We went to SAX this past Saturday veining. Our reservations were for 9:15pm...Everything was amazing! My friend and I are July babies and we celebrate with a group of our friends every year. We had so much fun! The food was really good! The shots were AWESOME!!! The show was cool. At 11:00 it turns into a lounge and we stayed...And didn’t regret it! Good mix of people and music. No long wait at the bar even though the place was full. So. Much. Fun.
Awesome live entertainment.
Very good first experience. The only drawback was the 75.00 minimum per person on a Saturday. For that price I expected the venue to be extremely packed, thus the reason we required a reservation. When we got there the place was empty. We were the only ones seated. A few tables came within the next 2 hours but there was still a lot of availabiltiy. But the food was good and the entertainment was amazing!
Booked this for a birthday, the show is great (not for kids or prudes). It's a burlesque show. We had pureed side of squash, the salmon. A week later, I'm still thinking about that damn squash.
Note: There is a automatic service charge. That was fine with me my service was fabulous.
Didn’t have the beer I ordered, which was the one interesting beer on the list (an IPA). Oddly empty for a Saturday, really brought down the vibe. Maybe the strict must-spend-$75-per-person-within-2-hours policy scares people away and should be lifted? Vegetarian entree uninspired, cheesecake dense and dry and we left a chunk of it on the plate uneaten. We ate and left without lingering, were hoping for a really special evening but probably won’t be back. If you want to check this place out, come to the bar and avoid a pricy Saturday night dinner surrounded by empty tables.
Extremely Poor food quality especially for the price.
The group of dancers were fair some of them wasn’t great dancers.
Our server was very friendly, but she seemed to be the only person working the entire upstairs dining area so sometimes it was hard to find her.
Food was presented nicely but usually overcooked.
Entertainment was nice to watch but not outstanding. (Doesn’t compare to a Cirque du Soleil performance....which is currently in Tyson’s)
Between bar tab, dinner and valet, spent about $450 for 2 people. Glad we went and checked it out but probably wouldn’t go back again.
I love Sax however the drink she provided was very good ask for the larger size & it was watered down didn’t notice till the second round o paid $84 in these drinks I informed her are said the drinks were pre made please stay upscale my bill was over $200 don’t cheat your customers the scale of your customer base can afford this level of dining and entertainment please don’t water down my drink
Great food, ambiance and service. I got the lobster Mac, crab cake, filet mignon and salmon were so good. Great drink selection as well. Will definitely be back.
The food is horrible. It’s like diner food but worse.
It was just okay. Service was great. Food was alright. Drinks were pricey and average. The show was something to watch. There are several shows per seating. The televisions or video equipment needs to be replaced ASAP. The show on tvs was not clear. We would not visit again.
The lamb chops ($39) were tough and fatty. The seabass ($40) had been frozen. And the chocolate molten cake ($13) is made off-site and the apparently frozen and thawed. For $238 you can find MUCH better food. But go for drinks! It's a fun spectale, all around.
We were really excited to have our anniversary dinner at SAX. The restaurant came recommended by a close friend. We were expecting to drop some $ which was ok, but the food and experience fell short of our expectations. The lamb chops were skimpy and a little too well done. The potatos for my husband’s side dish weren’t cooked enough. We let the server know but she shrugged it off. A new, cooked order of potatoes would have been ideal, or a complementary dessert. We were mostly excited about the burlesque shows but they were too short and not frequent enough. And they sat the 2 of us right between two large bachelorette parties. Disappointed.
Food was good, not great for the price. The drinks were watered down and they really have to push you out in order to make a profit. They only open Saturday Sundays. I don't recommend it for the overall value. The price was twice what the best restraints in DC offer and the entertainment though very good wasn't worth twice the price. Service was prompt to a fault and felt rushed out. Food adequate.
Sax is an awesome place to go for dinner. The food is wonderful the staff is incredible and very caring- they give you a free shot if it’s your first time. The shows are excellent there is one every 10 minutes. It becomes a lounge at night after 11pm with music.
The food and ambience were fantastic as always. The entertainment was extremely lacking...sax is my all time favorite restaurant in the city and I’ve been there multiple times. The jaw dropping performers were largely missing. The few that were there did not get much time. My date and I were underwhelmed for the first time at your establishment.
Great atmosphere!! Cajun Rib-eye was prepared and seasoned to perfection!!
