entrees were scallops and lobster rolls. It was very good food, with clever presentations and tasty elements. I'd go there again. It's on the pricey side, but worth it.

Must say the menu under the new chef is underwhelming. Swordfish was small and dry. Twice baked potato was tiny. Lamb was tasty but very difficult to eat given the way it was served. Tomahawk was cumbersome and dealing with all the fat made enjoying it difficult

This was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had anywhere!!! We arrived on time after driving for 45 minutes for a special night out with my son who just returned from college and my sister. After we sat down the service by Karen was horrible. She took forever to get us drinks and our order. then we starting waiting and waiting. After ONE hour she very calmly told us that when she pressed the button to put the order in she must not have pressed it hard enough. Ok, great, then she says the food will be out in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later the food came out. My son ordered the ONLY vegetarian meal, ravioli and asparagus. There was 4 asparagus. Mine was a simple salad with chicken. the chicken was not cooked at all, and I could not eat it. they took it off the check. We got there at 7:30 and did not leave until almost 9:30. The waittress could have cared less. And the place was almost empty. I really think they should try and sell to someplace like Nebo in Boston. We went there last night and it was fabulous. Rudi's is incredibly over-rated. And, we thought they would comp the whole meal, as it was quite ridiculous. they comped the drinks and my undercooked chicken. We were all so stressed out when we left this place. Don't go if you want to have good service and good food. Wait in line somewhere else.
