Really enjoyed a rare date night at the Martinsville Tavern last night. It has changed hands a few times in recent years so I was curious and didn't know what to expect. I had been to previous versions. We liked this new take on upscale casual dining in Martinsville. The decor definitely fit the name and location - seemed like we were in a cozy tavern in the woods. The food was excellent, but our only critique is that the menu didn't seem to match the name - definitely not tavern/pub food - more upscale. Not too expensive but you should know that it's not pub food going in. Husband had the salmon and I enjoyed the cod. Honey Bee martini was refreshing and the cocktails were unique. Smallish menu but nice choices.
Excellent service and ambiance was festive . All of the food was amazing and the suggested featured wine was so good we are going to try and find it for the holidays !
We made a dinner reservation for 7pm. Were sat immediately on arrival. The place is a beautiful restaurant with a staff that are VERY attentive! We each had, the tenderloin, the lasagna and the seafood, everything was absolutely phenomenal. We will absolutely be coming back!
Food was great backed by excellent service.
Service was great and the food was amazing!!! Will definitely go back again!
Nice selection of entrees. The fig appetizer was wonderful. Nicely decorated... tables were adequately spaced apart. Bar is intimate & cozy. It was my first visit and I will visit again.
Saturday night dinner on a cold night temperatures in the 20s. Food was excellent although presentation was a bit unusual in some cases (pasta dish was served in a skillet). However, we were seated in an enclosed outdoor space which was cold and drafty. In fact it was so cold that we had to eat with our coats on. Not a very pleasurable meal.
Loved the whole experience. The food was outstanding as was the service. Antonio and his staff have a potential "Home Run" on their hands. We'll be back again and again.
Great food great service
Great meal, will return for sure.
The service was excellent and the food delicious. We had salads and the calamari appetizer prior to our salmon entrees. The wine selection had enough variety and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely return.
We had a great experience after trusting other open table reviewers. Tried it for the first time but we will be back. Bar is small but drinks were great. We were seated quickly when we were ready and had great service by Nicole. Apps and dinners were great. Only only regret is we didn’t have room for the amazing desserts we saw delivered to other tables.
A restaurant that knows how to cook a great meal !!
We had a wonderful meal with excellent service.
Greatttt food and service! A hidden gem. Must see and taste for yourselves!❤️
Drinks were high priced and the food was a little overpriced but the service was excellent and the restaurant cute. Hope they fix the road in front soon as it detracts from business. Would have liked a few more figure friendly dishes on the menu.
Food was great. Hadn’t been there since it switched over from Duke & Elephant. I like it better.
Great food and service for our party of 6. Enjoyed the “Fig” cocktails and the Calamari is still a favorite. Relaxed time for our together.
Great food and atmosphere.
Attentive service, attractive dining areas, excellent food.
Great Brussels sprouts and cocktails. Perfectly cooked salmon and risotto. Pasta, octopus, and prime rib were enjoyed by my friends. Perfect place for a Sunday night dinner and drinks to end one week and start another. We’ll be back.
My wife and I very much enjoyed our recent trip to the Martinsville Tavern. Food and service both excellent, and a good cocktail menu as well. Sometimes I'm afraid to order interesting sounding cocktails because they turn out to be a big glass of sugar water, but the ones I tried here were excellent. Parking can be tricky, and getting there currently requires dodging some construction signs since the road directly in front is mostly closed off, but you can get there if you try. It's worth the effort.
Nicole was our server who makes the place great. The food is really good but listen to your servers , they can make all the difference . We didn’t notice the calamari app and the way they make it here is very unique and really amazing . Thanks to Nicole we had it . Everything was great :) highly recommend .!
We are continually impressed with both the service and the food here. While the menu is extensive I have tried the specials each time I have been here. All have been outstanding. Their rib eye specials are especially exceptional. The service is friendly, attentive and they truly care about your dining experience.
Menu was varied and food was pretty well executed. (my pork was a bit dry and overcooked but I reined to seen it back). Hated the shameless commercial for Kendall Jackson at start of meal. It was tacky and set a bad tone. (KJ really?)
Server was knowledgeable but a bit forced and artificial
The food and service was outstanding. Nicole and Katie really accommodated our group for my wife's bday. Our friends were very impressed and they too will be coming back again. In short more new customer's on the way. All the meals were exceptionally prepared with a really nice presentation.
Hospitality and personal touch were great. Perfect cocktail mixed to taste.
One if the guess did not like their order and they took it back and fixed another one with no problem.
Big improvement over its predecessor ! Will definitely go back.
Meal and service was outstanding. Our server Nicole was awesome. The scallop appetizer was amazing. Time for us to bring our friends for dinner here
A wonderful place with a pleasant staff and outstanding food. Looking forward to going back soon
Excellent all around! Highly recommend. Food fresh and well -prepared. Nice variety of menu choices—beef, fish, chicken, vegetarian. Lots of gluten free for those who might need that option. A hidden gem in small-town NJ.
We were there for a family gathering with family coming over from Germany.
Perfect location, excellent food, friendly service.
One of the best places I know in the Warren area.
6 out of 5 stars, if that is possible... 😃
This spot has changed names many times, and each time it was not good previously. HOWEVER, a couple years ago a new owner came in and it was excellent, and although they recently changed the name to the Martinsville Tavern (with many of the same people), it is STILL just as good. Anyone who has not been here recently will be surprised. They completely updated everything inside a couple years ago - walls, fixtures, decor, new porch - it's all really sharp, completely remodelled and everything is nice. Been here multiple times and the food is also great. The menu is not huge, has some interesting items, but a nice variety. We've been here a few times and have enjoyed everything so far. As for seating, the dining room area is a little darker and quieter. The enclosed porch area is nice and a little more lively, but it can get too warm out there if it's very hot out. The Tavern name is a little misleading as it feels like a nicer place inside. For dinner dress code, might see some nice shorts in the summer, but overall dinner feels more like nice jeans or business casual. The atmosphere feels upscale casual yet relaxed. Parking lot has always been way too small, and fortunately it looks like they're finally in the process of expanding it. There's also a decent separate bar area, small but nice, and not typically crowded.
We did recommend it to a friend and they went the same night and loved it. Antonio is THE BEST! The food was excellent and the service was great. We will definitely be back. Great place!
Brought a friend from NYC out to dine with us and the experience was the usual “10/10.” The fried calamari is a uniquely tasty rendition of a popular fav and the Bar very attentive to requests.
Our only suggestion is that the cucumber soup would do better without adding a spicy seasoning and just letting the otherwise fresh summery taste carry the dish.
Still a “10” overall.
Very good. Better now since switch tonrw name and team
Unfortunately we went there during a really hot weekend and their air conditioning must not have been working. It made the dinner long and very uncomfortable. Menu options were ok, not a lot of great choices for me, but it was good. Took long to get served which added to the discomfort. Food was good, people were super nice, decor was lovely. Just not our best night out overall because of being so uncomfortable. Wished we left and came another time.
Acoustics on the porch are horrid!!!! Too noisy !!!! The air conditioning on the porch needs to be improved too!
This place has definitely become a favorite. Food is to taste and cocktails exceptionally well balanced!
