The Three Blackbirds
We visited The Three Blackbirds on their first weekend of opening back in March, and then of course lockdown happened. We were so impressed that we decided to book again on their first weekend after lockdown, and so glad we did.
Absolutely superb in all aspects. Food was very well cooked and presented, service was very attentive, and everything was spotlessly clean.
There was a very well thought out system in place with regards to the Covid situation, which meant that you could relax and just enjoy the experience.
We will definately return again, as there is little else in the area that comes anywhere close.
Such an amazing evening, started with drinks on the front patio which was so beautiful and the food staff and restaurant was just fantastic, definitely so pleased its back!
One of the best pubs in Cambridgeshire / Suffolk area.
Excellent service, delicious food, just fantastic to be back!
A great night, tasty food (wide range of gluten free available), warm atmosphere and brilliant service.
Such a shame they had to close after 1wk of opening after thd fire. We'll be straight back as soon as we can. Wish they were mord locsl to us for their takeaway menu. Best of luck with it guys, I hope it's great success.
The Starter was over salted. The service was very poor We waited 55 mins before we asked if our table was ready !! The staff were very polite but very slow (need) training
The food was amazing, and so glad you are open again!! probably could have done with 1 more waiter as the poor chap looked rushed off his feet.
Great to be back. Missed you
Would like to see fried squid with the delicious dip back as a starter. Our favourite
Pub looking great after a refurb. Friendly staff. Great food. Highly recommend our dishes- Gnocchi and the fish and chips! Great selection of wines by the glass too. Could of been tempted to have desserts too - if we had been offered the menu! 😉
We had an amazing experience...we ordered the 40 ounce T-bone to share and it was cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines at a reasonable price.
The atmosphere was wonderful with a blazing log fire which kept us warm on a cold winter night...we loved it and will most definitely return.
Wow I must say this was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The chicken Terrine for starters was to die for. We also shared a Beef Wellington which was just quite simply amazing. The Log fire made the evening cosy on a bleak winters night. The staff were very friendly and helpful with a nice bit of interaction between the diners. Overall I'd highly rate this little gem in the suffolk countryside. I will be returning.
Excellent Food and service, this is the 4th time me and my partner have visited and it’s never a let down.
Would recommend it to my family and friends
The experience at the Blackbirds Inn is always wonderful!
Very good although limited menu. Food of good quality. Lovely old pub. Glad it’s open again
A disappointing meal. Food was lovely but staff were unbelievably stressed despite the pub being fairly quiet. Meant for a totally unrelaxing meal which was not cheap. Drinks took ages, beer was not right, bread was not all hot - some slices cold and others hot (suggests old bread?), manager trying to do too many things and not delegating, room was freezing - kept coat over my legs, door kept opening and then people not shutting so couple next to us were getting angry. Waited ages to pay at the bar as no one came back to the table to take payment. We went with great expectations and left mildly deflated, bank account lighter and thinking should have gone to Moulton.
Dog welcomed, really delicious starters - everything cooked well, nice old characterful pub.
A pleasant experience, but a much bigger venu than we were expecting, therefore a little on the noisy side.
We had a lovely evening. This place is now our new haunt.
We had another lovely meal at The Blackbirds. The bar was really busy and friendly and now they have the new wood burning stove it was really warm, welcoming and the atmosphere was great. We had the braised beef with root vegetables followed by apple and blackberry crumble with custard, just ideal for a cold winter evening.
Paige our waitress was delightful and John made a wicked 'Moscow Mule'.
Will certainly be going again
When the service and food are as good as they are here I’m happy to pay a slightly higher price, all staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable on their food and wine, attentive without disturbing. Great atmosphere and gorgeously welcoming open fire. Great with kids and dogs. Really can’t fault anything.
Came here for Sunday lunch as we have done a few times before and never been disappointed. Squid for starter. Both had the beef. And sticky toffee pudding it was lush. Great atmosphere and very friendly. Returning very soon.
