Since eatitupChicago.com is the official website for #ChicagoRestaurantWeek, I had to follow their lead! I headed to @thealbertchicago with @gmomduke to get a sneak peek at their restaurant week menu. Even though Restaurant Week officially kicks off on the 24th, The Albert is already serving up their prix fixe. For sips the Vesuvius cocktail (a smoked Old Fashioned) erupted table side while @gmomduke and I cheersed with the Smoke & Mirrors (a Mezcal Negroni), and the Quixote (tequila, black raspberry, lime, and ginger beer). For the first course, we savored seared ahi tuna with Calabrian chili aioli, and my “heart” was all about the artichokes with romanesco, arugula, and balsamic. You “gnocchi” I was thrilled for the mains: pillowy gnocchi with fresh tomatoes and basil pesto, and decadent four-cheese ravioli with white truffle cream and Marsala glaze. Hopefully when you saw me “raviloling you weren’t hating. For a sweet ending we indulged in their signature olive oil cake with pistachios and honey, plus a new mint chocolate Bundt cake with Prosecco and strawberries.
