St. Anselm - DC
Excellent food service, and great outdoor dining option!
Excellent food and outstanding service. My only issue with the restaurant is that nothing comes with sides, so you're paying $34-60 for a steak, and an additional $10-15 for a side.
We sat outside in a private room with lots of air circulation and enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine, delicious appetizers and dinner and a terrific dessert with a port flight. The service was outstanding; we particularly had a lovely evening of service from Abby.
Very professional service and really good food. Prices a bit high but not crazy.
The food and experience were the best my family and I have had in the DC-VA area. Each dish was flavorful and exquisitely executed, including the cocktails. It’s no exaggeration about the pimento biscuits. The biscuits by themselves were fantastic.
Let’s start with the positive: the hosts were nice the food was pretty good (though $$ expensive and entrees have no sides included and the shared sides we ordered were small portions unlike what you’d expect). The service was very poor from start to finish taking nearly an hour before we could place food order or receive any drinks. When we explained to server we wanted to order given the late hour and that we were hungry, he became very defensive. Although I understand likely kitchen and staff shortages the server did not check on us very much or offer water. We had to flag down someone to provide water after sitting for a long time with empty glasses. In addition, it took the food a very long time to arrive at the table.
We chose this restaurant based on an article on Eater DC. It did not disappoint! The biscuits literally melted in the mouth. Great date night spot!
The food was outstanding as always and the wait staff were super friendly and hard working.
Food over flavored, no depth, no character. Literally the worst restaurant food experience I can remember.
How can you mess up potatoes?
How can you mess up steak?
I’m not going to continue. Just don’t go here.
My wife and I created a dining rule after this experience. We will always order a minimum of two apps. And if the apps are terrible we will leave. Wish we had this rule in place before last night.
Service was amazing! Food was just ok. Steak was well done when I asked for medium rare. Really loud odd music.
Fantastic experience. Our server, Adriana, was so incredibly nice. The food was delicious, I had the best biscuit of my life. Restaurant itself is beautifully styled but it is quite loud - I would recommend additional sound proofing. Don’t let that stop you from going, it’s an excellent restaurant!
Very nice overall - good drinks selection, excellent food, and prompt/friendly service; a bit too noisy to engage the entire table in conversation, but was not a generally loud environment
I loved the food and ambiance. Our waiter was super friendly but seemed rushed all night and like he didn't have time for us . It was a birthday dinner which was noted on the reservation which went un-noticed. I'd still come back and I'd still recommend to friends.
Everyone has been raving about St Anselm’s so I took my boys there to celebrate an occasion. We were all looking forward to a good meal, but other than one of the appetizers we ordered, the food was not good. The biscuits were heavy and greasy, the roasted carrots had a weird taste, the smashed potatoes were undersalted and thus tasteless, and the $58 pork chop tender enough but also had no taste. Our waitress was great but I definitely would not go back.
Very High Energy and loud. The food is phenomenal just very pricy!
Great food with a cool vibe. Will definitely go back next time we are in town.
Outdoor dinning available and good atmosphere for meeting up with friends.
We ate outside in the “divided room” space. It felt very COVID-comfortable and of course the noise level outside was very manageable. We had great servers and delicious food…particularly high marks to salads.
The food and service were excellent. The biscuits are incredible! We were seated outside for precaution, but the inside looks like a lot more fun!
We ate brunch outside and it was incredible! Great food, friendly service and a fun atmosphere. We will be back!
really a must-visit for the DC area. I could not recommend it more.
Food was excellent, we had the biscuits, ribeye and Bronzino, grilled carrots and the fingerling smashed potatoes. Topped it off with the ice cream cake to celebrate my birthday!!
Only issue was was that the meal came out within 5 minutes of us finishing our biscuits. Would have liked at least 15-20 minutes between biscuits and main course. Awesome meal, ambiance and service!!
St. Anselm never disappoints. Everything we ordered was outstanding, and our server was helpful and friendly throughout our experience. We can’t wait to come back!
Cool atmosphere, delicious food, laid back and wonderful for a date night dinner. Christopher, our waiter, was a delight. Glad to have such a great spot in our neighborhood.
One of the best brunches I’ve had in dc, hands down. The bacon was life changing. Make sure you go here!!!!
We are still not eating indoors, we came hear for brunch. My wife had an omelet that was fluffy and tasty. I had a cheeseburger, we shared a butter lettuce salad that was also quite good. Our favorite place closed during covid but this is now our regular go to place
Delicious food, perfect hospitality
Over time, tried just about everything on the menu and it’s all very delicious. We arrived at our favorites and We keep ordering the same items because it’s soooo good and satisfying. Love wine list too.
Delicious meal for my mom’s birthday. Everything was fantastic.
Excellent service and even better food - honestly every item we ordered was delicious.
St. Anselm was fantastic from cocktails, to appetizers to entrees to dessert. Service was great and meal was fantastic. I look forward to returning.
My wife and I dined at St Anselm for our anniversary. Honestly, our experience was outstanding in every respect. Our server was knowledgeable and very attentive. As it was our anniversary, we received a glass of complimentary champagne and were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant. The meal was superb. Awesome ribeye, incredible biscuits and pimiento cheese, but the oysters with garlic and butter sauce was maybe the best oyster dish I’ve ever eaten. We’re definitely coming back.
great experience all around!
Appetizers were OK, steak was perfect, sides were not good at all.
Service was on the proper level.
It looks a bit overpriced to me.
And beer in 9oz mugs… come on… are you serious?
Very nice steakhouse. Well worth the money
Wonderful food and service! The food is well priced for the portions and tastes great!
Our party had seafood, steak, and chicken and all were delicious. The biscuits and grilled broccoli are must haves!!! The chocolate cake, carrots cake, and cookie were also hits. Great food and great service.
Delicious food, great service and ambiance! Definitely will go back!
