The Thursday night special is my favorite! A perfectly executed Prime Rib Pot Pie. It’s so good and really hit the spot on a rainy fall night. We sat in the Bar area with a cozy fireplace nearby. I love The Getaway for moments like this.

Love the ambience of The Getaway. Most of our 6 meals were good. The stuffed meatball was hard and cold and they took it away while offering other options. Still a nice place to go to. Good wines to enjoy and outdoor seating on nice days.

It's quite apparent that this place is just not well managed, which is a real shame, because it easily COULD be very good. We were seated more than 30 minutes after our reservation time. We needed to remind the hostesses - young girls who seemed clearly overwhelmed - several times that we were there still waiting. Had we not, they would have given our table to someone else, I'm sure. Once we were seated, it was another 30 minutes before a server came to our table. She was very friendly and under normal circumstances would have been an excellent server. However, because she had WAY too many tables to cover, she couldn't help but to just be very slow in attending to us. There were no place settings on our table - we needed to ask a busboy to get them for us. The entire experience - from when we walked into the place until when we had finished eating - was around two hours. That wasn't because we lingered - we left almost immediately after finishing our meals. It was because the service was SO slow due to inadequate staffing. In my opinion, that's a management problem. Speaking of which, I think I MIGHT have seen a manager delivering food to tables at one point. I make that judgment based on the fact that he had a tie on. Not unlike our server, he seemed somewhat frazzled and overmatched by the situation. He was doing nothing to help control the inflow of patrons which clearly had the young hostesses at their wits end. Like I said - poor management. I want to reiterate that our server was very nice and friendly. The food is pretty decent - I'd give it 7.5/10 - and the atmosphere is outstanding because the place is right on the lake. It simply needs to be managed better and differently, starting with making sure they have enough people to serve the clientele.

My baked cod fish was a bit dry, but the seafood bisque & clam chowder were delicious. Thumbs up on the bruschetta & fried calamari. The burger was good. The Shrimp Diablo & Pork Chops were very good.

Great live entertainment when we were there on a Friday night. Such a beautiful view of Lake Como from any table in the restaurant.

Food was excellent as was service. Weren’t able to have the table we requested was already reserved but stayed empty for our entire stay.

We had reservations for 6:15. We were seated immediately. There was a band but they were set up in the bar area, which is small we couldn’t hear them from the dining area inside. Our server was overwhelmed, had tables inside and outside, bad move from the manager. Keep your servers tables together. Food was reasonably priced, but nothing special. Halibut was thin and dry seasoning was good. Half the size of what I consider normal. The broccoli was undercooked and had black ends, meaning it wasn’t fresh. The girl who delivered our food couldn’t speak English well enough to understand. On our way out we were shocked to see her manning the hostess stand. The band was supposed to play until 9, but was sitting at the bar drinking at 8:40pm?? So depending on what you’re going there for I would stick to the sandwiches.
