With an ever-changing menu full of locally sourced ingredients, chef & owner William Wakefield along with his wife Suzanne and their team are sure to have something for you. Good was delicious, cannot fault it so tasty. Staff were lovely and could not do enough for you. Meal was not rushed there was time in between courses which was good. Will definitely be back

The Back Street in Dumfries is superb. I can safely say it's my favourite place to eat in Dumfries. It has a varied menu, with dishes that excite and they are executed perfectly by William and his team in the kitchen. Over time we have got to know the staff and they are exceptional. They are extremely warm and attentive. It's just always a delight to visit. We will be back as soon as possible. I cant rate it highly enough. It's fantastic.

We have previously had lovely meals here, however this visit was very disappointing. The food was excessively salty, this was not pleasant (we drank two jugs of water between us) and it also tainted our taste and enjoyment of our £42 bottle of wine. We felt rushed - there was no break between starter and main courses, this also meant we were so full that we couldn’t finish our main courses. The staff were apologetic when we complained, but did not offer any resolution (other than to take our unfinished food home), we felt this was an inadequate response. We could hear singing, whistling and swearing from the kitchen as we ate, which was not a very relaxing environment. One of the most expensive and unenjoyable sub-hour dining experiences we have had.

Great service, waitress was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Really great food, menu not huge but everything sounded tempting. VERY noisy with a group of very loud females who would have been better suited in Whetherspoons, however didn’t spoil our evening

Booked last minute after arriving in the area. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Great service and nice relaxing atmosphere.
