    This was our first time at The Folly and it was really great. Not a big menu but enough food choices and the food was lovely. The portion sizes were generous and everything was tasty. Venue is good - right by the river so I imagine it is a great place to be in the summer.

    Food was substandard and overpriced. The soup of the day was tasteless, although the presentation was nice and colourful. My main course, the fettuccini with prawns and crab had just a tiny pinch of crab, maximum of five small prawns and lots of sauce making the dish more like a soup with fettuccini. I was expected to eat this with a knife and fork. We asked to see the dessert menu but it was not brought to our table, so we paid and left. The interior décor needs updating and the handle to one of the toilets was broken and needs repair. Altogether the experience was very disappointing.

    This was a birthday treat and didn't disappoint. The Folly is a lovely restaurant set by the river that offers a very good value tasting menu with the option of a paired wine flight. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and our waitress explained the food and wine for each course without sounding pretentious. The food is beautifully presented and even ingredients that wouldn't be our choice usually were well prepared and devoured (e.g. the mackerel with beetroot - I'm not keen on mackerel and my husband doesn't like beetroot but we both cleared our plates). The restaurant doesn't feel stuffy and the background music was loud enough to hear without interfering with conversation. It's a nice place to sit back and enjoy a relaxed dining experience. I must comment on our predinner cocktail - we chose the spicy mango margarita and absolutely loved it. Definitely spicy and full of mango. We will return :-)

    The food was delicious and service was perfect, with a lovely special acknowledgement of my best friends birthday. Restaurant was very clean and calm and we had a lovely time

    Beautiful restaurant and loved sitting outside by the water. Heaters and blankets were available for a crisp fall evening. Service was exceptional!

    Excellent attentive service , beautifully cooked and presented food. Great range of GF options: and reassured of coeliac-aware procedures. The only downside was the noise level which was at times uncomfortable: hardly any soft furnishings to absorb sound , so when groups are present the volume was unpleasant: took the edge off a special fine-dining experience.
