The Ivy Cafe Richmond
Lovely staff, beautiful surroundings, crisp linen, delicious food
Best meal I have ever had at any of your Ivy restaurants. Chef was superb.
Very enjoyable lunch , good food , lovely atmosphere and great service
Lovely service as usual at the IVY cafe. Bar staff were wonderful and the food was good quality
Very good meal with excellent table and attentive staff
Excellent food with large portions. Great quality restaurant including the food, facilities and staff
The shepherd’s pie is worth the trip alone.
I went for my brother’s birthday meal and the serving staff were as welcoming and attentive as ever. Although we were ordering from the Brunch menu (I think the cut off time is 4pm), the food choices were very strong. But I suppose that it was refreshing to order the Avocado Eggs Benedict as a main for a change! Will go again, of course
Nice food nice vibe ! Great restaurant , average prices .
Been to the Ivy Richmond a number of times but never on a Saturday evening and I dont think I will again. The seating staff were out of their depth with people jumping in and talking over each other dealing with chancers who hadn't booked, while ignoring new arrivals who had booked. It was like being at an airport check in when a flight has been cancelled. Chaos. The serving staff clearly just wanted people to hurry up and order, hurry up and eat, hurry up and leave with not a smile in sight. My friend has Coeliacs so was asking which dishes were gluten free because the menu doesn't state this very simple, necessary fact. When a restaurant like this doesnt bother taking allergies seriously enough to clearly mark their menu, it leaves one quite concerned about their priorities. The waitress had no clue what was GF, had to ask her manager, who also had no clue so the back and forth to the kitchen was endless. All while hurrying us in their curt manner to just choose. Not a great experience. The food was, as usual, lovely though.
Generally a great dining experience. Fantastic ambience and food.
Only criticism is that we felt rushed to order our meal by the waitress.
We had a lovely meal - we always love the Shepherds Pie! It was a bit noisy and apart from the chocolate bombe the desserts a little disappointing
Consistently very friendly and excellent service from all the staff. Food selection and quality first-rate, and good value given the service and ambience
Great food. Excellent service. Felt very looked after. Stunning decor. Lovely place. 1st time I've been, and would definitely go back.
One of the best restaurant experience I have had in my recent memory, without a doubt this year. From the moment you enter to the moment you finish your meal, this place will tease your senses into wanting you to stay. Beautifully decorated, very clean and the service from the staff was professional. Well done.
Lunch with a friend. Service was excellent and all Staff were very attentive. Chose our meal from the set menu and it was very good value. Have visited two other Ivy cafes and this was the best by far. A very enjoyable experience.
One of our meals was wrong- we were served a meat lasagne instead of a vegetarian one but they handled it well. Took it off the bill without us requesting. Brought chips to fill the gap!
Excellent service, good food and atmosphere.
Only criticism is that it is very noisy and menu lettering too small and difficult to read.
I love the Ivy and I often meet my friend there for a get together. I loved the chicken salad that had been on the menu for years. It has been taken off and I am very disappointed. Other than that, Ivy is one of my favourite restaurants.
I love the decor and the upstairs looks smell beautiful. Seriously, what do you guys use? I liked the overall menu. My main gripe was our table felt like we were sandwiched in an angle between two tables and we were so close I could follow both of our neighbours’ conversations. Also the draft from the window was noticeable, so I would really recommend a table away from the windows on a cold day. The service was attentive although our waitress had to be reminded about our drinks. I like my wine with my meal.
I do wish that restaurants would dispense with putting the service charge on the bill. There was a time when restaurants only did this with larger parties but it’s crept in and is now the norm for many establishments. I’d prefer to give money directly to our server.
We didn't have any eye contact with the girl on the door or a smile.
The house red wine in terrible, you must change this.
Otherwise food, ambiance and team were excellent. Thank you!
Excellent food and wine 👍👍
Not a place to go if you want to have a peaceful lunch and quality conversation. NOISY! Also very cold draught from the door so I definitely would not recommend going there in the winter!
Very slow service, felt understaffed but food was very good
Celebrating my daughters birthday. Lovely food but a shame we were sat right by the door where it was rather chilly as door continually being opened. Very busy restaurant and struggled to have a conversation due to volume of noise.
Elegant restaurant - fine dining at a fair price (we always have the lunch menu). Wine prices also fair for such a venue. Noise can be a problem - that's why we book for 2.00 pm - noise is less of a problem mid afternoon.
All good except for the acoustics. We were on the table for 6 and found it very difficult to hear what was being said due to lack of sound barriers as experienced before.
Fantastic atmosphere, stunning surroundings, great service.
Good food but poor choice for vegans.
Would have preferred a bit more savoury, and less of the sweet stuff!
We had a wonderful family dinner to celebrate my birthday. Our waiter was very attentive with a little humour too! I was pleasantly surprised to have a birthday cake (with candle) at the end which was a lovely touch.
I´m on a gluten free diet at the moment and went for an afternoon tea to The Ivy Cafe with a friend. I didn't ask the before for the gluten free menu but it was no problem at all and I could enjoy an excellent gluten free afternoon tea. Excellent service!
Really lovely food and the service was outstanding. We go out as a family a lot and everyone agreed that the service was the best we’ve ever experienced. Shame that the acoustics are so bad as it was very noisy and we thought my aged father might struggle. As it emptied out it was much more pleasant. The young French waiter who took over half for the evening shift was an absolute star. He should go far.
Small portions, cold food. Plenty of staff but inattentive. Desserts were the best part of the meal. 3 meals taken off our bill so at least the complaints were recognised. Shame because the food tasted delicious but stone cold
Excellent food and service.
Good value and a great evening with friends.
Only slight criticism is that it was quite noisy.
A favourite place for birthdays!
A few changes to the menu have been made but much loved duck salad, fish cakes and black cod remain as options. Try to leave room for dessert, which we failed to do. They serve a really great G&T and overall the atmosphere is feel-good, set in an especially attractive dining room.
Birthday dinner after a matinee
Food always very good and service amazing. Would like me a change of menu a bit more often though.
Our waitress Agnes was very attentive without being intrusive. The food wasn't as good as on previous visits with very small portions however the overall experience wouldn't put me off returning.
Nice venue, good service, abundant cream tea. The only negative note is that it's just noisy if it's very busy.
Disappointing and overrated. Not a special experience.
