Located in the historic Thistledown at Seger House building, our Farm-to-Table restaurant is the ideal setting to enjoy the historic ambiance of Ligonier.

Our new concept incorporates influences from around the globe to showcase the bounty of fresh food grown right here in Western Pennsylvania.

We lean into our location and access to some of the best local farmers' stalls in the region and let the heirloom ingredients shine in dishes featuring fresh produce and highlighting local game like venison and pheasant.

I was excited to try this place for lunch, but unfortunately, the food is typical western Pennsylvania fare. I realize sugar is the main food group around these parts, but it does not belong in a Caesar salad or a sausage and bean soup. Surely, any decent chef would know this. Apparently, the chef takes their leftover sweet rolls and makes croutons out of them and then throws them on top of everything. We also tried the smoked gouda French onion grilled cheese. My idea of a grilled cheese is a crispy, buttery outside with tons of gooey, melty cheese inside. Not this one. There was a barely visible slice of gouda on the bottom and a thin slice of some yellow cheese on the top of a big scoop of onions inside of two big slabs of white bread that didn't seem to have been cooked at all. I could have made a really delicious one at home, with zero culinary training.

When we went there the waitress just went through a list of things on the menu that they were no longer serving. We looked at the menu before hand and already knew some of these items that we were looking forward to so that was a little disappointing . We drove an hour and 20 min for this reservation. Otherwise it a good experience.

The food was just okay. We had the valentine dinner. The salad was very very sweet. The duck was okay, too much cabbage on the plate, and the mashed turnip was bland and gummy. Ordered the chocolate trifle but there wasn't any chocolate. Disappointed for the price and quality. The best thing were the drinks and tomato soup. Would probably only go back for a happy hour.

The service was exceptional. The food was great. The dining area is next to the tasting room which had big groups of people spilling out and close to the table while we were eating. When the tasting room cleared out, the dining room was quiet and lovely.

This was our second visit to Sweet Rust. The first time was for brunch and everything was great. However, this time we were very disappointed. As starters, we ordered the focaccia and the brown bread rolls. The rolls were extremely dry and not edible. For $8, I was expecting something wonderful.. they were worse than day old bread. The entrees were a little better. Salmon was excellent, the tomahawk was cooked well and quite good. However, the wild boar medallions were dry and tough. In fact, most of the dish was left at the table. Service was attentive and responsive. Cocktails were enjoyable. We were looking forward to a birthday celebration, but we were disappointed and will not be returning.

Our experience was great ! The atmosphere was enjoyable - the menu was not huge BUT that meant everything on it was done right! Our meals were very, very good. My husband enjoyed the tasting cart - where he sampled several bourbons. We are happy to find a new restaurant in the area.

Outstanding! Ligonier needs more options like Sweet Rust. Good food and cocktails- with nice creative and fresh takes. Really looking forward to going back. The venison chops look amazing, and the thick pork chop was perfect! Rabbit legs were fun, and can’t wait to try the lamb sliders next time- fig and grapefruit salad was a perfect way to cleanse the pallet

As soon as I walked in I was seated at the bar and offered a flight of their specially distilled spirits by Andrew the Bartender. He walked me through all of the cocktails as well as the food menu and explained how everything in the restaurant, from the drinks at the bar to the appetizers and entrees are all made from scratch with local produce, game, spirits and so on. The old fashioned made with the corn harvest bourbon was possibly one of my favorites. The rabbit legs were like a divine giant chicken wing that could have been a meal themselves. Upon trying the Sausage & Lentil soup, you’ll melt into the satisfying but simple flavors. When I found the dinner menu and inquired about trying the Wild Boar despite it being lunchtime, the chef was happy to oblige, needing some additional prep time to throw the feast together. The extra minutes were an excellent investment after tasting the Parmesan crusted green beans with the glazed carrots and fingerling potatoes; the sides were a perfect balance of flavors. As for the boar medallions, they were like a superb pork loin roast that reminds you of a dinner like your mom used to make. Finally, the blackberry roll was the perfect sweet note to end the meal on. Blended with apples, nuts and warm spices, it’s the kind of treat you wish you had on hand all fall and winter-long. Bottom line: Sweet Rust is the kind of farm to table restaurant this area has been needing for a long time. The food, drinks, the ambience and the staff all flow perfectly with what the restaurant aims to achieve. It’s a truly pleasant dining experience for any occasion.

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch with lovely, fine dining touches. Lamb sliders, with blackberry/pickled jalapeño jam and creamy brie, were utterly delicious. Salads were substantial and very fresh, with perfect dressings. Looking forward to returning for brunch and dinner and more lunches!

What a great find in Ligonier village! We were visiting from NYC for Thanksgiving and chose Sweet Rust Farm to Table for a date night while here. All of the food was so delicious, and the staff all very friendly. We loved it and can’t wait to bring my parents next time.

Amazing farm to table food - we had the wild boar and bison. Simply delicious. The corn bread is a MUST! The hand crafted drinks were spot on, we had Manhattens & whiskey sours. The ambiance was so cozy with the fireplaces going and management/service was awesome. Hoping this place stays for good!

The pheasant was excellent. The wild boar came out cold and was over cooked.

Exceptional food, attentive service, and very good wine and cocktail menu. Spirits tasting on site is a nice addition.
