Went for a mah Jong event. The food was a great value and delicious. The view was great plus. Want to go back to try the regular menu and have a cocktail.

The ambiance and setting here is worth the visit. A restaurant where u can talk to others at your table. Heaven. Service always pleasant.

Went for brunch today (off season). To say it was a disgrace is an understatement. Appetizers and drinks were good. Keeping in mind we were the only people in the dining room, the entrees should have been a breeze. The steak and eggs came that came out was gross. The steak was almost steamed, grossly overdone and the eggs were rock hard when ordered over easy. The staff seemed busy doing a cocktail tasting at the bar so my guess is attention was lacking. It was re-fired and came out the second time so tough that it was not edible. The first time I returned it they took it off the check and sent out a complimentary plate of rolls and spreads (not exactly a substitute for steak and eggs). When I said the second iteration wasn’t good both the waiter and manager reminded me it was taken off the bill already, i.e. “You’re not paying for it at this point so stop complaining.” Sorry, wrong assumption to make and the waiter almost seemed embarrassed to bring me the check. It’s sad when the staff is embarrassed by the food being turned out by a kitchen overtaxed with one seated table in the entire place. I was asked if I wanted something different but how long am I going to sit there and hope they get an entree right? My Sunday brunch that I was so looking forward to turned into leftover soup at home.

Had a very nice dinner at the Rum Runner last night - got there early to have a drink at the bar - not problem getting a seat looking out on the Navesink. We checked in with the hostess so say we had a 7pm reservation and we stayed at the bar a little longer than that but they said no problem and seated us when we were ready. We thought the menu was very good - lots of choices and reasonable prices. We shared a salad - portions were fine as a first course and I had the seared scallops and my friend had the hanger steak both were very good. The service was very relaxed - we had a lot to talk about and were not rushed. We also made time for dessert - espresso chocolate cake which was rich! Very nice dinner, live music coming from the next room - fireplace going. .. Classy place.

We had a really special night - it was our 40th wedding anniversary. And everything about our dinner was special as well. Danielle was an exceptional waitress, the food was amazing, our drinks were made perfectly and the view just added the special touch with a view of the river at sunset time. We highly recommend The Rum Runner for any occasion or just a night out !

Great from start to finish. Excellent steaks, lobster guacamole and nice reasonably priced Cabernet. And dessert! Can’t beat the view at sunset.

Ordered the avocado toast with 2 eggs, but the eggs were served on a separate plate. Not how it's usually served. It was okay.
