With beautiful surroundings, and a stylish interior, The Red Lion Oxford in Oxford is a classic meets modern pub, a perfect setting for any occasion. Our chefs take pride in preparing fresh, delicious tasting food using the finest ingredients. Signature dishes include spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit, slow cooked pork belly with seared scallops, salmon supreme served with thyme-roasted butternut squash, and our home-made British beef burger. Fabulous venue and lovely staff. We were a little disappointed that when we asked to order dessert we were told the kitchen was closed. This was around 10pm when we were told the kitchen had closed at 9pm. Given our booking was at 8pm, this was surprising not to have been told this when we sat down. That said, I would still recommend the venue with the caviat of 'be aware of kitchen times'.

Menu choices were limited as the kitchen had run out of food, only told of the limited menu options after we had made our decisions so had to go for a more expensive option. Waitress was very apologetic but seemed run off her feet.

Busy. Need to book. Lots of noise due to number of people at bar. Ordered aperitif at same time as we ordered food and the food came first! Food good as was the aperitif.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Red Lion. Classic pub feel with a professional touch. Great portions and good value... Nothing complex and done very well!
