A cosy 14th-century pub in the heart of Henley-on-Thames, where timeless charm meets exceptional hospitality.

Nestled in Henley’s historic market square, right next to the renowned butcher Gabriel Machin, we offer a seasonal menu shaped by premium cuts from the butcher’s counter and the finest locally sourced ingredients. Under the guidance of Head Chef Scott Smith, whose ethos centres on sustainability and supporting local producers, our menu is fresh, flavourful, and ever-changing with the seasons.

From bar snacks and burgers to our seasonal à la carte menu featuring butcher’s cuts, fresh fish, and delicious vegetarian dishes, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy your visit in our inviting pub and bar, relaxed dining room, or outside in the charming courtyard and boat shed.

We are also open for walk in tables in the courtyard on sunny summer days!

Enjoyed the experience despite receiving disturbing news via a phone call to the pub from a friend to say they wouldn’t be coming because one of them had had a serious fall.

A lovely setting and warm service, though the food didn't quite match the Michelin guide. We had dinner at the Three Tuns on Saturday and enjoyed the evening overall. It's a beautiful building, the staff were very friendly, and service was prompt throughout. One small point for anyone booking: the menu linked on OpenTable was different from the one on the restaurant's website. I only noticed this afterwards. I had actually been drawn in by the OpenTable version, which had a wider choice of fish. I appreciate it's a small dining room with a short menu, but it would help if the two matched. To start, my wife had the grated egg with salmon, which was good but quite simple. Some bread or crisp breads alongside would have lifted it. I had the winter soup, which was pleasant but fairly basic. It also needed bread and butter. The crispy leeks on top were more chewy than crunchy and made it harder to eat without adding much. For mains, my wife really enjoyed her gnocchi. I had the fillet of beef from the butcher's board. It had a lovely smoky char from the grill, but it arrived closer to medium-well than the medium I'd expect. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, though I could have said. Fillet is a lean cut, and without basting it was on the dry side. The béarnaise saved it: rich, well made and a great match for the char. A good meal overall in a charming spot with excellent staff. Given the Michelin recommendation, I expected a bit more from the cooking.

Excellent lunch. Perfect service and a lovely dining room. Food was excellent and very good value. Being late lunch and a weekday, it was very quiet so don’t know how it would be on a busy summer Saturday, but while we were there, it was a lovely chilled atmosphere.

Expectations from the place were higher considering that the pub owners are also owning next door butcher shop. Main problem was food as the quality was average. Fish&chips were served with fries instead of chips and the spine bone left in the fish. steaks were quite thin and the sauces for other dishes were quite starchy. When the puddings arrived it was not better. Eaton mess had no merengue in the whipped cream and cream was overwhipped. Creme brulee had very strange liquid texture which was very strange. It looks like the place is targeting tourists coming to Henley mainly and don't care about the quality. Prices are also quite touristic
