The Alley Restaurant
One of our favorites
Great food at a reasonable price. The Alley has a very talented Chef. Eileen is an excellent waitress and makes us feel at home.
Staff and food were on point. We will be back very soon!! Thank you!!
Staff always excellent. Friendly…
Had a great evening with tasty food and great service.
We just moved into this neighborhood and The Alley is known as a locals hangout. This is the second time dining here, the first time was for brunch and we enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and eggs Benedict, we sat outside with our puppy. Service is hit/miss depending on how busy they are but they’re always friendly.
Last night we went for dinner and a tad disappointed, the vibe is energetic which is great but it can be really loud at times and difficult to have a conversation. We ordered the wedge salad and prime rib sandwich. The wines by the bottle are really overpriced, a wine we buy from the market under $30 was priced at $64!! We ordered a glass of wine and a martini instead. The wedge salad is huge!! The server asked if we’d like it chopped up and mixed for us? Sure, great idea!! The lettuce was shredded like you would get on a sub sandwich and had the taste of preservatives from a bag. I couldn’t eat mine after a few bites, the tomato was sad and the bacon was almost nonexistent and the blue cheese was sparse. It was underdressed on top of it all.
Then we waited awhile for our sandwich but that was actually good. The steak was tender and juicy with a good portion amount. We shared this as well, one suggestion for servers-When someone is splitting a beef dip sandwich always bring two au jus, no one wants to share their au jus even if they’re married.
We really want to love this place as our neighborhood restaurant but I’m not convinced it’s our place. We will give it another try maybe for lunch next time.
We split a chopped wedge and it very good and very generous. My hubby liked his lamb chop order. I had pecan crusted trout which was good but the crust was moist not crusty. Mac and cheese = great and what can wrong with spinach. Surprisingly, the house Chardonnay was good and I’m pretty fussy!
This a good neighborhood restaurant and bar. The service is very prompt and friendly, and the food is good, well prepared and served hot. Drinks are good and generous.
Our little party loved the Alley. Food was amazing, service was great. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and loved it. Not sure we would have loved the noise inside but it sounded like fun.
Super great service and excellent food! Very loud, even in the daytime when you would think most people would be outside. Otherwise, fantastic experience!
Love the food
Bottomless Mimosas were a huge hit with our party. The service was great!!! They just leave the bottle on your table so you are truly bottomless. I highly recommend. Added bonus the omelette was amazing!!!!
Great place for breakfast/brunch. Service was amazing
A wonderful environment. Classic, European interior. The food is excellent, and the service is even better. This was our first time, but we'll be coming again soon!
We have been going there for awhile now, great local place to eat. We enjoy it!
Excellent prime rib 😋
Huge portion sizes. Food was very good as was the service and selection. Great experience. We'll be back.
Had a great meal and a fun time visiting with servers and Andria the manager. Our first visit in over 1 1/2 years do to COVID-19. We will return soon.
Good food, great help. Always enjoy going as we’ve made good friends with staff and like atmosphere….
If you want great food that is reasonably priced, go to the Alley on PCH. They have specials during the week Monday through Thursday. I highly recommend the Sand Daps their signature dish.
We have never been disappointed! I guarantee you’ll like it!
Wonderful service and great food
Food was very good but the service was quite slow.
The wait staff was friendly and attentive, the food was very good!
Great atmosphere! Was in the area on vacation and we found this place online. Made a reservation, but didn’t need it since it was a Monday night. Beginning with the greeting we received from the hostess to the attentive wait staff, our experience was great! Now the food… My daughter and I split the wedge salad, which was one of the best we’ve ever had! We each had seafood -my daughter had the Calamari almandine and I had the Pecan Crusted Trout. Both were delicious! And the portions are generous. I also had a twice baked potato and my daughter had mac n cheese. Both were also good. While dining we noticed that the wait staff seemed to know most of the customers who were at the bar and dining room. Seems like a place the locals go. The noise level is a bit on the loud side since it’s not a big place, but you can still have a conversation. I highly recommend The Alley!
The have a small menu but they covered all the basis. They also have a daily specials beyond what is listed on their online menu. Our party had the Prime Rib w/ mixed vegetables, the NY steak w/baked potato and Classic Burger. The portions were large compared to other places. The Prime Rib was cooked the way I asked and was very tasty. The noise level can be loud, if it’s important to you they do have outdoor seating. The place feels a little cramped but it works. We will be going back to try their Brunch soon.
First waitress had a bad attitude, Shenay took over and she was great. Came for the Prime Rib special used to be $16 now $18 and this time it was the thinnest piece of meat we have had at this restaurant, not good value. The "loaded baked potato" was a plate of mashed potatoes with 6 squares of chicken, not edible sent it back after one bite.
This restaurant has always been one of our favorites but last night was not pleasant.
My husband and I enjoy going there once a week, great food and service!! We love it!
Always the best!
The place was so loud you could not talk @ all
Perfect environment for a weekend dinner outing! Food and services were great, we'll definitely be coming back ;)
It felt like I stepped back in time. Good American food. I enjoyed the classic burger and sweet potato fries.
Food was horrible. The Rib Eye was half fat. The Creme Brulee (if you can call it that) was runny and not set. The atmosphere was a bunch of middle aged to old Newport drunks. Bad experience overall.
Love the alley!!! Brunch was amazing
Sunday Brunch was very good! My Bloody Mary was strong, the food quality was very good, cooked well and it was all on point in the taste dept. We're coming back for dinner soon.
Best brunch in OC! Highly recommend the Alley to anybody who finds themselves in Newport.
We loved our dinner here! It’s ambience, very cheerful servers, very delicious food and not being so expensive make this restaurant/bar amazing! We’ll definitely go back to The Alley!
Highly recommend this restaurant! We had steak, veggies, mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. The steaks were cooked perfectly, so tender and delicious! Our server was very friendly fast and efficient.
Service was FAST and friendly. Food was great
Great food and service. A little noisy but overall a great place for everyday dining. We will go back
