When ordering cheese and crackers to go with our flight of wine the lady pulled out a package that looked like a lunchable you could buy at the corner store. Our reserved table was old and had stains on it. There were flies all around when trying to sample our wines and eating our packaged cheese and crackers. Disappointing experience.
The most relaxed, friendly environment of all the wineries we visited. Sat outside on lawn and enjoyed the food we brought plus some we purchased and sampled the wines. Surprising to all of us, we liked the Tannat the best and had a bottle of that. Lucky enough to have a perfect weather weekend, it was lovely.
P.S. If you want a guaranteed "seat" make a reservation--Covid protocols for distancing, etc.
Beautiful view, good wine, and not very crowded. I highly recommend!
Outstanding. Great reds and fantastic view. I will go back again.
The flies were awful! Please consider spraying. Difficult to enjoy wine or food while constantly swatting at them or having to get up and down to get wine and food. Would be a whole lot safer (covid) if you had servers bring items out, as opposed to guests having to move throughout & close to others to wait in line to purchase items. This used to be one of our favorite spots, but we we’re treated rudely from the very first encounter walking up. Too many other local choices. Sadly, we will not be back.
Didn’t have any food so gave one star. The rose was very good and the set up for Covid precautions was well done. The pours on my tasting flight were the smallest tastes I’ve ever had at any winery. For $10 felt ripped off. One of my friends got the same flight and the pours were better. So maybe just bad luck.
Adorable little winery with amazing views. They are doing well keeping things safe. Wines are very pleasant. I will definitely be going back!
Placed us in direct sun with no cover and then let people who didn’t have a reservation set up camp chairs and a truck in front of where we were sitting and they blocked the view. Tried the first flight of wine too and was underwhelmed.
We went to Stinson for my wife’s birthday. What a pleasurable experience it was. Beautiful setting and great wine. Highly recommended.
Wonderful wine, mountain vista, staff. Will certainly return.
I loved this vineyard and the atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The descriptions of the wine were very helpful and accurate and allowed me/my partner to make choices that were catered to our specific preferences. It was very beautiful and peaceful.
We had the most enjoyable time at Stinson! We love the wine, the gorgeous Mountain Views, and the impeccably friendly service we get from Jessica each time we visit!
Lovely place, it was quiet and beautiful. The staff was incredible and we plan on going back the next time we are in Charlottesville.
Celebrated our daughter’s 25th birthday. Beautiful area. Wine delicious. Jessica made it very special.
Small winery with very good wines. Tables are spaced apart so that we felt very comfortable and most tables had an umbrella or test for shade. We will be back.
Great staff! Peaceful winery, we loved it!
Beautiful place and delicious wine! Would recommend if looking for a more intimate winery experience.
We love this little winery. The wines are excellent! The workers there are friendly and we felt very safe there. It was a great day and we will be back!
Quiet, pleasant surroundings provided by accommodating purveyors that make quite nice wines.
Great winery. Beautiful views, and service was friendly and beyond expectation!
Great setup for outdoor seating, even in the heat.
Stinson, quite simply, makes some of the best wines in the state!
I’ve lived in the Central VA wine region for 12 years and Stinson is my absolute favorite vineyard. The wine is phenomenal, staff is incredibly friendly, and they have a gorgeous and peaceful Mountain View. Excellent safety precautions as well in the COVID era. If you appreciate a family run, intimate setting and beautiful wine - Stinson is simply the best the region has to offer.
We had heard good things about Stinson and it did not disappoint. The outdoor seating layout was excellent both in exceeding distancing requirements and in providing a view to complement the tasting. The Adirondack chairs were comfortable as well. Word to the wise, reserving in advance makes it likelier you will be in a shaded spot. Three tasting menus of four wines each were available, of which we had two, with only Cab Franc overlapping. We thought the standout among our selection on this quite sultry day was the Tannat-based rose, but the Meritage was one we would return to in cooler weather or with a substantial meal. We brought our own lunch -- sandwiches from Foods of All Nations, highly recommend! -- but the winery had some prepackaged selections of cheese and charcuterie available. They had run a little short that Sunday, I believe, so we were glad to have thought ahead, and appreciate their relaxed attitude about outside food. Nice servers, worthy wine and understated but sublime ambiance, our fave of the weekend in Monticello wine country.
Amazing views, great wine and excellent service. What a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine and enjoy the Mountain View.
Awesome time! Beautiful views and great cheese and wines.
Sat outside, since Corona virus, no restaurant but snacks. People are welcome to bring their own picnic and most others had. Very beautiful setting. Good Chardonnay!
Lovely family-owned boutique winery, beautiful setting and views, fantastic wine, incredibly professional and attentive staff, high quality all around, even those little details that most people don't notice.
Great time, good ambiance. Very affordable flights and good safe set-up with reservations/limits on the amount of people, wearing masks, etc. during COVID-19.
Best winery around! Lovely atmosphere and the hands down best wine!
It was beautiful and everyone was friendly and helpful. They have great wine!
You can buy snacks there, or bring your own. The view is amazing, the service is fantastic, and the wines are even better than both of those.
Outstanding! What else would you expect? Hey, this is the Stinson Winery, the best place to relax. Beautiful views of the mountains, excellent wine, superb service. Come and check on your own!
Such a cute little vineyard/tasting room. We were there during COVID-19 and it was all set up very well for social distancing. The Rose was delish! We will definitely return again soon <3
Brought a beautiful picnic and paired the Stinson Sauvignon Blanc. Very nice day. All necessary precautions are being made due to Covid 19. Always a nice time there. Great views!
Our first visit to Stinson in the COVID Era. It was a wonderful touch of normalcy! We’re wine club members and have always loved their wines. Plus the staff was great (all had masks on), the tables separated... and the views of the vineyard spectacular. Just loved it!!!
Beautiful views and delicious wine!! Highly recommend
I was impressed with how organized it was. The staff were courteous and careful to have distancing. Thank you Stinson for opening up your vineyard.
The vineyard was beautiful, the wine was very good and the staff was very personable. It was a great experience.
Love this place so much! The staff are wonderful and the wines are fantastic!
