The Church House Inn is a pub nestled in the heart of the village of Harberton near Totnes, south Devon. We serve honest food, fine wine and local ales. the building was built roughly 1450 and has been an inn/ pub ever since, bosting one of the most amazing rooms you will have ever been in for a pint or hearty meal, draped in history and character.

Our food menu changes daily and with the seasons. We serve straight forward food, using traditionally cooking techniques. Produce is sourced from the local area of the beautiful Devon countryside and fishing town of Brixham. please visit our website for our most current menu.
we also have a games room for pool and darts, and a heathy sided bar witch we keep for drinkers.

Fabulous set meal - a seasonal Sunday Roast of duck and roast potatoes, cabbage and squash salad. Cooked and presented with passion, knowledge and enthusiasm. Wonderful atmosphere.

I recently moved from London to the tiny village of Harberton near Totnes. It’s a beautiful part of the world and I feel blessed every day to be here. THEN I DISCOVERED THE CHURCH HOUSE INN ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏 EACH TIME I EAT THERE I SMILE AND THANK THE HEAVENS FOR PROVIDING FOOD AND SERVICE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. beautifully prepared local ingredients served with love care and attention. Thank you all who keep this place alive it’s a great treasure!!

Booked dinner at this pub for my wife’s birthday. Soon as you walk up the line you instantly feel like you’ve gone back in time. Inside the pub the candles are lit and you almost feel like you’re in a Harry Potter set. Food was great and the wine was even better. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a traditional English pub feel with lovely atmosphere.

Tasty, well presented and well cooked food. Various choices to suit all types. Some interesting flavours which were inspired! Well worth a visit. Only downside is parking is difficult but found out there was available near the cemetery.

An outstanding experience, both in the ambience of the ancient structure, a simple, but imaginative menu, immaculately cooked, a quirky and well priced wine list catering for adventurous choices, and friendly efficient service. This is my favourite option in terms of local restaurants. Parking can be an adventure, best done further back in the village.

We visited as a table of 9 for my brother’s birthday, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. I was surprised to find there was no children’s menu. I’m not sure whether this is because children aren’t particularly catered for here, but I found it very odd. We were charged £16 for a child’s burger, which was extremely thin with just some cheese, and half of the chips were essentially the crispy bits from the bottom of the frying basket. We had to ask for these to be replaced. I had the T-bone steak, which was cooked to perfection and was genuinely delicious, so I can’t fault that. Unfortunately, though, the rest of the food was fairly underwhelming. The biggest issue was the service. We waited around 55 minutes for our mains. We were told this was because we had ordered the steak medium, which seemed a very strange explanation, particularly as we had been booked in for 6:30pm and there were only 3 or 4 other tables dining at the time. What really left a bad taste was being charged £24 in cakeage for a cake we had brought ourselves, despite already spending nearly £350 on food and drinks. Charging £3 per person for us to eat our own birthday cake after spending that amount felt excessive and really took the shine off the occasion. The staff themselves were friendly, but despite that, the overall experience somehow felt quite unwelcoming. Sadly, what should have been a lovely birthday meal ended up feeling disappointing. There were some positives — particularly my steak and the friendliness of the staff — but taking everything into account, I wouldn’t recommend it and unfortunately wouldn’t rush back.

We had the most amazing lunch at the Church House Inn, we were celebrating an engagement and it was the most beautiful place to go for a special occasion! The warmth and hospitality is clearly such an integral part of the Church House, there’s so much warmth and kindness weaved through the whole experience! The food was absolutely exceptional everything was made in house even down to the sausages which were sooo good!! I honestly don’t think I will ever had roast chicken as good as that again! I really don’t think we could have picked anywhere better, it’s rare that you feel so at home somewhere so quickly but also feel cared for! The church house in is the embodiment of hospitality with no pretence just exceptional food and warmth! It feels like a true privilege to have been able to go to such a wonderful place!

An excellent experience overall. Great food - very tasty with interesting and unique choices and flavours. Very friendly and informative service. Good value too, comparing with similar establishments. Great ambience and space in the inn - steeped with history and events. I can recommend if you are visiting or in the area.
