Salt & Meadow is a dining experience that unites the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay farms of Virginia’s Northern Neck. The waterways here curate an abundance of seafood complimented by a vast array of herbs, vegetables and fruit thrive year-round in the region’s rich soil.
Leading the kitchen is Executive Chef Kyle Perkins, who brings a wealth of experience to the shores of Irvington. Forging partnerships with local farms, purveyors to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint on a local level, demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship.

The food was good and the atmosphere was excellent. Perfect weather that day so we ate outside. I was surprised the waitress only offered water to drink. Was the bar not open? No soda or tea? That part was strange but everything else was awesome

Had a wonderful 40th Anniversary Dinner at the Salt and Meadow. Beautiful venue with incredible evening view.

In response to our request to be seated on the patio where there were many empty tables, the maître d’ told us he had all his tables set (whatever that meant) and then turned to lead us to a table inside without a further word. Not the warmest customer relations! Once we were seated, it was about 20 minutes before the server took our order. So, our Salt & Meadow experience didn’t get off to a great start, but our meal, once it came, was fantastic! The kitchen knocked it out of the park!

Salt and Meadow offers a pleasant dinning experience. The tucked away bar is handsome and cozy but their range of spirits and friendlyness is limited. The two tier dinning room is well lighted and has good acoustics and a comfortable sitting. It could use some warming personal touches. Though the the front of the house is lacking in its warmth and service, the short rib dinner we ordered was first rate. If Salt and Meadow could increase its selection of spirits and lift its front of the house operations, while maintaining a strong back of the house and an interesting menu, it could become a real gem.

My husband and I came to The Tides Inn on a little anniversary staycation. The ambiance of The Tides Inn is just lovely. Salt and Meadow is a beautiful restaurant with lots of windows overlooking Carter's Creek and the marina. The view of the sunset is just outstanding. The waitstaff was attentive, but we never felt rushed. The food was outstanding, and everything was cooked perfectly!
