OPENTABLE 2026 DINERS' CHOICE! After 45 years on the Oregon Coast, The Bay House found a new home in May 2025 in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Located in the charming town of Dayton, the restaurant now lives inside a beautifully restored historic church on the town square - transformed by proprietors Steve Wilson and Maureen O'Callaghan into an elegant yet welcoming fine dining space. Led by Executive Chef Nathan Bates, The Bay House culinary team works collaboratively to elevate simple, farm-fresh ingredients into thoughtful, refined dishes. Known for its world-class hospitality, The Bay House is one of only four AAA Four-Diamond restaurants in Oregon since 2015 and a recipient of The DiRōNA Award of Excellence since 2024. The wine program - one of the largest in the state - features over 2,600 selections spanning Oregon, Washington, California, and many of the world's great wine regions. Together, it all creates an experience that is both deeply personal and truly memorable.

We had a delightful dinner and stayed at the Dayton Inn across the street on May 10th. Service was great. Each course of the tasting menu was well prepared and plated. We have now eaten at all three locations of the Bay House. We have also eaten at the locations where the chef had worked previously. I happened to look at the website and was completely surprised and disappointed to see the announcement that the restaurant was closing as of May 16. It will be missed.

Beautiful ambience and service. Food was good not great. Halibut overcooked and over salted. Set menu for 5 course meal with choices for $150 per person. Not the best value, food wasn’t memorable. The rest was.

Our Tasting Menu (with wine pairing) was delicious and beautifully presented. Obviously it was expensive but considering all that we had to eat (and finished our plates totally) and the beauty of each course, it was worth it!

The ambiance of the restaurant is fabulous as was the service. It is a little misleading to say that the menu is A La Carte when it is a Fixed menu and you have two options of selecting one side of the menu or other. For our group, we are not big meal eaters. They did accommodate requests. It's also noted that it is $150 per person which wasn't shown on the menu pics within Open Table and with a bottle of mid-priced wine you will be spending about $800 for a group of 4 with gratuity.

Was a little disappointed to learn at the restaurant their 'A La Carte' menu really meant a 'set menu' but you get to choose items. My group wasn't prepared for a full 5 course meal and therefore we ending up taking whatever food we could 'to go'. Be warned, A La Carte at the Bay House is a package deal, not sold or priced separately. The food and service were both delicious and amazing, but when you're not prepared to eat a lot of food, it becomes overwhelming.

We had the fixed 5 course menu and it was amazing! So glad we stumbled upon this intimate upscale restaurant in Dayton, Oregon wine country! I’m already making plans to take my adult daughter there (she’s a foodie) on her next time out here. I know she will love it too. If you’re in the McMinville area be sure to stop in and have a meal - anything you choose will be excellent ! And the service is top notch too.

The Bay Hpuse is a true treasure! I was so impressed by the service and the only thing better was the FOOD! It is an amazing restaurant and I am grateful to Steve, and the entire staff, we had dinner to remember my late wife, and they Bay House made it not only special but memeorable!! I hadn't been here since it was on the coast anf it exceeded all expectations and was even bettet than I remembered!! This is an amazing place and the food, service, and ambiance are stupendous!!