We won't be back. This was my 2nd time at Sax and I invited friends since I enjoyed my first visit. We arrived a few minutes early for our 930 reservations. We were immediately escorted to our table but we didn't get to order our food until 5 minutes to 10, as our server was busy doing "who knows what?" While ordering, she advised us that we needed to hurry because the kitchen closed at 10.....and we needed but be finished eating by 1130 for another party to sit in our seat.......even though we waited for HER to take our order for about 25 minutes. She forgot several additional drinks that we ordered and was not too friendly for some reason. She would fill up some water glasses and not others... not sure why. Thank God the food and drinks were good or it would have been overall a horrible experience! We were sitting upstairs and were told we could use the elevators to get to the bathroom. When we pushed the elevator button, it was full of tables and chairs where no one could get on. Thank God none of us were handicapped, that would have been a disaster. When the bill came there was a $63 service charge that our server REALLY didn't deserve. We decided not to dispute it or make a fuss. We will definitely not be returning to that venue.
Great place to eat beautiful atmosphere
Great first time experience! Will definitely come again!
Absolutely amazing. Took my wife for dinner and a show.... Did NOT regret it. Excellent food with a romantic feel.
This place is amazing!! Love the ambiance!! Great food! Great entertainment!!
The place had a old glamour feel to it. The food was good and the performances were okay. The overall service was good and they offer valet. I would definitely take more out of town guests there.
Amazing burlesque/circus type performances over dinner. Food was lovely, quite expensive but felt that was ok given the entertainment. Excellent service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for more than just dinner.
In all fairness the restaurant's food was not the best nothing spectacular but you are paying for an amazing show. The dance scenes throughout the place are STUPENDOUS. The food was good just nothing amazing. They also aren't clear with Gratuity. 5 of us went and our bill was exactly what we expected but we didn't know if we needed to tip our server who was amazing as well. I would definitely return again. Be prepared for dancers to be around you and could possibly be involved in the dance.
Not just a restaurant - although the food is delicious - but a unique D.C. Experience!
The experience was great. I would definitely go back.
I have to say that I expected more from this place ,I understand the prices are based on the show too but the food was not good at all , very low quality.
The show was really good so i feel is better for drinks and a late fun night than dinner. The service was good but inexperience so they didnt have enough knowledge to help us.
If I come back will be only for drinks.
Amazing ambiance, super cute decor and great service.
Service was a little slow. Don't particularly like the 7 minute segments since they interrupt dinner being served. At times we couldn't see. I like the ongoing show on Sunday with the men rather than the shorter versions on Saturday. Overall it wasn't bad.
Reservation was on time. Waitress was super friendly and entertaining. Food was good ( especially the fried Brussel Sprouts).
Very underwhelmed by the performances. Not burlesque level and the performers seemed very robot-like.
Omg this place was amazing. First off, the restaurant itself is visually stunning. From what I know it is the only restaurant in the DMV that provides Cirque du Soleil style entertainment while you dine. I was worried that it would be one of those places where the food is not worth the expensive price tag. This was not the case. The food was absolutely delicious. I am someone who is very critical when it comes to my food. Sax did not disappoint. I had the Pan Roasted Chicken and my friend had the Pan Roasted Salmon. Even the vegetables that came with it were tasty. I don’t even eat Lima beans but I did that day! Last but not least, our waitress Alyssa was wonderful. She was attentive, relatable, she answered any questions we had and was just very accommodating. I rarely write reviews but this place really wowed me. I had a great first experience and it most certainly won’t be my last.
I can’t say enough good things about Sax. The food and beverages were all excellent. All of the service staff we interacted with went above and beyond to make our celebration go well. And the performers are amazing!
Went for a date that didn’t show, ended up by myself, however the atmosphere was pleasant enough that it took my mind off of the bummed evening. The salmon was Superb!
Celebrated my wife’s 30th birthday and had a blast! The ambiance was amazing and every show that took place every 20-30 minutes was also great. My wife and I can’t wait to bring friends here from out of town for a new experience of Dc’s hidden secrets! Surprisingly the food was also 5 stars and the only reason I say that was because everything else seemed to good to be true but thanks ‘Sax’ we’ll definitely be returning soon.
It was wonderful the food entertainment and service. Can’t wait to back.
We had an awesome date night. Our server, Alyssa, was very personable and attentive to our needs. The food was amazing and the drinks were made superbly. We are definitely returning with friends. Loved this place.
Had a great experience, but didn’t read some of the most important info on the site until, after we were bumped out of our seating by security telling us. They have people who reserved the seats for bottle service and would arrived in 10minites! At least that could have being clarified, when we first got there, by our waitress or waiter or any of their staff! That we are only limited to dinning for a certain number of hours. I think staff should give guest heads up that when you reserved for dinner, it’s later changed to bottle service, so we can be prepared to leave immediately after dinner! Especially being our first time, for a table of 4 with almost $400 in Bill! So I learned now! And the whole night we were there, the guests for bottle service never showed up until when we left a little after midnight!
