Opening their first location in the spring of 1984, Helen Babalos & Thomas Makris brought us Anatoli Souvlaki. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection. They opened in the sleepy neighbourhood of lower Lonsdale and lived above the restaurant to ensure the quality and service. They were able to create a North Vancouver staple, a successful thriving restaurant based on faithful patrons and a reputation that has been passed through generations.In 2011, the family-run restaurant was taken over by their sons Alexi and Iani. In 2015, the brothers, alongside their cousin Daniel Bergman, expanded on their parent’s dream by opening The Greek in Yaletown, with a focus on mezze-style dining. Now open in Gastown. The Greek is a reinterpretation of the North Shore's iconic Anatoli Souvlaki.

La comida deliciosa y la atención fue muy buena. Íbamos con niños y fueron súper amables y serviciales con ellos. Todo lo que probamos nos gustó mucho, el cordero, los souvlakis, humus.

Perfect meal! We sat outside and loved it! This is our second time eating at The Greek, this time right after a trip to Greece. The food is authentic and delicious, with some hard to find items on the menu!

We went to The Greek in Gastown on Saturday night to celebrate a birthday, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The food was very average. The chicken souvlaki came in tiny cubes of chicken, the rice tasted like parboiled rice, and the potatoes were too toasted. For the price of the plate, I honestly expected much better quality and presentation. The music was also extremely loud, almost like club music. We asked if it could be changed or lowered because we wanted to enjoy a quiet dinner and conversation, but it remained loud and irritating throughout the night. The only wonderful part of the experience was our waitress from Ukraine. She was very kind, warm, and attentive, and truly the best part of the evening. Sadly, aside from her service, the overall experience was unpleasant, overpriced, and not somewhere I would return.

The quality of the food was exceptional, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented! The service was equally impressive: what stood out most was the team, friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. A wonderful dining experience. PS, Noor is the best ❤️

Restaurant is amazing, staff is friendly, and food is amazing! My only concern is the music being SUPER loud. It’s hard to make conversation. And I don’t think the music fits with the vibe of the restaurant
