The Elgin is a bar & restaurant serving upscale fare situated just south of Rockefeller Center & steps from Broadway & Times Square. Our goal is to provide sophisticated cocktails, a carefully curated craft & seasonal beer list, amazing food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Please join us!
The Elgin’s 4 main principals, Peter Pernicone, Darwin Conner, Paul Baum & Christine Trauben, have known each other for 30 years. They all grew up on the lower west side of NYC in Chelsea & had a goal of owning a bar together & could not be more excited about opening The Elgin. As an acknowledgment of their collective history, they named a signature cocktail—the Chelsea 1724—after their neighborhood. Darwin & Paul grew up in Chelsea on 17th St and Peter & Christine lived on 24th St. They are joined by Patrick Callaghan who has been working with Peter for many years.

Delicious food and fast and friendly service! We were going to see Les Mis at Radio City and the timing was perfect! Great place to grab a bite to eat before a show!

Ate here before seeing a show at Radio City Music Hall with my 16 year old daughter. They were able to fit us in 30 minutes before our reservation which ended up being much needed. Everything was great, from the atmosphere to the food and the service. Drinks are pricey but aren’t they everywhere 😉

I had high hopes when I found The Elgin. I appreciated the origin story of the 4 men who own it. I loved the attention to detail in the storytelling. When I booked the reservation I noted that there were a lot of menu items of different styles, but I thought they want to cater to a large crowd of tourists, so it's not a big deal. My salmon burger, though cooked, was grey and unappetizing. No sear or grill marks. My companion liked his short ribs and mashed potatoes but said they were salty. Our server was both overwhelmed and shy. It looked like she was covering 12 or more tables and that was just downstairs. The AC was blasting, which forced one table to move. I had a wrap, but I could see why they moved. I imagine if we had treated it as pub food and eaten at the bar, our experience might have been different -- if I had ordered something other than the salmon burger. It is located around the corner from Radio City Music Hall and other Rockefeller Center sites, so if you need to be there, sit at the bar, have a burger, and call it a day.

Great spot for a pre show lunch. Our food arrived quickly, drinks were refilled, and check delivered promptly. We ended up with extra time to browse some stores prior to our 2:00 show.

Dinner at the Elgin was wonderful. We went there before a show at Radio City, and the service was as quick as we could have wished. We had a bunch of appetizers, one main dish that we all shared and some lovely drinks. It was not cheap, but I do recommend the Elgin, especially if you’re seeing a show at Radio City.

Charming ambiance, great, varied menu, excellent food and service. When busy could get a little loud. I've already recommended it to others
