For hundreds of years The Golden Fleece has been a haven of refreshment on the old road between Brampton and Carlisle. A place for travelers and visitors to rest and recharge their batteries amidst some of England’s most beautiful countryside. But never has it offered hospitality quite like you can enjoy today. Today, The Golden Fleece is everything a true English country inn and restaurant should be.

The Golden Fleece has a been awarded 4 stars by the AA, our restaurant is the proud holder of an AA rosette for culinary excellence. We are honoured to be listed in the Michelin guide and to have won "Best Country Pub' at the 2014 Carlisle Living Awards.

Overpriced food, tiny portions, uncooked chips. Unacceptable wait to be shown to table.

I moved up to Carlilse 6 months and have visited some great places to eat, however the Golden Fleece will take some beating. They focus on Quality not Quanity and have never failed to deliver other than perfection for both food and service.

Our visit to the Golden Fleece was outstanding in every way the food the service and the value for money. The steak i had was the best this year along with the peppercorn and brandy sauce. My wife had the sea bass which also very good . Make sure you book before going to the restaurant as it is always busy as word gets around how good this place is .

I've been going to the Golden Fleece for about a year now, and not once have I ever had any reason not to be overjoyed. The setting is stylish yet homely and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. There is a varied selection of beers, wines and spirits; far more than you would often find in the country pub restaurant. The food... oh the food! The starters are well portioned and beautifully decorative, the mains (particularly the Steaks) are varied and delicious with good helping of vegetables and potatoes/chips. If after all that you can mange a dessert, they are always popular choices and devilishly sweet. All in all 10/10

Great service, great food. Been many times & will continue going back for more. Really love this place and will always recommend to anyone considering. Proposed to my wife to be on this occasion & got great support from the team. 💍❤️🍾🍴

From arrival to departure we were treated very very well. From check-in (which, being a late booking had taken some time to ripple down to the desk) we were given good attention, shown to our room, which was clean and well appointed, and given clear information about the dining and breakfast arrangements. Dinner was very good, the staff were very cordial and relaxed. Everyone that dealt with us had a similar comfortable demeanour. Breakfast was served in a timely fashion. All the food was freshly cooked (the bacon was excellent!). We'd definitely stay here again without hesitation.

I recently visited the Golden Fleece for the very first time and brought along family members. We were welcomed from our very first steps into the bar and right the way throughout our visit. Service was excellent and the food and wine matched admirably, I would most definitely visit again and it will be very soon

Went here for my wifes birthday staff were very helpful and friendly . The food was very good , I had a rib eye steak which was cooked prefectly and very tender. Well worth a visit.

We visited for a meal on a Saturday evening as a couple. We were well looked after. We had 3 courses and wine. The food is devine. Presented really well. We had steak that was cooked perfectly. The service was brilliant until the end of the meal when it was too busy to get the bill. However no complaints. I would highly recommend this for anyone, couples, families etc.. everyone is welcomed. There is a warm friendly atmosphere. The food is on the expensive side bit it's worth every penny.
