Leonard Wilfred Davies, born 19 December 1906, started a butcher's dynasty now four generations old. His butchers typical cheeky sense of humour now lives on through his grandchildren along with his knowledge of butchery.

In 1997 Leonard’s grandson Richard opened The Station Inn, which quickly generated a great reputation for quality steak. With Richard’s son, Ben’s passion and expertise as Head Chef and Butcher, The Station’s dining experience is a true reflection of the families deep passion for serving amazing steak.

20 years on from opening The Station a major upgrade has taken place, which at its core aims to celebrate the families heritage and knowledge of meat. In order to identify your exact preferences the chefs help you choose the best cut of beef to cook for dinner. It makes for an unforgettable ‘butchery and dining’ experience.

Food is great. Had steak and everything was good although one of the steaks was rather chewy but edible and tasty. A long wait to take our order, long wait to get attention to be able to order another drink and in general the service was very slow! No issues with cooking time and delivery of food to table, just ordering and reordering a drink proved to be very slow and the waitresses were perfunctory, at best. Asked if we would like to see the dessert menu but the dessert menu never came. After 25 minutes we just decided to pay and leave. Would still recommend eating here as usually the service is much better and food is lovely. Big shout out to the new lad who was friendly, humorous and made us feel welcome!

Another Friday night butchers night and it had to be a delicious juicy fillet steak! Cooked perfectly and so full of flavour. Sides of chips and dauphinois potatoes were perfect accompaniment with blue cheese sauce. Very busy so book early to get a table. Lots of staff on so didn’t feel like we were waiting too long. We’ve moved out of the area now but couldn’t miss the chance to come back when we were passing by

An excellent experience, from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left. A friendly welcome, drinks order taken and although we were 30mins early for our booking we were taken to our table within a couple of minutes The menu was explained, along with how the steaks are ordered, by going to the butchery counter, where a knowledgeable butcher was on hand to explain the different cuts available and each steak cut to order and preference. We both chose the flat iron, as we’d never tried that before, the steaks cut to our individual requirements, and then a marker pinned with cooking preferences, which was then passed on to the open grill for them to be cooked We returned to our table and the rest of our choices, regarding side dishes were taken Within 5 - 10 mins our food arrived and was delicious From our table the butcher was also able to check on how we liked the steak, which was a nice touch The place was very busy, pointing out not only the quality of the food, but also the quirkiness of being able to select our meat/steaks to our size preference and of course cooking preferences, and the cooking in public view Any excellent night, we’ll be certain to come back and sample more delights

Food was tasty and well seasoned, it got quite busy whilst we were there. However a bit too toasty by the tabletop log burner for us on the high table, next time we will happier at a low level table, but we will be back. 😃

ON A FRIDAY NIGHT WHEN YOU CAN CHOOSE THE MEAT YOU EAT. NOTHING BETTER. THE BUTCHER IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE CUTS AS WELL.

We love coming back to our favourite Sunday roast spot.. friendly and family run. Excellent quality, all served with genuine care.. having a dog friendly bar area is great too when accompanied by your four legged friends.. until next time. Thank you to the team
