   Like the aesthetic of the place, new, modern, high windows and there is a view of coit tower where we were seated. The food was good and to be fair the soft shell crab was amazing and maybe the egg roll with cavier as well but every other plate was good. And in the end they brought all last 3 courses together maybe they were jus trying to get us out of there but I didn’t mind since it was nice to have the food all at once. Otherwise idk if I would come back.

   Excellent upscale Chinese cuisine with nice views of the area due to being on 6th floor. Sure you can get cheaper food in the area but you won't get the same fine dining experience. Good cocktail and wine list as well.

    Very disappointing - started well with bar service and beautiful environment. There was an issue with our dumplings and they were all whisked away - new ones were brought after a wait which were fine BUT everything after that was luke warm - not what you would expect from a Michelin restaurant

    I visited the restaurant as a birthday celebration with my best friends. We ate off the fixed price menu and the food was both well presented and delicious. The views from the building and the decor within the building itself are lovely which makes for a great, if not slightly noisy (pending the track playing), atmosphere. Overall I would recommend this restaurant for a memorable evening out but be prepared to pay $$$ as it is quite expensive. My only disappointment with the restaurant was with our waitress who by the end of the evening became rude. All other staff were very pleasant so this appeared to just be a reflection on her rather than the rest of the staff working there. If you don't get her you're on to a winner!

    The food was a nice mix of traditional and modern Chinese cooking. The presentation could have been better. For a pre-fix menu that costs upward of 90 is (I guess) cheap per SF standards but I think I expected a lot more since the reviews were pretty great going into the restaurant. The service wasn’t amazing and it was extremely loud where we were sitting so we almost had to shout lol

    No meaningful textural distinctions from dish to dish. Almost everything we were served had some kind of gelatinous quality to it, and the flavor profiles of each dish were too similar. The only time a kind of crunch was introduced when they added peanuts, but even the peanuts felt like an end of prep addition instead of something actually married to the dish.

    Amazing experience! We’ve been to a lot of Michelin 1-star places around the city and around the world and this place seems better than some of those. Great mix of traditional and modern Chinese cooking and everything is a treat. Wine pairing was top notch as well. Hope they get their star soon!

    Was so looking forward to trying this restaurant. Expected an elegant dinner with wonderful food. It was bland and the service was by teenagers with masks so you could not hear anything they said. Cocktails were fine but overpriced and odd. Only the cod was well prepared. Everything other dish was boring. Creepy fish like dumplings in broth. I was embarrassed to bring guests to this loud nightclub vibe place with bad food.paid for 6 people to have tasteless, at times, greasy food. Feel totally ripped off. Should have gone to Benu where the food is exquisite and service is impeccable. I am shocked there are good reviews for empress by boon. I have had better food for a fraction of price on Clement street. Views were “ nice” but unless you are a tourist, nothing special. I wonder if this place is designed for tourists who do not realize there is fabulous food all over SF. This place needs a new menu with delicious food- each course should be excellent, dessert should be included, turn down the bad nightclub music so people can have a conversation. It should be elegant bit tacky Vegas vibes

    The decor is stunning. I really love how no one on the street level can tell that such a beautiful restaurant exists…literally a hidden gem. It took at least a good 10 minutes after we were seated before a server greeted us…one of the 2 reasons why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 for service. The second reason is the server’s overall demeanor. She was perfectly nice but not michelin star worthy. I love that I did not have to choose anything except for the beverages. From the very first bite to the very last, my taste buds were in epicurean heaven. There was absolutely no way to choose a favorite dish…just no way. For a meal of this caliber priced at under $100, it doesn’t surprise me that reservations are hard to get. I can’t wait for my next visit.

    Pre-paying for dinner at $200 for 2 people, we had a high expectation of this restaurant. There’s no valet, had to call to confirm where to park. And GPS took us to the back of the building. Bar service was great, but when our table was ready we had to wait 20 minutes for service and drinks.

    Empress by Boon was a good restaurant overall, but the experience was not quite what we expected for the price. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and making sure our water was always full, and explaining each course as it came out, some with more rush than others. While the food was good, there were at least 3 times which they brought out the food when members of our party were in the bathroom, so the food had gotten quite cold by the time they had gotten back. We all enjoyed the initial small bites, with the turnip cake and truffle puff as top two for the whole party. The dumplings were cute, but did not have as much flavor as we expected and the "soup" or "sauce" with it was not well integrated with dumplings. The quail pancakes were good but the filling to pancake ratio was definitely off. The shared plates were a decent size, although we all agreed we would definitely would have been left wanting more had we not gotten the peking duck add on (which was a bit small for the price point). The braised beef with tofu, which would have been the main centerpiece had we not gotten the duck, was all of our least favorite. It lacked flavor and once again the sauce was not well integrated. It missed a textural component and would have benefitted from some salt as well. The chinese chives, and rice were nice accompaniments to the final course adding some green and deep flavors. Given the price point of over $100 per person with the duck add on (for a party of four) it was somewhat surprising that dessert wasn't included. The meal was very filling though, so we were ok skipping dessert. The view was stunning, but the lattice pattern on the window was very unfortunate and somewhat distracting sitting at a window seat. Overall it was a good experience, but the majority of the price point seems to be due to the view and the ambiance.

    Very loud in the restaurant. Too many small tasters up front and you worry that there isn't going to be enough food but the last course is big. Views are amazing. Restaurant is beautiful. Service is outstanding. More traditional dumplings and XLB would be a great addition to the menu.
