Takai by Kashiba is a fine dining Edo-Mae style Sushi restaurant that specializes exclusively in nigiri sushi.
Sushi Counter is solely Chef's Omakase, seated at 5:30 and 7:30.
Omakase is also available at our dining room tables along with a la carte Sushi options.
We do not have vegan/vegetarian/kids menus available. We are able to accommodate most allergies.

Led by Chef Jun Takai, the Omakase consists of local and international seafood accompanied by Kaiseki style dishes. Takai by Kashiba creates an elegant atmosphere whether you're seated at a table or the intimate sushi bar.

Omakase style drink pairings are also available along with a thoughtful selection of Sake, Wine and Japanese Whisky.

Perfect Anniversary dinner. Hired a babysitter, hired an Uber, ordered the Omakase and a bottle of bubbles. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Will be back.

Having been to Japan, this is the best Omakase experience I've ever had in the States. Very thoughtfully crafted authentic nigiri sushi. No amateur-hour fusion rolls or sauces and spices. This is real sushi. Great sake list and service is impeccable. Pricey, yes. Worth it, absolutely.

The omakase was a thoroughly enjoyable experience! The variety of high-quality cuts of fish and nigiri was the primary focus of the omakase. There is nothing too experimental on the menu - my impression of chef Takai is that he really just enjoys eating some good food. The kaiseki items interlaced with the nigiri courses were also very delicious. Overall, the ambience was quiet and intimate.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the area along with Shiro’s and Kashiba. What I appreciate about Takai is that Chef Jun innovates- and not just by incorporating local fish. Takai has been the only place I’ve been serving dry aged fish side by side, and is the only place elevating very humble fish like the sardine or the smelt. It was surprising to find that they were among my favorites. And for that alone Takai is worth saving up for a try.

Food was a bit disappointing for the price you pay. Other Kashiba restaurants are much better. The rice was dry and the fish meh. For. $160 omakase I expected more

We did the Omakase experience and it was great, will do it again and again. Love the place and flavors, the tuna trio is a must. MAny dishes like the Ice cream are 100% japanese food. Sushi is amazing.

Extremely over priced for the experience. The service wasn't great - they kept forgetting to pour our sake and wine pairing and three times we had to remind them. I didn't like how close we were to the table next to us as it was too quiet and I felt like they were just eavesdropping on our whole conversation. Not enough sushi for a $600 meal - we have been to many places for omakase and gotten 2x as much food as we got for this meal.

What an immaculate experience. Chef Takai and Chef Richie were so friendly and humble sushi artisans. We enjoyed the unique counter omakase variety and the appetizers/desserts were also so tasty and special. Great place for a celebration but might be best to share a bottle next time... drinks a la carte seemed to be pricey for single glass/pours.

Amazing dining experience through and through. The chef is incredibly skilled and the flavors are explosive! Would definitely return for more! I’m a fan of Sushi Kashiba in Sesttle. I’m so glad there’s another great sushi experience so close to where I live.

By far the best sushi on the eastside, if not the Pacific Northwest. Real sushi. Entertained business partners from SF and they were blown away.

Terrific experience! We got the omakase at a dining table - 12 courses, all of them delicious. Our favorite was multiple spectrums of toro. Service was fast and right on schedule.

Came in for a business dinner. Sushi is high end, not the Americanized fusion roll stuff. There are no rolls. It's what you'd expect in Tokyo. Service is top notch. Did not do the pairing though may try it next time. Had the Hibiki whisky instead. Was very satisfied. 11/10

Excellent and attentive service for my party of four. Communications between reservations, wait staff, and kitchen could be improved, for example, I repeated my preference for the omakase and the food restrictions four times. But a very pleasant experience overall.

This was one of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had. From the moment you walk in Chef Jun and his staff are completely focused on your experience. We participated in the 23 course Omakase meal. Every piece was so flavorful and of the highest quality. We will absolutely be returning.

Always a phenomenal Omakase experience at Takai by Kashiba, from the fresh and melt in your mouth sushi, either locally sourced or from Japan, to the wonderful and attentive service, I highly recommend this fabulous restaurant!!
