New Year’s Eve 2027 at The Last Refuge One historic church. One hell of a New Year’s Eve party. Ring in 2027 at The Last Refuge with an all-inclusive celebration inside our restored historic church in NuLu. Gather your people, dress for the occasion, and give 2026 a proper send-off with premium drinks, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a countdown to midnight. Doors open at 8 PM, with the food and beverage package running from 9 PM–1 AM. This place is only getting 3 stars because the concept and main room are cool, otherwise we’d be in 1 or 2 star territory. The food sucks here - the pizza is like cardboard with cheese, and we were basically kicked out of the restaurant three times. First time was “hey you guys have been at your table too long and we need it for the next reservation.” No problem, so we move to a lounge area that specifically they told us to sit in. So we hang out there for a bit and then we’re told by someone else that we can’t sit there and need to move again to two seats that are totally safe for us to take. Eventually a waitress comes by and is put off by where we are sitting and doesn’t seem to want to serve us. Get it together guys.

Prices were pretty reasonable for both food and drink. We started with the Parishioner's Popcorn. It is like crack (if I knew what crack was like). I wish that The Last Refuge sold it by the bag it is that good. The pizza (we had half Italian sausage and mushroom, while the other half had both those, plus cup pepperoni) was delicious as well! I do highly recommend getting reservations, especially if you want to sit in the main dining area with the huge wall of bourbon/whiskey.

The Last Refuge is a special place. It is a converted church, with two walls of liquor bottles, mostly bourbon and illuminated to give it the glimpse of heaven feel. Claire was an amazing server. The food was good, a limited menu.

We ate dinner before the Halloween experience and the food and that staff was excellent!!! However, the Halloween experience had so much potential, yet was horribly executed. The place was gorgeous and alluring, but the DJ sound system was poor, the promise of entertainment was almost non existent and the one good activity (tarot reader) was only paid until 11 and could hardly read many people at all. Why not have like 5 readers and go all night? Many people dressed up and came and were very excited, except once they saw the lack of promised dancers and stilts and other things, they left. The event had so much potential and we literally got nothing for $30. The door workers and bartenders were all lovely, this is not a knock to them at all. The event management/coordination struck out on this one, sadly.

It was my birthday and I was sorely disappointed ☹️ the dj music was hard to hear The ambiance was nice for Halloween and the staff were friendly but the event I paid for was extremely late getting started and it was not good at all. We left disappointed

We brought a group of 5 to the Halloween Masquerade Party ($150 cover total) and spent hundreds more on food and drinks. Unfortunately the venue completely failed to deliver on its promised amenities. The advertised live acrobat shows never happened, the DJ did not play music appropriate for dancing, and the tarot card readings started late and were cut off early, turning our group away. There was almost zero seating in the party venue so we went to the restaurant to sit and eat but were turned away as all tables were reserved for outside, non-paying reservations. Instead we were sent to an adjacent room that was freezing cold. I have reached out to management for a refund, but they have not responded.

the pizza was overly greasy this time, and our server disappeared for more than half of our time in the restaurant. probably won’t be back for awhile!