Liked the fact the food could be served early. Great setting with roaring fire.
Service was very good as was the food. Plenty of choice. Locally sourced ingredients.
We had lunch on New years eve with family and had an excellent meal. Jamie was attentive and helpful which was most welcomed. We would certainly eat there again.
Table was booked by my husband for my birthday , was a delectable meal for the two of us and my parents. I had the pan fried duck breast (thank you again for letting me swap out the fondant potatoes for mash! Scotch bonnets would not have faired well) absolutely delicious, husband had he pork tomahawk again, delicious, especially the peppercorn sauce. Tasted home made and was genuinely the best peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had (I kept stealing it ) Mum had a steak, she didn’t share so I can’t say how good it was but she was unwilling to share which says a lot and my dad had the fish and chips and was very happy! He was extremely impressed with the home made tartare and was satisfied it was fresh! All in all , fantastic food. Relaxed but polite and friendly service, my parents are a little tricky sometimes but the lovely gents that served us handled them well. Also, great atmosphere , thanks so much for putting us by the fire it was beautiful and so warm. Definitely made my birthday memorable. Thanks again and anyone unsure , give this place a try it’s an absolute gem.
Very much enjoyed lunch with my husband. the atmosphere is fantastic. there was a lovely log fire, the conversation was good and the staff paid attention to the little details that made the occasion work.
I would highly recommend this establishment for lunch and for an occasion out with family or friends and will be returning in the future.
Nice pub, nice people. But it was too cold in the dining room and the fire was miserable. I felt the food was overpriced although my choice was well cooked. Not to visit again.
Had a delicious Sunday lunch in this lovely pub/restaurant. The roaring fire was very welcome on a cold blustery day &, together with the friendly staff, added to the cosy ambience. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic food and brilliant service very impressed with first meal here! It won’t be our last! We look forward to coming back. Thank you all
Lovely country pub good menu with a value lunch menu 2 courses £12. Dogs welcome log fire lovely ambience. Service was very attentive at first however as it got busier it took longer and things were forgotten that were ordered coffee/tea took ages overall a nice pub good food
very good quality , locally sourced produce , where applicable. Very good service . thank you
Staff were friendly and helpful and a nice cosy atmosphere. The food was lovely, beautifully presented and nice to know it was locally sauced. Would definitely go again.
We always really enjoy the Blackbirds Inn -- an incredibly cosy setting, kind staff, a warm fire for after a walk on one of the nearby paths, beautiful decor, good drink selection and a menu with variety.
We went as a group of four friends looking for a nice but casual Saturday night out. The food was outstanding, the ambience lovely and staff wonderful. The dipping sauce for the squid was out of this world and my bavette steak was the most flavoursome I've ever had. Couldn't recommend this place more highly, keep up the good work!
Service was really good. Attentive, fun and personable waiting staff. Food was fabulous and all was explained without us having to ask questions. Would definitely recommend and go back.
The service was excellent with attentive and efficient staff. Despite the very busy Sunday crowd there was no delay in serving or attending to diners. The roast beef had sold out so we had roast pork which was very tasty. When everything is fresh cooked it would've been nice to have homemade apple sauce to accompany the pork rather than out of a jar but it is a minor criticism. I'm afraid I've marked down the ambience as we were tormented by a screaming baby from the moment we walked into the bar, all the way through dinner and until we left. The group that included the baby seemed unconcerned at the effect their offspring was having on other diners, so inconsiderate. The dinning area is quite open with wooden floors and decor so the sound bounced around and through. We would return but not on a Sunday.
Excellent food and gracious service following a minor delay.
One of our party is disabled, and the ability of the staff to accommodate our needs is brilliant.
so pleased to find the blackbirds open again. Service was genuinely fantastic, food and wine to the high standard you would expect from the small but award winning chain. so happy its as good as others in the stable
Well worth the visit.
Relaxed atmosphere, good food,good service.
Will visit again.
